The first thing I wondered. Seens to me this requirement was on the books and taken seriously in the 1950s. I really wonder what happened. Was it a law or just an department / agency policy? How did it change?
Big advantage for the Dems to import people who are dependent on the welfare state, so it’s not hard to figure out why things changed. I just wonder what the exact legal changes were.
Whatever the details, it’s time to reinstate this requirement for residency.

My father in law came here in 1953 and spent five years working to establish himself, including getting a sponsor, so that he could apply for his wife and two children to come from war torn Europe for a new life in America. Their sponsor had to agree to be COMPLETELY responsible for all of them financially and that they would NEVER become public charges of the United States Government (which they NEVER did)!

While Venezuela has the world’s largest oil reserves, those figures do not translate directly into immediate production flow rates or rapid incremental increases, which demand substantial time and investment.
With the next budget season not arriving until Q3, U.S. producers are currently committed to ongoing projects and contractual obligations. Venezuela’s oil faces uniquely difficult geology, low ultimate recovery rates, and severe infrastructure deficits. From my work alongside Venezuelans who actually operated projects there, many cited rampant corruption and logistical nightmares as reasons they left the country.
At current oil prices, the massive capital required for meaningful production growth simply isn’t justified—one leading expert and good friend, estimates it would take at least 3 years to double output, adding about 1 million bbl/d… so not by next week….Unlike Canada, Venezuela has zero SAGD projects ZERO !!; any greenfield heavy oil development there would require at least $30,000 per flowing barrel, meaning roughly $1 billion!! for every 30,000 bbl/d increment achievable in perhaps three years. They mainly produce cold production, which is cheaper I’ll admit!! But with slower flow rates and rely on diluents and polymers which are enhanced recoveries ( EOR) that require capital and supply of these chemicals and infrastructure… more money.
Finally, people seem to overlook the U.S. Midwest (PADD 2), which already processes around 4 million bbl/d of crude, predominantly from Canada, Venezuela lacks the logistical or practical means to displace that supply. Hope this clarifies things for everyone and helps the understanding of this volatile situation. Thx
My understanding is that the petroleum geology in Venezuela and its surrounding areas is very difficult and expensive. Yes, there’s a lot of oil down there, but getting it out economically is by no means a foregone conclusion. Venezuela relies on the “easiest” stuff to extract.
People immediately crow that “the USA did this because it wants ‘all that oil.'” But the geological reality is that this is much easier said than [profitably …] done. It is not credible that these were the actual US motives, because you can’t snap your fingers and just get it.

I remember watching vote totals change on election night coverage-votes totals for PDJT would all of a sudden decrease–remember seeing some screen shots -not much came of it
2020, When I was watching coverage of the counting late in the evening, Trump was ahead comfortably. I was just going to get some sleep when a notice came in that vote counting had been stopped in GA I believe. No explanation given at first. Then another state and another state and another state came in as halting vote counts. I was fully awake at that point. Talk about a wake up call. I knew instinctively something was wrong/off.
Then the count started to change. Kind of rapidly. It was all going wrong and happening on live coverage. Fox called AZ before very many votes had come in. Really? When the totals were given the next day and Biden was called the winner with an impossible number of votes, it was more than obvious the election was stolen and a coup was occurring.
One last chance was mentioned to right the wrong and that was holding up the electoral count until investigations could happen. We all know what the next event was that sealed the steal and the coup. The evidence that has been revealed since then is overwhelming and anyone who still denies it was stolen is pure lying to themselves and everyone else.
Is it possible that proven fraud will allow PDJT to run in 2028? If so, this would be a gift for America.

In that same comment, I added reminders that Maduro and “his associates” had been on the phone more than few times with President Trump and his Team before Maduro was captured. I speculated then as I do now that a “plea bargain” may have been struck.
It would be interesting to know who else came back with Maduro and what materials Maduro had with him when he surrendered.
I also suspect Maduro’s choices were a “plea bargain” or a visit by “Mr. Navy Tomahawk” through the front window of his hacienda. Recall that President publicly announced he authorized “land strikes” before this operation took place. For all those ‘greenies’ who think electric cars are the environmentally best solution here’s a post about an EV car fire. We hear all the time about the climate change and their ridiculous reasons and solutions. It’s all about the money in the end.

Probably the overriding motivation of removing Maduro is to gather the solid evidence as to how Venezuela helped steal the U.S. presidential election of 2020. The CIA used Venezuela actors at Dominion to overthrow the government of the United States in that November election. Votes were changed by the hundreds of thousands in various states that one night and that massive theft STOLE the obvious victory of Donald Trump.
What Americans really need is an armed Delta Force operation against the traitorous CIA which is a rouge agency answering to NOBODY.
