Dick Cheney, former George W. Bush’s vice president died Monday from complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease, his family said in a statement; he was 84 years old.
“His beloved wife of 61 years, Lynne, his daughters, Liz and Mary, and other family members were with him as he passed. The former Vice President died due to complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease,” his family said in a statement released Tuesday morning.
“Am I the evil genius in the corner that nobody ever sees come out of his hole? It’s a nice way to operate, actually.” ~ Dick Cheney
He’s dead now. “Dick Cheney was a great and good man who taught his children and grandchildren to love our country, and to live lives of courage, honor, love, kindness, and fly fishing,” his family said. “We are grateful beyond measure for all Dick Cheney did for our country. And we are blessed beyond measure to have loved and been loved by this noble giant of a man.”

Someone else will have to carry the load on this one.
Is that one .. or two loaded barrels?
Remember the snide “Gravitas” label the demonRATS gave him to cover for “bushie”.
Followed by Darth Vader and his “weapons of mass destruction” hysteria.
Now, the RATS celebrate him, the creator of the BushCARTEL who betrayed America and gave us Obama/Holder.
I was always told if you don’t have anything good to say then keep the keep the thought in my head.
So this is me 😶
I think it was Tallulah Bankhead who said, “If you don’t have anything good to say about someone, then come sit by me.”
Now he can ride shotgun with John McCain.
Somewhere.
Very hot
There’s a joke about duck-hunting somewhere in that statement.
He often went duck-hunting with Hunter, who was a quack addict 🙂
Do you have a brother named EXCELMAN™ ?
Yes…
But unfortunately, he’s locked in a cell right now 🙂
LOL, perfect!
You win the Internet today, good sir!
Mr. Dante .. to the lowly courtesy red-ringer. STAT!
You beat me to it! 🎯
Buh-bye!
Slather on the sunscreen because it gets rather hot down there! 🔥 🥵
I see what you did there.
HAHAHA….you said….”shotgun” when talking about ol’ sharpshooter Cheney…
Grandma’s rules – I’ll hold my tongue. He is reaping what he has sown.
He will stand before a just God in that day.
As we all will, which is terrifying!
The fear of God must always supersede the love of God. That fear informs our POV as Christians to submit to His word.
I was taught not to say bad things about other people so I will say God rest his soul and I hope he likes dry heat.
Or Ice Cold per “the Inferno”
So long Darth
May he rest in peace and his family find a means to move forward from the loss of their father and husband. Agree, disagree, never speak ill of those that have passed. He’s left these earthly bonds and hopefully he’s made peace with his maker. May God rest your soul Dick Cheney.
I hear what you’re saying and the Christian side of me feels that the loss of one’s father is a sad event.
Having said that, there are a lot of maimed, disfigured, and deceased fathers that the policies of Dick Cheney left in his wake with his warmongering at the expense of so many lives.
I refuse to forget those families and dismiss their loss and I choose to grieve today for them. Period.
Let’s test that thesis: do we just agree, disagree about Adolph Hitler? And not speak ill of him since he ate a bullet eight decades ago?
Asking for a friend.
No love lost on this one. He was the truest of Country Club Republicans. Reward with a fat job as a the CEO of Halliburton. A role similar to Hunter Biden’s. The ultimate payoff for services rendered.
“We are grateful beyond measure for all Dick Cheney did for our country…”
Is present day a reflection of all Dick Cheney did for our country?
Apparently he was unable to make it to the top of the heart transplant list in time, this time.
Jabbed?
Exempt like all of Congress
He was retired, no? Maybe some spikey proteins nudged him on his journey via the boatman..
should have gone to Little Rock
I believe that he did have a heart transplant. Sometime after he was out of office.
The press said he gave “gravitas” to the Bush administration.
I learned a new word that day, as did every member of the press on that ‘fax blast’ …
Sometimes these phrases backfire.
Instead of undermining Dubya, gravitas gave reassurance.
Another phrase that back fired was Obamacare. Bum never cared. He hates us all.
Pepperridge Farms would have to go back and pull up that edition of the Rush Limbaugh Program to do justice to the widespread, instantaneous and universal use (among them all) in the use of the term “gravitas” IN UNISON by that assembled, huddled mass of the MSM ‘talking heads’ on that date to describe what the selection of “Darth Vader” Cheney meant when selected as Dubya’s running mate …
“One of the Greatest EIB Montages of All Time: Gravitas!”
.
RUSH: Do you remember when Bush chose Cheney to be his vice president?
.
Every media figure on cable news or who has a column in Newsweek or TIME Magazine or the Washington Post, New York Times, or on TV: “Cheney brings gravitas.” We have a montage that takes a minute and a half to play, with not one repeat.
.
