The health of the soil depends on the ruminants that graze on the grass. The rumen of the cow is full of bacteria that break down the grass. This is the miracle that transforms grass into cheesecake (and other dairy products) for our enjoyment!
Then, there are a huge number of different species of dung beetles that work over the dung using bacteria in their digestive tracts. If this cycle is allowed to operate, the soil is enriched with both nutrients and bacteria.
The anti-cow fart crowd is sadly ignorant of this finely tuned system! It’s really all about sick globalists who don’t want ordinary people to enjoy good food and good health.
One other thing. The Models are showing Feb to be colder than normal for almost the whole eastern half of the country.
My home weather station is showing -8 F as I write this at 01:28.
Zero along my stretch of I-80.

My hometown -9 F and an average annual temp of 40 F. Yet the tourist town of Minocqua, WI, just a few miles north is -19 F and the yearly annual temp approximately 39.8°F.

American seamstress widely credited with making the first American flag, dies at 84
Biography: Betsy Ross has traditionally been credited with having sewn the first American flag, but in fact this is far from certain and all that can be proved is that she was just one of a group of women in Philadelphia employed to make flags during and after the American Revolution.
The only evidence of Betsy Ross’ direct involvement comes from a paper published by her grandson William Canby in 1870, 100 years after the event, for the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. In his tale, taken purely from family oral history, George Washington himself visited Ross’s shop requesting a flag and Ross was the one who recommended a five-sided star and it is her design that is eventually approved by Congress .
Betsy Ross’s name became famous when she was later included in Charles Weisgerber’s painting “The Birth of Our Nation’s Flag” exhibited at the World’s Columbian Exposition in 1893. Prints of the painting were made and were widely distributed, thus giving rise to the belief that Ross had made the first original American flag.

Biography: Orville Wright, together with his brother Wilbur Wright, revolutionized transportation with the invention of the airplane.
The Wright brothers’ early interest in flight was sparked by a toy helicopter their father brought home when they were children. They began their experimental journey into aviation by studying the flights of birds and later transitioned to designing and testing kites and gliders. Their experiments led to the development of three-axis control, a system still used in all fixed-wing aircraft to this day.
On December 17, 1903, Orville piloted the first powered, controlled, and sustained flight, covering 120 feet in 12 seconds. This event, which took place at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, marked a significant milestone in human history. The Wright brothers continued refining their designs and in 1905 built the Wright Flyer III, which was capable of fully controllable, stable flight for significant distances.
Orville also served on various aviation boards and commissions, including a 1920 appointment to the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, a precursor to today’s National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Despite the profound impact of his and his brother’s work, Orville remained modest and reserved throughout his life.

Biography: Ferdinand Porsche is best known for creating the Volkswagen Beetle, the Lohner-Porsche hybrid vehicle, and the Auto Union racing cars, as well as founding Porsche AG, the famous sports car company.
Porsche showed a talent for engineering from a young age. In 1898, he designed one of the first electric vehicles, the Egger-Lohner C.2 Phaeton. In 1900, he created the Lohner-Porsche Mixte Hybrid, the world’s first gasoline-electric hybrid car.
Throughout his career, Porsche worked for several automakers, including Austro-Daimler, Daimler-Benz, and Steyr Automobile. In 1931, he started his own engineering firm, which would later become Porsche AG.
Later, in 1934, Adolf Hitler asked Porsche to design a “people’s car,” which led to the creation of the Volkswagen Beetle.
During World War II, Porsche contributed to the German war effort by designing tanks and other military vehicles. He was a member of the Nazi Party and an SS officer. After the war, he was arrested by French authorities as a war criminal but was later released.

Biography: Lightnin’ Hopkins was an American country blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He was immersed in the blues tradition from a young age, meeting and learning from legendary artists like Blind Lemon Jefferson and his cousin Alger “Texas” Alexander.
After being discovered singing on the streets of Houston by Lola Anne Cullum of Aladdin Records in 1946, Hopkins recorded his first songs, including “T-Model Blues” and “Tim Moore’s Farm.”
In the late 1950s, blues researcher Mack McCormick helped bring Hopkins to wider audiences, including his 1960 debut at Carnegie Hall alongside Joan Baez and Pete Seeger.
Hopkins recorded prolifically from the 1960s-1970s, sometimes with backing bands like the 13th Floor Elevators on the 1968 album “Free Form Patterns.”
Hopkins influenced many other musicians like Townes Van Zandt, Stevie Ray Vaughan, whose “Rude Mood” was inspired by “Hopkins’ Sky Hop,” as well as a generation of blues artists. He was considered a living link to the earliest eras of blues, recording an estimated 800-1000 songs and earning the nickname “the Poet of the Blues.”
Some of Hopkins’ career highlights included tours of the U.S. and Japan, a poet-in-residence position in Houston, and having his guitars displayed at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Good morning Rah. Thank you for posting this story. It brought tears. My breeding stallion is 30 this year and I know his time is coming, and this story brings that fact sharply to me. I will miss him terribly as I have had him since he was 4. He is the reason this 75 year old gets up every morning to feed and stroke my best partner when we moved our cows and calves to wean them. Plus, he sired the best, most trainable and incredibly smooth riding quarter horses you could ever get a leg up and over. He has so earned his retirement.

