According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson, 14 Medicaid services currently under audit and deemed “high risk” have cost the state $18 billion since 2018. “I don’t make these generalizations in a hasty way,” he said. “When I say significant amount, I’m talking on the order of half or more. But we’ll see. When I look at the claims data and the providers, I see more red flags than I see legitimate providers.”
Thompson said during a press conference announcing new indictments that entire companies were created not to provide medical services but to pocket federal funds for international travel, luxury vehicles and lavish lifestyles. “The magnitude cannot be overstated,” Thompson said. “What we see in Minnesota is not a handful of bad actors committing crimes. It’s staggering, industrial-scale fraud.”
Thompson then outlined an industry of “fraud tourism” where some outsiders -specifically two from Philadelphia- even travelled to the state to participate in the financial windfalls. The scheme was “easy money,” he said.
(VIA CBS) – Five new defendants have been charged in connection with a Minnesota housing services fraud, Thompson said. Two of them pocketed $750,000 instead of helping Medicaid recipients find stable housing, he said. Prosecutors allege they used the proceeds to travel to international destinations, including London, Istanbul and Dubai.
One defendant submitted $1.4 million in fraudulent claims, using some of the funds to purchase cryptocurrency, Thompson said. Federal officials say he fled the country after receiving a subpoena.
The five charged include two Philadelphia residents who have been accused of “fraud tourism” after they registered as Minnesota providers. (read more)

No matter what day of the week I was there, so was she. And every single time, she was loading up a cart with as many used suitcases as the cart could hold. I once saw her maneuver two carts up to the checkout counter.

Why is the Medicaid program funding welfare and other subsidies for people? It’s genesis and core mission is health care. This fraud exposure should be cut off at the source.
The exponential growth in the spending would have been a red flag for any internal watchdog group that had visibility and oversight into the programs. The level and magnitude of complicity required to allow this to continue for 5 years is unbelievable.
In significant part the reason is the same as the one that led to such massive excesses and fraud in the foreign aid programs – that 3 letter word NGO.
Just as with USAID and foreign aid, there need to be very strict guidelines put in that aid goes DIRECTLY to people in need AFTER they have been properly vetted and that NO taxpayer money be given to any “NGO” – not now, not ever again. It’s nothing but at best a considerable dilution and at worse gross, mind-numbing fraud.

Interesting that nobody is asking the right questions nor pointing out the right facts which would put the STATE Governments and significant parts of the Federal Government directly in the cross hairs as being PART of the theft.
STATE GOVERNMENTS are responsible for the disbursement of the FEDERAL GRANTS that include all the money in question … and includes other money that has been illegal spent (i.e. COVID Funds, education Funds, MEDICARE Funds, SNAP, DoT Funds, DoE Funds, et al). That responsibility includes physically allocating the money and physically handing over the money … that responsibility includes OVERSIGHT, REPORTING and LEGAL ACTION.
There is no way STATE Governments, Democrat and/or Republican Run, do not know what is happening.
This is one of the major reasons DEMOCRAT Run “local” governments and supporting organizations fought tooth and nail to stop DOGE via lawfare and violence. It is the reason a REPUBLICAN Run Congress did not and will not support DOGE with legislation.

Getting rich off the government is old. The war profiteers during the Revolution, Boss Tweed and Tammany Hall in the 19th Century, Minnesota Somalis today, all found ways to get rich from the cash flows between taxpayers and government.
One person can’t do this on their own, because it would arouse resentment from others, and they would be caught and prosecuted. However, if the graft is permitted for a large number of players, such as the leadership of the Democratic Party today, then attempts to hold any individual to account would be blocked by the others with their hands in the cookie jar.
So a criminal cohort becomes established to get rich off the government, and they hold positions from elected representatives, to bureaucrats, to judges, lawyers, local sheriffs, paid press, vendor cronies, all benefiting from the graft. Let’s coin a name for a large group of crooked pols: it is a cohort involved in racketeering, so call it a Ricohort.
The Ricohort is going to continue getting away with robbing the taxpayers, until public outrage is stirred. No one in government is going to rock the boat, so it is up to brave journalists to document what is going on and stir public pressure to get investigations going into the fraud. That is why freedom of speech is critical. We have seen that eventually the Ricohort will be able to rig elections and print money. Then we need an intervention that can only come from a unique public figure, historic in importance, like our President Trump.
This has been the entire US spending corruption for the past 30 years. Nationwide, this could easily be deep into the hundreds of billions. The drug cartels are in this as well. They don’t just peddle dope, they peddle people across the borders, they sell children, they run massive sex-trafficking operations, and they loot the taxpayer tills in many different government benefit hustles.

Finally, after almost a year, MN is getting some attention on this.
I have a call in to the US Attorneys office about a group home on my block. Some of these homes are part of the fraud.
The one on my block is required to have supervisors for the residents. Prior to the sale this summer I saw buses, residents coming and going, supervisors helping the residents, residents outside having a smoke or talking on the phone and lights on at night signifying someone is there.
Now, the new owners have Somali women (supervisors?) coming and going, sometimes accompanied by men. What I don’t see are residents or any evidence of residents. Many nights it is totally dark, sometimes there are no supervisors there, no buses or ambulance or visitors or food deliveries other than small bags apparently for the supervisor only. They don’t shovel the walk and some of the vehicles coming and going are BMW’s and Lexus. There was even an autism response vehicle there for a few days plowed in by snow.
I’m suspicious that the owners are trying to make it look like they are providing service to residents but there are no residents! It does not look or act like a group home that would exhibit certain “activity”, unless the residents are bedridden and near death some nights totally in the dark.

Yep I see a lot of strange things going on, during dufus’s term we had groups of 3-5 Hispanic men walking down the street in brand new clothes fresh haircuts carrying plastic bags with I assume belongings. Always walking in the same direction. I see somali women everywhere in their burkas. Most of the neighbors are way left leaning.
House across the street has had different hispanic men arriving but never see them leave for a good year and ahalf. Use the back door to leave I guess. Used to be a single family home but no longer. Minneapolis has never recovered from the gf induced riots.
A few years ago I worked on election fraud in Minnesota.
I went through voter rolls looking for people who had legally lost their ability to vote, who had then voted.
The people who had lost their ability to vote were people who were deemed incapable of being able to make any decision, and a court of law granted that all their decisions would be made for them by a court appointed guardian.
A big take-away from doing that for me was seeing all the people with muslim sounding names who were in full-time care facilities. Their numbers seemed too high compared to Paulsons, Johnsons, Petersons, etc.
I still think about that, and wonder what the scam is and how they’re using it.

If the damage is $9 billion in Minnesota just through Medicaid, the total damage from all programs in Minnesota is massively greater.
