The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) union has now released a statement [SEE HERE] saying both sides have proved their point, and it is now time to end the federal government shutdown and pass a short-term continuing resolution (CR).
This move will put significant pressure on the Leftists and Democrats to stop their federal government shutdown. The AFGE represents 820,000 federal and D.C. government workers. The position by the AFGE carries with it a cultural component in alignment with the DC membership makeup.
In approximately one week SNAP benefits will be at risk, and collectively the interests of the AFGE and the AME (African Methodist Episcopal Church) come into alignment. The change in position is not coincidental.
WASHINGTON — The country’s largest union representing federal workers is calling for lawmakers to pass a short-term spending measure to immediately end the government shutdown, urging Democrats to abandon their current position and join Republicans in supporting a stopgap solution.
“Both political parties have made their point, and still there is no clear end in sight,” American Federation of Government Employees President Everett Kelley wrote in a statement first shared with NBC News. “It’s time to pass a clean continuing resolution and end this shutdown today. No half measures, and no gamesmanship.”
The statement could increase pressure on Democrats to budge from their stance. Senate Democrats have insisted that they won’t vote to reopen the government without a commitment from Republicans and President Donald Trump on extending health care subsidies through the Affordable Care Act, which are set to expire at the end of the year. Without them, health insurance premiums on Obamacare markets will skyrocket for many individuals and families. (more)

Voting for Democrats has consequences.
–
Democrat politicians think its OK allowing
families to suffer under the shutdown.
They ” take responsibility for the damage done to everyday people”… Really?
Their statement is meaningless.
Dem Party credo — Party First, staying in office second, and to hell with the country
Yes, while at the same time lying and saying their credo is country over party. So sick of them.
And repeating ‘save our democracy’ … always ignoring our country is a Constitutional Republic and no one ever corrects them.
I’m with you, Ever, so sick of them and the uniparty.
Same words Fetterman keeps repeating.
Third: Protect the laundry machines.
They
They can’t even see the country in the rear view mirror.
You have a point. It sure doesn’t seem like AFGE is being Party first.
They truly believe they have the moral high ground.
Such arrogance.
Especially since they’ve demonstrated that they haven’t a clue about what morality really is.
Can’t fix stupid.
Or mendacity.
It’s time to get rid of the 60 Vote Cloture rule.
Id take getting rid of the blue slip rile 1st.
Theres no reason why the Senate should be held hostage by 1 senator.
The Blue Slip is un-Constitutional.
It says “by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate”,
not “by and with the Advice and Consent of A senator”.
It’s the Senates way of giving the impression they are far more important than they really are.
No
Just wait until Dems are in power once again sometime in the far far off future. The stuff they will pull will blow your mind.
Don’t end it.
One senator has been saying they should do so for CRs. Why has Thune not done this?
Also, a bill needs to be intro’d and passed whereby none of them receive a paycheck during shutdowns.
Just propose the bill, and force a vote.
“Dems are voting for their own pay, while blocking everyone elses”
It’s time for both Houses of Congress to do an audit of all the rules they have created over the past 250 years and get rid of the ones that no longer have a need and those that add undue hinderance to future congresses going forward for the next 250 years.
A D.O.G.E. for Congress is definitely called for.
Probably my least favorite union. (spit)
That would be all public sector unions, starting with teachers unions!
Get rid of ALL public sector unions!!!
I belong to my states teacher union. You may not like it, and I don’t vote what they tell me to, but the union is there for a reason. It’s a lot easier than you may think to get a teacher fired. My union reps and lawyers protect my rights to teach outside the box and are actually good at what they do.
Shocker…I’m in Oregon
And there are plenty of MAGA teachers where I’m at in So. Oregon.
I make 5k a month in SPED, so I’m not rich by any means and take on the most challenging kids my district has to offer in a high school setting.
Im a teacher, a nurse, a psych, a cop, a boss all in one. We have chronic staff turnover and admin failures.
Dont shit can teachers because of what you read. We work hard and deserve union supports.
Deserve union support? Crazy talk.
Outside the box? What is involved in this teaching?
“my rights to teach outside the box ”
Can you give us an example? From where do you derive this right? Is it in your union contract.
May a Christian teacher conduct bible studies during class that are not part of the approved curriculum (out of box)? Please elaborate.
You read my mind 🧠
Sounds like you agree with spitting on my union.
My out of the box is different from yours.
And I can tell from your posts that you don’t support SPED.
