Solomon having shown the vanity of studies, pleasures, and business, and made it to appear that happiness is not to be found in the schools of the learned, nor in the gardens of Epicurus, nor upon the exchange, he proceeds, in this chapter, further to prove his doctrine, and the inference he had drawn from it, That therefore we should cheerfully content ourselves with, and make use of, what God has given us…
The Hebrew word olam in v. 11 translated in KJV as world also means long duration, forever, perpetual, eternity.

So, after the sin Adam and Eve weren’t just thrown out onto the street. (God still made them some cool coverings). Mainly (mercifully) because He wasn’t so much angry that they had fallen to the snake – (they really had no chance anyway) – but because first Adam blames Eve, then Eve blames the snake. None of them take responsibility, and on a deeper level they actually betray each other. (The Creator doesn’t like that).
So many days later Adam is lying there (probably on the beach) (him and Eve separated for a time), then it dawns on sad ole Adam – Dude – all you have to do is fix your mistake (take responsibility). Sure, you can’t undo the past, but you can (and must) correct what you do now. Fulfil the obligations you were created for – in short – be a better man.
Eve’s position was/is not so easy. Firstly she felt betrayed, let down, abandoned – and because she is closer to earth than Adam, she is more vulnerable to the snake. (Where was her Husband Adam?). Yet she does have one advantage – she knows exactly where she comes from/came from – Adam, (the poor sod) comes from Spirit – and that’s no easy take to figure out. (so does Eve, just 1 rung down)
This is why the Creator was so angry with the 2 of them – their union was supposed to be one of support, understanding, love, kindness, and respect – while conscious of each others being and purpose. Not a war.
So all we have to do is fix that – take responsibility – do repentance – shake/hold hands, hug, whatever, and get on with the show – the way it was/is written and supposed to be.
But before that (Love will…..) Adam was still doing his walk-about. (It took some time) – luckily he had some good vibes on his iPod, and every now and again, one would “click”.

This fictitious story makes for light-hearted conversation – yet it calls for an important one. Because this is hogwash …
The account of Adam, Eve, and God in the book of Genesis is foundational to the Christian faith.
It’s not something to joke about or gloss over as insignificant.
The Scripture clearly explains that sin – which is disobedience to God – is serious.
And it’s the very reason this world is in disastrous decline.
The “cool clothes” which you refer to were actually an act of God’s deep compassion and mercy.
It required the life and blood of an animal for the coverings.
Most importantly, it was a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ, Who gave His life and blood to cover the sins of those who would trust in Him.
So, it’s helpful to contemplate – with reverence – on these “cool clothes.”
God was angry with Adam and Eve because they disobeyed His command.
By doing so, they declared war on God.
Adam and Eve were created to bring glory and honor to God.
So are we.
That’s our purpose – not to be a better man/woman.
Adam was created from the dust and God breathed life into him.
Eve was no more susceptible to sin than Adam.
We are all in need of a Saviour.
Adam and Eve could do absolutely nothing to “fix” their mistake.
Only Jesus Christ can wash away our sins.
And, repentance is way more than giving a handshake, a hug, and the like.
We don’t “do” repentance;
rather, it’s an act of submission to God.
We confess with our mouth – to Him -our wrongdoing.
Then we submit to the Lord God and turn away from our sin.
So, none of us can do “anything” to save ourselves, be at peace with God, and be in right relationship with Him.
No one comes to the Father, but by His Son, Jesus Christ.

The 2026 Farmers’ Almanac will be our last edition.
Many of you grew up hearing your parents or grandparents quote from the Almanac, always having a copy nearby. Maybe you have planted by our Moon phases, consulted the Almanac for the “Best Days” to potty train, wean, or go fishing. We’re grateful to have been part of your life and trust that you’ll help keep the spirit of the Almanac alive.
We are incredibly proud of the legacy we leave behind and are filled with gratitude. We appreciate and thank our loyal readers, contributors, and partners who have supported us through the years. Though the Almanac will no longer be available in print or online, it lives on within you.
So go ahead—plant your peas when the daffodils bloom. Watch for a red sky at night. Tell the kids how granddad always swore by the Almanac. That’s how our story stays alive.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

In the early morning light, I see YOU;

Oh, but lately, Lord, I’m having trouble;
I’m anxious, lonely, and seeing double;
I do not know what has come over me;
It’s been really hard connecting with Thee!
Overwhelmed at times, I can find no rest;
From the constant barrage of evil’s quest;
From unwelcome guests who rob me of time;
From interrupted prayers to outright crime!
Where are you, Lord? I need you right now;
Come quickly into my heart somehow;
Fill me with your Spirit and make me whole;
Let me suffer no more with this empty soul!
Hear my cry in the day and into the night;
Protect me by day and by night, be my light;
Let not Thy presence be hidden from me;
In your mercy, Lord, hide my sin from Thee!

Evening Prayer For Forgiveness
Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Lord, I know that You have scheduled every day of my life. Help me to trust You in all things and rely on You to lead me along the straight path and guide me in the direction that You would have me to go.
Give me patience to wait for Your perfect timing, and may I not trust in my own abilities and scheming, but rather rest in Your love and trust my future into Your hands.

Prayer Of Thanksgiving In The Evening
Praise Your holy name Heavenly Father, for granting yet another day in my life and for being with me every step of the way. Thank You for the many blessings that You have provided and the love and fellowship that I have with the friends and family that in Your grace You have placed in my life.
My heart is so thankful for all the many blessings that I enjoy day by day, and today I am once again reminded that Your mercies are new every morning and Your faithfulness endures from generation to generation.
Thank You, that I have been brought into Your family and have been made a child of God and a citizen of heaven. Words cannot express my love and devotion to You Lord
I pray that You would watch over me as I rest tonight, and that You would give me a restful nights sleep so that I may wake up in the morning refreshed in body and spirit and ready to do Your will. Lawrence Welk was on my parents’ TV every week for at least a decade or longer. Then I think LW was syndicated and re-runs were shown on a local UHF channel…. Later, “Sing Along With Mitch” (Mitch Miller) was also popular in our living room (where the one and only TV was located).
From my research, three out of the four Lennon sisters are still alive as of Sept. 2023. Dianne (born December 1, 1939), Kathy (born August 2, 1943), and Janet (born June 15, 1946) are all living. Unfortunately, Peggy (born April 8, 1941) passed away on April 17, 2020.