You’ve got Jonathan Alter in there. You’ve got Sam Donaldson, twice! Now, you tell me: How is it that 50 Drive-By journalists can come up with the same word to describe a political event, the selection of Dick Cheney as vice president for George W. Bush? “He’s got gravitas.” Well, somebody had to come up with it first, and what would cause somebody to suggest “gravitas” to Cheney?
.
A bias against Bush as an idiot, uneducated, unserious, unsophisticated frat boy! So he chooses Cheney. Well, they’ve already got this picture of Bush based on nothing other than their own liberal prejudice, and so here’s Cheney, who has been in government for a long time. He’s been secretary of defense. He’s been chief of staff. He’s been a number of things for decades.
.
“Ah, he brings gravitas!”
.

Thank you Jim, and thank YOU Rush! Yes, I remember it well… (o:
As the saying goes, nothing nice to say about the dead so wont say anything at all about him. Ill let the family members of the countless dead and maimed from the senseless wars he started handle this one.
Well he was the greatest Vice-President from
TexasWyoming we’ve ever had.I speak ill of Hitler. Does the saying go not to?
The Cheney family has managed to tie the McStain family in their efforts to rewrite their patriarch’s history.
May he be fairly adjudicated by our Lord & savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
There is a long line of politicians that I would not want to be on judgment day. Dick Cheney is somewhere in that line
To bad his daughter is a vile hag…..
Fun fact, ole lizzy was born at the end of July 1966. This was almost exactly 9 months after draft deferments were eliminated for childless married men.
Well, that’s what happens when one goes full HILLARY..
* must run in the, um ..’famiLIE$.. just sayin.
He was a terrible human being. That’s all I should say…..
Mr. Cheney came across as an ugly souled, bitter, typical establishment republican who only cared about money. The Apple didn’t fall far from the tree with his daughter, Liz, aka, George Bush in heels.
His fate is reserved for God’s judgement, but it doesn’t mean I have to be sad that the vile demon is gone.
You can use the word “daughter” for her. I’ll stick with “demon spawn.”
I loved the GWB impersonator Steve Bridges’ take on GWB’s relationship with Dick Cheney.
“And speaking of the Great White Hunter, where is Dick? I ran into him in the hallway of the White House the other day and threw up my hands and said ‘don’t shoot!'”
“How could Dick manage to shoot the only trial lawyer in the country who actually likes me???”
Not only are the Liberal Loons celebrating so are the MAGA people.
The left and right agree on something.
“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on the soul of Dick Cheney, and cleanse me of any anger that hinders my love for my neighbor.”
I’m taking my mom’s advice. Nothing to say here.
I believe it was Mark Twain who said that although he never specifically wished for someone to die, there were some obituaries he read with great pleasure…
I will leave it at that!
Excellent comment VM 😀
Dick Cheney, the patron saint of RINOs.
I had not seen anything on him being in poor health.
Maybe I just missed it, but it must’ve been nice to have had the media on your side so that the family had all that privacy.
He has been in “poor health” for YEARS. It was not a secret. He was known to have had, at least one, massive heart attack. He had very advanced cardiovascular disease while he was VP. It’s the primary reason everyone knew that VP was always going to be his last position. Many, many republicans were not happy that W did not choose someone that could succeed him in office. For W’s second term, there was a lot of discussion related to choosing a different VP. W refused. Now we know that he was holding the office for Hillary.
Thank goodness that plan failed.
His anti-Trump ad showed him looking like death.
Rest in peace Dead Eye Dick.
Works without the Eye.
For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.
My impression is that he genuinely believed that the people of Iraq wanted democracy and would be nice people if we removed the tyrant.
The reality is that people have different values in their genes and in their culture, and they generally produce the government that they want. Props to him for proving that to the whole world. Sucks that it cost us so much blood and treasure, but his name will be the only argument needed in this particular debate for generations to come.
I think the average person attributes a lot of malice to the Bush administration for what happened in Iraq. On the contrary, I have an International Relations degree and especially at the time, the “liberal” concept of IR that brought us the disaster of the GWOT was 100% in control of all academic and policy discussions in this sphere at the time.
Almost everybody in our government who was making decisions about this stuff was taught, from their undergrad years on, that peace is the default setting between nations, that all people naturally tend toward democracy, and that culture is an unimportant factor in decision-making. We really could make the whole world like us if we just tried hard enough. Getting accepted to Georgetown, getting your internship, your degree, your job, your paycheck all depended on blindly believing that insane, but very nice-sounding, idea.
Part of the reason why the establishment hates Trump so much is that he’s an IR realist, probably the first one we’ve had in the presidency since WWII. They literally have no idea what he’s doing because if it’s taught at all, realism is sneered at.
I’m personally not mad at the Bush administration, or even Dick Cheney, for being wrong. I’m angry at these people for refusing to course-correct when it was obviously not working and ruining the lives of tens of thousands of servicemembers in the process.
