I fully understand that our individual control over national politics is limited. Justice and fairness at both the national and at times the local level is increasingly unequal. Most of the time our ability to rectify those conditions is also limited. I thus reflect on what Sundance has mentioned on many occasions, that what we as individuals can do is live our best lives. Do what we can for ourselves and our loved ones to create the best possible circumstances to live those ‘best lives’. Politicians/politics are mostly a hindrance to achieving that goal and to depend on them/it…is, well, despairing.
I close with a line from The Shawshank Redemption; Either, ‘Get busy living or Get busy dying.’ Do the best with the resources God has given you.

Err on the side of respecting rights, the agency of others, and non-involvement. More so than any other, this will keep you out of trouble. It’s only your business when you make it your business. That’s a choice. Make it with deliberation and consideration, not as a knee jerk reflex to emotionally loaded stimuli. That’s what separates the adult from the child and the citizen from the mob.
Those four precepts have come in very handy while my liberal friends and family went full ‘woke’ and the deaths, so many deaths, of those in my circle that my circle disappeared and had to find new footing in this opening salvo of the Big Ugly. If I may tack on to your fine post … not just false/positive results, but ordering the same test multiple times when just one test could rule in/rule out multiple diagnoses.
I am dealing with multiple medical issues. PCP ordered an MRI per issue. Took me two months of fighting the system for the doc to agree on one MRI to diagnose both issues. That won’t always work, in case very different body parts are being scanned, but it worked for me and saved me an extra $500 co-pay.

A SENATE “TRADITION” IS DESTROYING THE JUDICIARY
The Results of the “Blue Slip Tradition” — Judicial Districts in Blue States With Almost Entirely Democrat Appointed Judges.
For 12 of the past 16 years there has been a Democrat in the White House, but the Senate’s “Tradition” has been the main driver in destroying an independent judiciary.
[There are 677 authorized full-time district court judgeships in the federal judicial system. This is the “Trial Court” level of the federal judiciary. When they become vacant, these judgeships are filled by the President, with the “Advice and Consent” of the Senate. This “Advice and Consent” role has been developed by the Senate to include a procedure by which the “home state Senators” — the state where the Judgeship is open — have an effective veto power of any nominee.
But how does this process work when the President is of a party different than the two home state Senators of a particular state?
…The chart above reflects the number of District Court Judges by the President who appointed them in states that have had two Democrat Senators since the start of the Bush 43 Administration in 2001. The District Courts are the trial courts in the federal judicial system — the courts where Plaintiffs engaging in lawfare first run to in order to seek TROs and Preliminary Injunctions to stop the implementation of new policies by the Trump Administration.
The Senate’s confirmation of District Court nominees is subject to the “Blue Slip Tradition” in the Senate Judiciary Committee. This tradition is not part of the Constitution, it is not set forth in a statute, and it is not even part of the Senate Rules. It is a tradition upheld by Judiciary Committee Chairmen from both parties for more than 100 years.
…But the tradition has been corrupted. It is now used to simply hold open judgeships in Blue States with the hope of a change in the occupant of the White House — which would result in a bonanza of appointments to a long list of open judgeships by a new President of the same party. That’s exactly what happened in 2021.
…For all its “noble” purposes when first adopted, the Blue Slip tradition has now been turned into a partisan tool to hold judgeships open for the purpose of taking the opportunity to “pack the courts” with ideologically partisan judges when that opportunity presents itself. The partisan divide in the politics of the state is going to mirror itself in the partisan divide of the district court judges. Scrapping the tradition would mean that Presidents get to nominate judges at the rate the openings happen, rather than at the rate individual Senators let the votes take place — holding the process hostage based on partisan tactics.
Final note – the Trump Administration and the GOP Congress need to take a hard look at the distribution of federal district judges in some of the districts that are noted above. The current distribution reflects a very dated analysis of the country and its population…
…The Trump Administration and the GOP need to take a very hard look at re-allocating the distribution of district court judges away from old-line Eastern and Midwestern districts where declines in population over the past few decades are not matched by a change in the allocation of judicial resources. A small number of very Blue States have a disproportionately high number of federal district judges, which allows the liberal/progressive/socialist Senators from those states to have a larger that deserved influence on the composition of the federal judiciary at the trial court level.

The issue is that Dopey Care, aka the “Affordable Care Act” – which due to its very nature drove up health care costs for EVERYONE, regardless of how you obtain it or pay for it. The subsidies were ALWAYS there for the reason of attempting to hide this reality from the public. Additionally, the level and quality of care has progressively gotten worse and worse as it continues to wreck the health care system that used to exist.
The answer is most definitely NOT continuing the subsidies, but rather eliminating 100% the ACA and instituting a handful of common sense reforms.
