Border Czar Tom Homan appears on CNN for a friendly discussion about Minnesota ICE operations, deporting illegals with the help of Democrat governors, the looming DHS shutdown and other matters.
CNN’s Jake Tapper dropped his customary combative technique during the interview and heaped praise upon Mr Homan for being a great DHS official and working collaboratively with Democrats. The polite nature of the questions and conversation seems odd coming from Tapper who heaped effusive praise on Mr Homan.

Tapper heaped praise on Homen because the administration retreated.
The heckler’s veto won this battle.
The administration didn’t just retreat, it surrendered. The big question is, who inside the administration made that decision, and why?
The Democrats won’t budge on any issue or on any policy dispute. They’ll just come back harder after every retreat. So there was nothing to be gained, and everything to lose, by surrendering.
If PDJT himself made the decision on an issue as important to the MAGA faithful as immigration enforcement is, then his voter base will have every reason to believe that just like most other Republican politicians, he cannot be trusted to keep his most important promises.
And if that happens, his MAGA voter base will not show up in the numbers needed to carry the 2026 mid-terms.
The frustrating thing is that there was no reason to fold in Minneapolis.
President Trump had to do it though due to the usual RINO suspects that were attacking him from behind and the upcoming midterms.
My humble opinion is that the retreat will demoralize MAGA and hurt more in the midterms than sticking to it and letting Minneapolis back themselves into a righteous invocation of the Insurrection Act.
The truth is that ICE alone will never get rid of all these criminals. Invoking The Insurrection Act would do it. Also, WHY has the funding of illegals not been CUT OFF? And corporations not held accountable for hiring them? THAT is illegal! These two moves alone would take care of the illegal problem WITHOUT the Insurrection Act.
100% enforcement across the board chasing 20-30 million people potentially to leave, simultaneously, would be beyond chaotic. What happens if commercial truck transportation drops 50% overnight, affecting the food supply.
I agree, cut off 100% of government benefits ASAP.
I used to think truck drivers were the best now I’m scared they might be illegal who can’t read English, let alone know how to drive safely. Trucks make me nervous now.

Armchair warrior here, but I think water hoses with blue dyed water would have taken care of things pretty quickly when it first started. Some have suggested manure instead of blue water. Either one would work.
That would have been an excellent remedy – however for some reason-the use of water cannons – hoses was outlawed sometime back.

The retreat from Minneapolis and the retreat from the intent to deport every illegal will frustrate MAGA base and may well de-motivate them from coming out in November 2026.

Off topic – when viewing CTH on the “Chrome” browser lately, some spam-ware ads pop up and try to take over the screen.
So I now view CTH on the “Brave” browser. No pop ups, nothing interfering.

You can list startup tabs in Brave’s ‘Settings’. When I open Brave, my CTH tab is there along with my email.

Since Tom Homan has recently become more active in the Minnesota/Minneapolis-St. Paul “theater of operations”, neither the Trump administration, nor ICE, HAS RETREATED. Homan, over the past couple of weeks, has repeatedly promised that if the situation in this “theater” resumes its combative anti-ICE methods, Homeland Security/ICE will return as before. What any return of ICE will entail, next time, is complete cooperation with police and sheriff’s; that is one of the primary objectives that Homan achieved for the administration by meeting with police and sheriff’s throughout the State of Minnesota. In addition, ICE, during its Minneapolis surge, was able to remove nearly all their criminal illegal targets plus several other illegals who tried to interfere with their operations . I believe that, from start to finish, the ICE operation was fairly well done and, as said, if the idiot gov & cowardly mayor do not abide by U.S. immigration law or sic anarchists on ICE and/or Border Patrol agents, the righteous agents WILL RETURN in force.

I spent 26 years enforcing immigration and other federal laws. That experience taught me that ALL illegal aliens are potential public safety threats.
Minneapolis is a prime example. The false notion that just a few illegal aliens are actual criminals , but the rest are angelic, wonderful neighbors, had liberal zealots out breaking the law and violently assaulting federal agents. It even turned deadly. For no reason.

Bovino came in with the stick. When mayor little guy and Tampon Timmy started pleading for the spanking to stop then Homan came in and repeated the terms: Jails need to cooperate, police need to do police stuff so de-migration people can do de-migration stuff.
Here on the ground what we see is the jails have now started to notify immigration when an illegal will be released. What we see (with my own eyes here) is local police finally doing police stuff to arrest the rioters and obstructers, to clear the idiots from the streets, and to allow immigration to do the job they wanted to do in the first place.
Don’t fall for the lie that the surge was just to throw Federal weight around. That was never the point. The surge was needed only because of the refusal to cooperate. The ‘retreat’ is only partial here in MN. A pro-Trump 2024 district in Texas, by 17 points was just lost to democrats after the optics that are well organized by demonrats and establishment republicans. He is playing the game as it should be played.
