From my time in refineries dealing with a different system, fire suppression, conversations did come up of what the feed stock was and end product.
The “oil” from Venezuela and Trinidad is basically “pitch” in fact in Trinidad there is Pitch Lake where they pack it for export to be used in hot mopped roofing and thinned for patching.
There are areas where the material is constantly emerging upward, they have to scrap the roads, buildings slowly slide down hill the first trip was quite the eye opener.
As such the process of extracting as we think of it involves putting a solvent down the pipe to thin the material for extraction, plus a heat source.
The end refinery has to be designed for this, and what the end products are, not everything is gas or diesel.
The oil that was being brought into Midwest plants on trains owned by Warren Buffet was from Alberta. It had it’s own issues with being highly corrosive, the engineers missed calculated just how bad at one plant and had to do another shutdown to change materials in system. This had a major effect on the Chicago land area.
There is little doubt that there will be an impact but what and who time will tell. Had read that Nick was getting naphtha from Russia that could be interesting, Trinidad used to refine naphtha don’t know if that is still true.
Interesting times ahead.

This won’t be about the US making money on Venezuelan oil. That money, for the commodity, will belong to Venezuelans.
Listen to PT again…..The oil revenues will be used in part to pay America back the damages. And I am sure those oil companies that were American that were operating down there will be getting their share after rebuilding the oil platform. So what remains will go to Venezuela.

So if the Supreme Court stops this momentum, it will be extremely telling about the court- which will bring a whole lot of attention to the Supreme Court itself because they will have clearly chosen against what we voted for that is working well, THIS will show the politization of the SC, and The Donald will want to fix this.

So I look at all this that works pretty well and then I look at all the other countries and think ‘why are they working so hard to do the total opposite of what we’re demonstrating works pretty well?”

Canadian oil sold to the U.S. is already heavily discounted off the market price for oil which is $57. The price US refineries pay for Canadian oil, which is transported by pipeline directly to the US, is $41 – $44 a barrel a discount of $13 to $16.
Venezuelan oil has to loaded and unloaded via shipment by oil tankers and may not be discounted at all!

After checking “news” sources – approximately 0.01% of the locals, all members of DSA, went on a half hour walkabout yesterday in my area. The only ones who paid them any attention were the local leftist news.

If I’m not mistaken this will be in federal court, meaning a potentially bigger jury pool and possibility of drawing from more conservative areas of the state. And there are some when you get outside the densely urban areas.
You’re correct. But the area is mixed. The counties included in SDNY are the Bronx, Dutchess, Manhattan, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan and Westchester. Manhattan, the Bronx and Westchester are all leftist. Dutchess is purple/leans blue, and the other four are red. So four out of eight are red, three are blue, and one is a toss-up.
I’d much rather have a change of venue.
I know it’s not in the cards, but Florida would be my first choice.

I also believe that Maduro doesn’t qualify as an undocumented migrant, as his documentation was all in order. But as of today, he does qualify as the leading Democrat candidate for President in 2028, and so under our Constitution he is not entitled to the freebies you list. A little anecdote on good ole US made cars and trucks. I have a 1989 GMC Sierra full bed. Due to circumstances, moving from farm to help out in-laws, staying there with kids due to much family help, the truck had been sitting at the farm for about 5 years.
I went down this past week with a nephew (he got 2 deer while there), I wanted to see if I could get it started. After getting a starter and fuel pump off the shelf at O’Reilly in small south georgia town. Quicker than Amazon, the truck started nearly right away, yes, gas was rather old. We put new gas in with some enzyme treatment. I was very surprised the engine hadn’t frozen in some way. Started like it had been cranked yesterday.
I will of course change oil, transmission fluid, check other levels, etc. And checking the radiator/antifreeze, it was still full to just below the top and green without buildup. Perhaps it’s copper?
I do plan on cleaning out gas tank before major use. The prior owner had even cut a rectangular piece from the truck bed centered on the fuel pump. Then reattached the approx 1 foot piece with a few support metal braces and screws.
Cool.
It’s always great getting something old back on the road.
Two of my favorite vehicle fixing channels on yt are Vice Grip Garage (he’s from Tennessee) and Turnin Rust (Dad and son from Texas).
Those guys are always getting a classic cranked back up.
Whenever I need to work on anything I always look up the make and model on yt and find videos and sometimes when insomnia sets in I binge watch fix-it shows.

Thanks. And kids, 4 and 7, are going to help me check, change and fill all the fluids, oil filter, air filter, etc. Take wheels off and check brakes. I won’t have them help me much (if at all) cleaning gas tank in situ.
A huge amount of working space under the hood. It even has a couple of work lights. One is on 5-6 foot wired thread to take to areas of the engine.
Lastly, transmission fluid fill and dipstick. The truck has 3 foot long dipstick and fill at top of engine. My 2018 Honda Pilot has 6 inch long dipstick about 2.5 feet deep beside the engine. I guess to save manufacture cost and maybe weight?
And no damn computers.
