The first one is:
Hain Celestial Group, Inc. vs Palmquist. Sotomayor wrote the 9-0 opinion. It was about jurisdiction and removal of parties to a lawsuit. The case was sent back to the lower courts with the ruling that one party (Whole Foods) was improperly removed from the lawsuit that a family filed against Hain, a baby-food manufacturer and Whole Foods, the company where the baby food had been purchased.
The second one is: Postal Service vs Konan. Thomas wrote majority opinion, ruling was 5-4. About an ongoing dispute a rental property owner had with the postal service where complaints about mail to those properties being either withheld or delivery being interfered with and, as it worked its way up through the court system some courts ruled the govt. couldn’t be sued due to sovereign immunity and others said not so fast, yes it can be sued. The government won this one, the court saying sovereign immunity stops the lawsuit, and it took 3 pages to explain why the govt. one this one.

This case is Enbridge Energy. LP vs Nessel (the AG of Michigan on behalf of the people of Michigan).
The question before the Court is “Whether district courts have the authority to excuse the thirty-day procedural time limit for removal in 28 U.S.C. section 1446(b)(1).”
This is about a lawsuit that was filed in State court in Michigan, about a pipeline, and one party sued to remove it to federal court then another party filed to have it heard in a State court, and back and forth on that the time limit for such removal kicked in, so this is about time limit procedures and not about the underlying lawsuit which several trade unions are interested in, constitutional law professor is interested in, among others as this has to do with the Governor of Michigan who blocked the construction of a pipeline so that underlying matter isn’t being addressed, just the timing of filings to move from State to federal and back to State courts.
This reads like a Civil Procedure final exam question.
Seems to me Bessie’s summation is the answer to the question. ☺️
When a case is filed in state court, it can be removed to federal court. Sort of a transfer between courts. There is a time limit for doing this. Bessie laid out the incredible tangle of facts for the question of whether the federal judge can accept the case if it might not have been timely removed. SCOTUS will let us know at some time.

Have done projects for them in the past, no problems, their jobs here in states were always US workers.
At times would go to new site and run into familiar faces.
It was the same working with CB&I based in Plainfield, ran into same guys at different sites around the world, it was a nice surprise after the travel to see the crew, made the jobs go much smoother.
I’m a Pipeline Teamster. As far as the union trades go, hiring is prioritized by hiring people in the local unions first. Once they run out of local people, then Union travelers are hired. I’m pretty sure that foreign workers need to be sponsored by a company in order to get a work visa and also need to be union members. I’ve seen a lot of travelers in the past and i’ve been one. To my knowledge, I’ve never worked with someone from another country on Union pipeline jobs.
Had a friend here in FL that was a welder he wouldn’t travel so as such called himself a 3 county boomer.
My local covers 5 states. Mn, Wi, Nd, Sd and Io. We get penalize by working in some jurisdictions out side of the local. They contribute less to pension and health/welfare funds. Pay scales change change a lot too. Even back home. West of the Mississippi seems to be a parting line that reduces pay.
If a person has the capability to wait out jobs, they certainly can pick and chose where they work.

Ultimately they are going to retain US workers, but consolidate standards based on their management in Canada. They are an odd company to work with because of the Canadian thing. Yes. This isn’t about the Line 5 pipeline pre se. It’s about procedures. Enbridge didn’t file something in a timely matter per court rules.
The State of Michigan and Earth Justice are doing everything they can to stop / delay this pipeline. I’m also watching other court proceedings for another section of Line 5 which goes around the Bad River Reservation. The Tribe demanded that Enbridge decommission and remove the existing pipeline from their property. Enbridge acquired the land going around the Reservation.
Earth Justice has filed many suits to block this move citing potential damage to Tribal water sheds. I expected to be working on this job by March, but a final decision on permits has been delayed until June. Permits have all been issued, but Earth Justice is still fighting the permits stating that regulators didn’t correctly present the impact statements.

If President Trump plans to head off the globalist’s planned economic collapse, one excellent strategy would be the elimination of property taxes, so that American property owners could retain their wealth (and a roof over their heads) through any “planned” monetary collapse.
And if foreign property owners were forewarned that their properties would be subject to confiscation should Americans ever suffer a monetary collapse, their plans to “transfer” American wealth would surely be averted!
When you do get rid of property taxes you will have to figure out how to pay for roads , sewer and water, power transmission in your neighborhood, a few little things like that. Of course having sane rational honest people who are not screwing the people out of their money for “special” causes would help.
Gas and sales taxes, utility taxes, utility usage fees, car tag fees – they have a plethora of taxes they can use to pay for necessities.

Minnesota taxes have gone crazy. Property taxes have tripled from a few years ago. 6.85% for sales, which adds up fast on a new pick up truck along with annual vehicle registration tax which is around $1000. Can’t wait to retire and move.

A few will get slung off into space, but most will come along for the ride of their lives.

