An interesting thing happened last weekend, President Trump went golfing with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. {SOURCE} Simultaneously, President Trump released the following statement from his Truth Social account.

Last October, I released a Plan for the permanent end to the Conflict in Gaza, and our Vision was unanimously adopted by the United Nations Security Council. Shortly thereafter, we facilitated Humanitarian Aid at record speed and secured the release of every living and deceased Hostage.
Just last month, two dozen distinguished Founding Members joined me in Davos, Switzerland, to celebrate its official formation, and present a bold Vision for the Civilians in Gaza, and then, ultimately, far beyond Gaza — WORLD PEACE!
On February 19th, 2026, I will again be joined by Board of Peace Members at the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C., where we will announce that Member States have pledged more than $5 BILLION DOLLARS toward the Gaza Humanitarian and Reconstruction efforts and have committed thousands of personnel to the International Stabilization Force and Local Police to maintain Security and Peace for Gazans.

I said a few weeks ago that I would not be surprised to see President Trump announce the appointment of Ron DeSantis to be the Chief Executive Officer of the Board of Peace. DeSantis’ executive experience in combination with his relationship with Israel functionally makes him a good fit. Just a guess.
DeSantis is a political animal without much of a career path that does not lean heavily on his governorship. Ron and Casey DeSantis are the republican equivalent of Bill and Hillary.
DeSantis will need a job after his term expires this year. The traditional path would be to take a job as the CEO within a major company, make money then launch for the 2028 campaign later in 2027.

Give him a role where he can succeed greatly if he cuts his puppet strings (which so far have failed him and hurt him) or take a chance and keep running with the shadow wolves and have to keep pretending to be a sheepdog.
I’m not much of a peace person as the concept is too abstract and theotetical. There is no peace without war because some troublemaker entities only understand the language of violence.
But I do understand politics and I think co-opting RdS and the sea island group toward something positive could be a master stroke. I don’t know if RdS is fit to be a secretary of state given Rubio has raised the profile so high, but he could be productively occupied and become rich with the sea island gang also taking in the profits from Gaza rebuilding. So one part of me thinks this is an olive branch with lots of $$ to buy RdS out from 2028 run. Maybe I’m reaching but it could work.
I hope something good comes out of it and given the evil forces the country faces from the left, it would serve the right well to unite. Or they would all be ruined. (“Hang together or hang separately”)

Where you try to impute weakness, I impute strength. A weak man would avoid anyone who hurt them like the plague, and not deal with them head on.
If you ignore a known problem causer, you’re just going to make your life harder in the long run.
DeSantis remains the Sea Island Group’s preferred 2028 candidate (just as he was in 2024). He’s going to become a problem the moment the midterms are over.
Luring DeSantis into a position which really only has power because the President says it does sounds like a “let’s take care of this before it becomes a problem” move on President Trump’s part. Its got some cache, but its not really going to put him a position before the American people that can rehabilitate his image ahead of 2028.
It also puts him in a spot that is not only directly subservient to President Trump, but also subservient to Secretary Rubio who is already lead alternate to VP Vance on the 2028 Primary dance card.
Mr. Rubio has already stated he would not run if Vance does (the presumption is that he’d be President Trump’s designated successor and by saying that Mr. Rubio shows his loyalty to President Trump)*, so if DeSantis comes into the fold and then tries to jump the line after just a year in his new position, that would again underscore his hunger for power and turn people off of DeSantis.
* A lot can happen between now and when Mr. Rubio would actually need to hard pass on running in 2028 and Mr. Vance has a sponsor (Thiel) and associate (Ramaswamy) that if he has to speak their words to the public to maintain funding from them could sour people on him enough to make him not as viable as everyone expects him to be.
My feeling is that President Trump is running a bit of a “Apprentice: Presidential Edition” at present… several in his cabinet would be every bit as strong as JD in terms of contenders.
Thiel may have a big, huge problem maintaining his “sponsorship” if there is any truth to this new info from Kim dot com re the hacking of palantier. Time will tell🧐

I’m not sure his executive experience has been that good. DeSantis and the FL legislature have totally destroyed the condo market. Older condos over 3 stories are basically worthless at this point due to new requirements that took effect in 2025. You may not even be able to get an insurance policy for those condos.
Those buildings are crumbling. Time to rennovate.

I was going to use “self confidence” as the trait embodied by our President but that is not as accurate a descriptor as “ego”, ego is who we are, self confidence is based on the ability to get things done according to our vision.
I know the NY way having lived, worked and played in the NY metro area for three decades. I had two very positive personal interactions with businessman Trump that demonstrated his authenticity and genuine character. I have been a fan of this man since the earliest days of his career as a builder developer in NYC.

I don’t think he has it in him or has the right handlers to guide him.

DeSantis will fail publicly if he does not leave behind his vices and strive for good. The caliber of people that will be on the institute of peace will eat DeSantis alive if he comes in with anything but honest intent for peace in the world.

Moreover, I’d be really grateful to see him occupied with a meaningful job instead of being positioned to compete with the MAGA 2028 presidential ticket.
Other than his Sea Island connection, I like DeSantis and appreciate a lot of what he’s done in office, in particular his role in helping bust the covid scam. It would be a shame to see his talents wasted on a losing election bid, and even worse to see him engaged in rolling back MAGA progress and achievements.
That would be unforgivable.

This Board of Peace has yet to accomplish it’s first major goal – disarming ALL of Hamas and complete & real demilitarization of Gaza. I wish them well, but as of now Hamas refuses to disarm.
I will go further and state that Hamas CANNOT disarm. To do so, destroys Hamas as an organization and completely eliminates it’s legitimacy from an Islamic perspective.
This is the first time I can remember that the word “peace” is used sincerely, without irony.