Weekend weather for the mid-Atlantic predicted to be quite different from last weekend’s sleet and ice storms.
All predictions are for dry powder snow, cold temperatures and high winds …… something rarely seen in the area, usually its the wet heavy stuff not so easily moved by the winds. Sure to be whiteout conditions in spots going into the weekend and snow drifts with the predicted high winds.
Could even be ground blizzards after the snowfall is over, something common in some areas of the western US but unknown on the east coast. 4 to 7 inches dry snow with wind gusts to 50 mph predicted in my local area.

COMMENTARY FOR 1 JOHN 1
This epistle is a discourse upon the principles of Christianity, in doctrine and practice. The design appears to be, to refute and guard against erroneous and unholy tenets, principles, and practices, especially such as would lower the Godhead of Christ, and the reality and power of his sufferings and death, as an atoning sacrifice; and against the assertion that believers being saved by grace, are not required to obey the commandments. This epistle also stirs up all who profess to know God, to have communion with him, and to believe in him, and that they walk in holiness, not in sin, showing that a mere outward profession is nothing, without the evidence of a holy life and conduct. It also helps forward and excites real Christians to communion with God and the Lord Jesus Christ, to constancy in the true faith, and to purity of life.The apostle prefaces his epistle to believers in general, with evident testimonies to Christ, for promoting their happiness and joy. (1-4) The necessity of a life of holiness, in order to communion with God, is shown. (5-10)
5-10 A message from the Lord Jesus, the Word of life, the eternal Word, we should all gladly receive. The great God should be represented to this dark world, as pure and perfect light. As this is the nature of God, his doctrines and precepts must be such. And as his perfect happiness cannot be separated from his perfect holiness, so our happiness will be in proportion to our being made holy. To walk in darkness, is to live and act against religion. God holds no heavenly fellowship or intercourse with unholy souls. There is no truth in their profession; their practice shows its folly and falsehood. The eternal Life, the eternal Son, put on flesh and blood, and died to wash us from our sins in his own blood, and procures for us the sacred influences by which sin is to be subdued more and more, till it is quite done away. While the necessity of a holy walk is insisted upon, as the effect and evidence of the knowledge of God in Christ Jesus, the opposite error of self-righteous pride is guarded against with equal care. All who walk near to God, in holiness and righteousness, are sensible that their best days and duties are mixed with sin. God has given testimony to the sinfulness of the world, by providing a sufficient, effectual Sacrifice for sin, needed in all ages; and the sinfulness of believers themselves is shown, by requiring them continually to confess their sins, and to apply by faith to the blood of that Sacrifice. Let us plead guilty before God, be humble, and willing to know the worst of our case. Let us honestly confess all our sins in their full extent, relying wholly on his mercy and truth through the righteousness of Christ, for a free and full forgiveness, and our deliverance from the power and practice of sin.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Evening Prayer For Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Evening Prayer For Future Guidance
Heavenly Father, as I lie down to sleep tonight, I pray that You would guard my sleeping and protect my mind from wandering thoughts and unnecessary planning. Teach me to wait for Your perfect timing and not to try to plan my future in my own strength.
Lord, I know that You have scheduled every day of my life. Help me to trust You in all things and rely on You to lead me along the straight path and guide me in the direction that You would have me to go.
Give me patience to wait for Your perfect timing, and may I not trust in my own abilities and scheming, but rather rest in Your love and trust my future into Your hands.
And so now Lord, I commit this night to you, asking that I would rest soundly and wake refreshed and strong to do Your bidding. This I ask in Jesus’ precious name,

Praise Your holy name Heavenly Father, for granting yet another day in my life and for being with me every step of the way. Thank You for the many blessings that You have provided and the love and fellowship that I have with the friends and family that in Your grace You have placed in my life.
My heart is so thankful for all the many blessings that I enjoy day by day, and today I am once again reminded that Your mercies are new every morning and Your faithfulness endures from generation to generation.
Thank You, that I have been brought into Your family and have been made a child of God and a citizen of heaven. Words cannot express my love and devotion to You Lord
I pray that You would watch over me as I rest tonight, and that You would give me a restful nights sleep so that I may wake up in the morning refreshed in body and spirit and ready to do Your will.
