Animals all have the ability to master “the look” and “the stare” in circumstances such as the end of daylight savings time. No meow or barking necessary, simply the silent stare. (I swear mine even pointed to her wrist with her paw as if to indicate I should check my watch)

Biography: George Williams was an English philanthropist and founder of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA). The YMCA was established in London, England, in 1844 and would grow to become a worldwide organization with a focus on the spiritual, mental, and physical development of young people.
Williams was born on a farm in Somerset, England, and at the age of 14, he left home to become a draper’s apprentice in Bridgwater. In 1841, he moved to London and worked for a draper there. Concerned about the lack of healthy activities available for young men in the city, he founded the first YMCA to provide a space where young men could gather for prayer and Bible study outside the temptations and harshness of urban life.

That being said, after this blast of Arctic air comes through, thee are good many of us that will see a significant warm up just in time to get out and get those leaves out of our yards. More on that later.
My Generac.
The generator is set to do a self check by starting up and running for 15 minutes every Tuesday at 11:00 AM.
I don’t usually even notice it when it goes through that self check. But I can see the status indicator light while sitting at the table in the sun room and I noticed the red light which indicated something was wrong so it would not start.
I went out yesterday and opened it up and got code for the error. I then looked up the error code in my owners manual. It indicates a problem with starting and could anything from a dead battery to a fuse, to a loose wire according to the manual.
I then reset it to start automatically and the green light showing it was ready came on. That should not have happened if there really was a problem.
I put a red top gel battery in that thing when it was installed. The best you can buy. They premium type battery does not require a battery heater in sustained subzero temperature conditions like a regular battery would. I installed the battery myself using dielectric silicone on the battery connections. That battery should last several years.
I then called the dealer. The generator was due for it’s annual maintenance but being one year old the only thing needed done on the maintenance schedule was checking the gas supply for leaks and inspecting for water intrusion.
The dealer told me that the code I got (1505) is also what comes up when the generator is due for it’s annual maintenance that is required to be done by a certified tech in order to keep the warranty valid.
So I arranged for a tech to come out. He’ll be here this afternoon. I also bought the 10 years extended warranty which covers travel, parts, and labor if there is a problem through 2034.
The extended warranty cost $1,035.00. At this time a tech visit costs $125.00 just for travel.
It will not be until next year about this time that the oil and filter will be due to be changed unless we have a really extended outage between then and now. When I checked it yesterday the oil level and clarity were perfect.
Well! I screwed up. Though manual said I could use a red top gel battery I guess I got too big of one. Luckily it did not fry the electronics, or the starter which it could have. Too many amps for the starter and electronics. Now I am going with a standard b 26R battery and Monday the tech will come by and install a battery heater.
I will save the Red Top for when I need to put a new battery in one of my two vehicles.
Today I’ll mow and grind up leaves before this cold blast gets here. The cottonwood had dropped all it’s leaves. The silver maples are starting to drop a a good rate now. Getting what’s on the ground now taken care of will make things easier when I do the final grinding when the warm up comes after this arctic blast comes through.

There is a push to get the Navy to build another battleship. Did you know that when they reactivated the Iowa class battleships back when Reagan was president they called on the retired old timers that had served on them before to train the new crews in operation of the ship and the 16″ guns and turrets?
I was a witness the night the USS New Jersey lobed nearly 300 16″ HE shells into Bekaa valley in counter battery fire. A broadside from those nine 16″ guns basically sterilizes a grid square (1 sq. kilometer).
BTW the explanation for and target of those shells and reason for the shelling given on Wikipedia is BS! The targets were the Syrians and in particular their command and their artillery batteries. It was in retaliation for almost killing Ambassador Bartholomew and Donald Rumsfeld when they shelled the Ambassadors residence while Rumsfeld was there.
Shortly after that shelling my team was tasked to be an immediate reaction force in case the Ambassadors residence was attacked. We all met the ambassador and his security officer when we went to the compound to orient ourselves and make plans in the event we were called. He was from Georgia and liked to raise peach trees which he was doing on the embassy grounds.
He walked us over to a shell hole and said “They took out my prize peach tree and they killed one of my Lebanese guards. That’s when I called in the New Jersey.”

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. So, when God was deciding to bring down the Tablets to Earth, all the mountains put forward their “pitch” as to why they should be the chosen mountain. I assume Everest, and the Andes were making their best. Now, way way back in the cue sat little old Mt Sinai (not even considered a mountain by the awesome), probably feeling humbled, with a heavy dose of hopelessness.
Yet God chose him – why?? To teach us that He is there for the little guy, that the grandiose and high commit a fatal error – they assume. God also chose Moses to be the receiver for the same reason (he was the humblest person).
Another fatal error the grandiose make is they assume humble to mean weak, or subservient – which they are – but to God – because they understand that nothing, not your waking up, not your heartbeat, not even who you marry (for better or worse) is not directed and exists at all without His “say so”.
The humble aren’t really so humble when they can move mountains are they?