Almost everybody in our government who was making decisions about this stuff was taught, from their undergrad years on, that peace is the default setting between nations, that all people naturally tend toward democracy, and that culture is an unimportant factor in decision-making.
These people were never taught, or refused to believe, the truth about trying to be neighbor to the nation of islam. Cheney saw islam for what it is, and realized its value in being the perfect enemy in a quest for perpetual war.
One can say because of Dwbya and Cheney policies we got 8 years of Obama. They gave us the patriot act and endless wars. The establishment Republican Party and RINO’s gave us Trump. Now we need to cleanse the party of the living RINO’s.
John Brennan’a brother by another mother.
Yipes, I want to say some many things about Duck Hunting. but that would not be nice. Oh well, interesting career. In some ways was an evil genius. True politician. Deep State lost one.
Since I can’t think of anything nice to say, and I don’t believe in prayers for the dead, I’ll just let this one go.
J
To loosely quote Bette Davis:
I have heard it said that one must only speak good of the dead.
*
Dick Cheney is dead.
*
Good.
I was trying to remember this quote!! Thanks!!
Good Riddance!
May God have mercy on his soul.
That guy wouldn’t know noble if you spotted him the first 5 letters.
he shot somebody in the face
Sad to be remembered for his hatred of President Trump. Sad to die in full blown TDS.
So true. The future for so many.
Our family certainly doesn’t hold Mr. Cheney in high regard. We suffered substantially when Cheney got his Golden Parachute from Halliburton as he ascended to be US Vice President. Company pay raises and 401K contributions were abandoned so Cheney could receive his Bonus. We found him to be a very selfish man.
I was always admonished to only say good things about the recently departed. Well, here goes. Dick Cheney is dead. Good.
Happening right now….
When I read the news that Dick Cheney passed away, this Kool & The Gang song was playing on the radio.
Celebration.
Do you feel the joy?
I won’t celebrate his death. I’m sure he’s enjoying his time in hell alongside the traitor McCain and “Take Her Down!” Ted Kennedy.
“That turd won’t flush, we’ll have to bury it Jim” may have been a line from the original Star Trek series.
darth vadar.
maybe when the uniparty rubs elbows at his funeral that could be his lagacy.
his last act moving the uniparty to pass a budget resolution and end his party’s gross mistake of holding American’s hostage for illegal alien benefits.
😳😏
Another one who I liked back before I knew anything. Back before DJT and Sundance ripped the scales from our eyes. Two far brighter lights also died yesterday, All Souls Day: actress Diane Ladd and the chick from the Grateful Dead. RIP.
We have to consider the Bush Administration in a broader context. I’ll take it over an Al Gore Administration any day. We didn’t have a Trump option back then.
True, Gore and Kerry were out of the question. So I don’t regret those votes. I more meant the neocon warmongering and Uniparty shenanigans that I was blind to at the time. And then W, Cheney, and so many others showed their true colors in betraying their successor and their own party. All buddy-buddy with Buraq and Clinton and won’t even shake Trump’s hand. They switched teams on us mid-game.
I just believe the GOP didn’t give the people who support them a minutes thought when sticking us with another global Communist pretending to be on the side of the people.
I used to be angry when same old same old choices were always selected as I knew only the top Republicans picked who would run.
The difference … algore & Kerry were clear about their destructive intentions – they knew democrat voters don’t care, don’t read, don’t speak English.
Bush and Cheney, lied to WeThePeople.
Also … the democrat party learned after the “hanging-chad” debacle … NEVER recount an election!!!
It only proves, again, they lost … that’s why the RATS claimed 24/7 they “won” 2020 … because they know a 2020 recount will prove President Trump WON in an epic landslide!!!
Also … the democrat party learned after the “hanging-chad” debacle … NEVER recount an election!!!
The democrat party learned an important lesson about all the clever deceptions possible when controlling the use of electronic voting machines.
Neocon
Wonder what “W” is thinking about?
Perhaps he is remembeing all the soldiers who died in the Iraq War, that he convinced us all was a necessary war.
…and also almost 500,000 Iraqis..
Good riddance to bad rubbish
For many of us he is an example of how far we have come. To think I supported him back in the day.
Facing his Karma
White House offers no comment on the death of Dick Cheney.
https://nypost.com/2025/11/04/us-news/trump-white-house-snubs-ex-vice-president-dick-cheney-offers-no-condolences-on-his-death/
That says alot with silence.
So “White House snubs” a former VP who said vile things about our former and current President Donald J. Trump. Why should he do anything for him. They will follow whatever protocol is called for. I can’t imagine that he would speak at the funeral or that his family would want him to.
Condolences to those who loved him. May God have mercy on his soul.
