We’ve owned many marques, including higher end ones. But our 9yr old Buick Enclave which we bought with a Lexus trade in saying this would be the last new one as we are of a certain age, we bought because it was capable of school runs with plenty of room for three growing grands, their hefty backpacks, and the rest of their “stuff”.
I can honestly say for performance, reliability, and style (inside and out) that it is the nicest car we have ever owned. A pleasure to drive or be a passenger in. It’s more car than we need now, but we are still in as much love with it as the first day.
My British husband who has worked for Rover UK, Renault UK, Peugeot, Honda, Audi, Lexus, and latterly Cadillac agrees.

I bought a 2003 Suburban from my cousin who had a dealership. It had 58000 miles and that was in 2005. It now has. Over 220000 miles. My driver seat is worn out but everything else works, I buy tires and change the oil every 3000 miles. It is fabulous and has the best turning radius. It is my dog mobile and wouldn’t change it for a new car.
Stupid really but it is like a good friend. It is also the most comfortable vehicle I have driven.

Became a widow and was having to return to Missouri to be near family and I had to sell that sweet thang because the check light came on, it was found there was a hole in the gas tank and my neighbor who had a Ford repair place couldn’t find any gas tanks anywhere to replace it. I would be doing distance driving to doctors, etc. here and I was afraid to keep the Big Red. Broke my heart to sell it. Blue Book value said $1,500 so I sold it for that but I cried. No kids or pets or food was ever in it, show room clean.

My husband is still driving a 2004 Navigator it has about half the mileage of my Suburban. He wants a Pickup but I think that is nuts. His Navigator looks like it is a couple of years old. I don’t like driving it though, it is nowhere near as good to drive as my Suburban. It is harder to get into. The center of gravity appears higher to me and I cannot get the driver’s seat adjusted right. The steering wheel has little adjustment. The passenger seat is fine but I can carry more stuff in my Suburban than they can carry in the our pick up and Navigator. I just want to drive them until we can’t fix them.

Here is the thing: they are always simply looking for a way to crack this door open and then once we let them, it’s off to crazyland- they get an inch and wind up taking 100 miles every single time.

My last daily driver was a 1996, and I got 300k miles before it started to give up. My newest ride is a 2008, the first vehicle I have ever owned from the 2000s. I will never own a car made after 2016 if I can avoid it for so many reasons (one of which is many brand new vehicles are having terrible engine issues because of EPA/gov mandates on fuel efficiency that forces the use of smaller displacement forced induction engines with the use of extremely light-weight oils).
If it comes down to it, an old truck with a carbureted V-8 or mech diesel will be in the stable. Until they find a way to ban those…smfh.

I have a 1997 Ford F250 and a 1987 Suzuki. Both are superior to any crap made today. I use the best synthetic oil and additives to keep them running like new. Like you, I would never consider exchanging quality for a new paint job and a kill switch that will likely actually kill the driver due to malfunction.

On the good news front – arrests of various corrupt robbers of taxpayer money are ongoing…
Alexander Soofer, 42, of Westwood, the executive director of the charity Abundant Blessings, was arrested this morning on a federal criminal complaint charging him with wire fraud — a felony punishable by up to 20 years in federal prison.
Soofer is accused of lining his pockets with millions of taxpayer dollars intended to combat the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles. Instead, he allegedly used the money to purchase a $7 million home, took luxury trips across the United States, and paid for his children’s private school tuition, among other luxury items.
He will make his initial appearance in federal court this afternoon. Mr. Soofer is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
For too long, California has left the spigot of taxpayer dollars on and has not provided anywhere near enough oversight of how the money is being spent.
Thankfully, the federal government is stepping in to enforce the law. We are demanding accountability — something the state’s leaders for years have failed to do.

Sure for local councils, even guvna, etc. But I would think anything involving federal (which includes anyone going to DC) must meet federal guidelines. Like everything including environmental, meet or exceed the federal reg. And that voting scrutiny should, by way of mere presence on the ballot, include every person and every item or measure on the ballot as well. You want times to have fraud elections in the state (including guvna) then do them in odd number years.
As establishment Republicans there start spending more and more time in Wyoming and other southwestern “redoubts”, complaining to fellow establishment cronies at their resort communities.
Seriously, they are their own type of locusts. They destroy a viable state by refusing to let go of their Bush/Neocon/Free Trade obsessions, alienate an otherwise energized majority base, and hand rule over to NWO communists, who promptly drop an iron curtain of fraud around it.

States can NOT bar the enforcement of federal law by federal law enforcement under any circumstances…