Here is the game plan that the forces against Trump will be using for the foreseeable future.
They will attempt to get you to make the perfect the enemy of the good.
Be it the freedom clowns and spending, the immigration hawks with H1B visas, the peace doves with timing, the cultural warriors with total bans of DEI/CRT, the neocons with war fighting, or the swamp dwellers with draining the swamp.
All of them will attempt to get you to believe on whatever issue is the issue of the day that it doesn’t go far enough or do enough. They will try to make you think that some sub issue of that issue is more important and should be handled first, that since the issue hasn’t been handled yet it won’t be, that we can’t do more than one thing, that so and so is a plant to stop the draining of the swamp, or that because it wasn’t 100% Trump lied. On every single issue, one or more groups will attempt this strategy.
You can’t allow them that power over you. If Trump secures the border and deports 2 million, don’t allow them to reduce that good by them saying well he didn’t deport 2.5 million, so he failed or lied.
You can’t allow them to use the perfect to void out the good in the coming months.
They will try. They already have with the CR and the H1b visa debates. It works, that is why they use it. You have to keep it in the front of your head on everything about to occur that half a loaf or hopefully in most cases 7/8ths a loaf is better than no loaf.
Do not allow them to gaslight you into thinking the good is the enemy of the perfect.
In the real world, most things are never perfect, but if we try real hard, we can get plenty of good accomplished in the coming 4 years.
The purpose and goals of President Trump are plainly visible by his actions and consistent: He is for the benefit first of the common PEOPLE of this country, then of the PEOPLE in the rest of the world. It is validating, even to our battered conservative skepticism.
The methods of his leadership are amazing. I still don’t get HOW he does it, or HOW he is able to get so much momentum going, but every day the momentum is growing. Everyone and every organization has their eyes opened every day — just by watching him. Even those who hate him, are biased against him, and want to see him gone — cannot ignore him. He lives rent free in their head, and they come around to seeing the universal principles by which he is operating. He hammers actions based on truth from one direction, then another, and they cannot mount an organized opposition against him.
President Trump is transparent in his words and actions. He is consistent in what he says, what he does, and what he asks/demands of others. His promises are bold and he keeps them like no other president has. He is making massive, nearly overnight changes, not only in our country, but in the world. It is amazing that he is able to accomplish so much when there are so many snakes in the grass. This term, he is weeding them out faster. No U.S. president has ever faced so much organized resistance and treason than President Trump
He has chosen to use his intellect and every skill he has to do what is right. He has tremendous faith that he can make a difference in this world. He has a confidence and courage such that he doesn’t care what others think, yet a humility to know he has to do it with the help of like minded people. Those people are the “common” people, and he ridicules those who think they are not common.
He believes people are basically good. He believes that God is real. He believes that healthy people are happy people, and they need to be able to create wealth freely for their labor, and have the freedom to spend their money on what is good for them.
He believes the United States, with its Constitutional Republic, is the best environment in the world to enable and give opportunity for people to be happy and prosperous.
He believes that we can be a light for the world, but we must demand that the rest of the world respect us and our right to life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness.
He believes the enemy of our country are the stupid, greedy American people who have been selfishly taking advantage of this country; who betrayed the trust and obedience of its people; and who diverted the people’s wealth for their own selfish gain, at the expense of the principles of this country. He’s not going to allow that anymore.
He has cultivated and focused the family of MAGA. Identifying those people whose goodness, industriousness, trust, and obedience have been taken advantage of and abused. He has opened our eyes to this abuse, and the rights of freedom and self determination that have been quietly stolen from us.
He has rekindled the healthy distrust of government and men with too much power held by our founders. He has recultivated the desire to reclaim our freedoms and rights, and is empowering us with a hope and pathway to reclaim our spiritual and economic freedom.
He wants the US to be a light of hope on the hill for all people. He will negotiate win/win agreements with those nations and countries who respect us; who respect the principles and intent of our Constitution. If you do not respect us, however, we are not going to let you take advantage of our goodness, or share in our wealth at our expense. If you as a nation are treating your people badly, you are going to be treated less favorably by us, until you show that you value your people as much as we value ours.
He is convincing those who are very wealthy (most of whom truly earned their money), that the best economic soil in which to build wealth is in a constitutional republic, which supports the ability of the common man to earn wealth in proportion to his efforts. The economic engine of the United States is the human spirit freed to enjoy the fruits of honest labor, and that engine has more natural and raw horsepower than any other governed economy.
The Trump Train seems to be remarkably aligned with universal principles of Truth, which reflect the will and design of our Creator, and are the best standard by which we should live. These same principles were what our country’s founders used to declare independence, and framed into the Constitution of this nation.
Our founders believed that a nation should preserve the right and freedom of an individual to seek, understand, and live by God’s principles. They believed that free individuals working together in humility would make a stronger nation than a government which dictates its will on the people. President Trump professes and seeks to lead and restore this nation back to these same principles.
These principles resonate deeply within all human beings, down to our DNA in every cell, in our spirits, and produce fruit that “miraculously” multiplies. Because we follow universal principles, we see the snowballing acceleration of momentum on day 36 of the 2nd year of the 2nd term of this very stable genius in the history of the kingdoms of this world in the year of our Lord 2025.

I reminded them that Mandami , a Socialist, was paying more. A person would have to be pretty desperate to travel to NYC, house and feed themselves while working for $25 an hour.