Obviously we can’t teach “bible studies” in a public school
Spit away.
I will keep doing my job with Christian values at a high level.
God bless you
You didn’t elaborate or better explain your position so we can make a sound decision to agree with you or not. You chose instead to attack me for asking honest questions.
I’m okay with public unions. Just not government unions even a state government union is not fair to its citizens.
My daughter is a teacher for disabled children.
And she’s a good one as well.
But they can’t be accountable for merit based hiring/firing. I know I heard this excuse for decades from my teacher sister. I’d always tell her what’s she afraid of if she’s a good teacher (which she was)? Her excuse was that hiring and firing was political within the school administration. I told her welcome to the real world of most people.
All business employment is somewhat political in some way. But in the private sector if the upper management sucks then you move on to find a better upper management.
No sympathy here. My niece (daughter of the teacher sister) actually shopped her special needs teaching skills and had a number of offers. She approached it like private industry employment shopping. That ended once she got the job and pay she wanted. Now she’s just another union protected employee.
That’s what unions are for. Protection of the worker.
Ive run my own business and earned the good and bad from that.
I made a lot of money and used it to fund my education.
How many of the posters here are self employed and killing it?
Unions are good for the worker.
Does that hurt your feewings?
Okay,
You have been here for a few weeks. And as we do here, I was trying to look at your side of it. But now that you exposed yourself with your last sentence I can tell you’re a troll!
It’s not just the 820,000 gov union workers- it’s all their families & friends who vote dumbocrat.
It be all those disgruntled people on assistance that are realizing who is really holding this up and denying them their free stuff.
It’s a choice now – illegals vs marginalized communities aka da hood et. al.
It’s always been a problem and will get worse-look at Chiraq.
? is – do they risk the loss & wait for future gain or cave.
The DNC coalition has always been united by hate and being against “whitey”. Problem is they all want a piece of the pie and some of them want more of the pie for themselves. So it’ll come down to illegals vs blacks. The party is going to implode in the very near future, despite the GOPe’s best efforts to save it.
Agreed.
Fox has become the “Here’s What Democrats Need to Do!”– channel.
Instead of the “Let’s Help Install Joe Biden!” -channel.
The feds are “right to work”. By law the union must “represent” all workers in the bargaining unit. So when you read “represent 820,000” know that far fewer actually belong to the union or care what it does.
Optics is the key. Numeric details aren’t going to change that.
Bow ties. Do they belong to the Farrakhan Cult?
At least a Bowtie gives fair warning about the smuck wearing it.
Beanpies!
Just looked at picture, had wondered what Erkel was up to these days.
For the first time in forever, democrat voters are finally experiencing the consequences of their politics. It’s quite the experience to actually see it, especially with the usual republican bogeyman blame game failing miserably—also what feels like a first.
Except they are blaming the Republicans, so they are not seeing what you think they are seeing.
They are blaming who they are told to blame. Lemmings have a higher IQ than Democrats.
There are none so blind as those who refuse to see.
Running out of popcorn
Harvest is well under way in many locations. Expect a fresh supply to hit the store shelves shortly.
The union is helping Schumer to cave. No guarantees to fund illegals or put money into Obamacare subsidies. Opening the government right now simply allows pay for workers who have been working.
One thing that should be resolved in this is that those furloughed during any government shutdown for being nonessential employees should not receive full pay upon the reopening of government. Full salary repayment simply means these nonessential workers were granted an extended PAID VACATION!!
“Nonessential” varies depending on who you ask. The law says they will be paid. And that seems fair since they didn’t ask for the shut down and they want to work.
Fair? How was it fair during Covid stupidity when average Americans could not go to work who wanted to, but didn’t get paid. Guess you kinda forgot how fair it was for the government employees to get paid setting at home, while everyone got a big fat zero.
Fair my butt. Non essential means government can run without them. Give them their walking papers.
One thing (Covid) does not conflate to a shut-down. They have nothing to do with each other. The term non-essential is an unfortunate government choice, but it doesn’t mean gov’t can’t run without them. It just runs, generally, doing less of what it needs to do day to day, particularly in the defense sector. Essential means critical for life-safety & protection of gov’t property.
I agree, many think of it as a paid vacation. But there are others, especially those new to working for the government that don’t have a good emergency fund that are hurting.
However, the bigger issue if you are non-essential then why are you on the payroll?
New but non essential??
That means not needed. Get rid of them
As I recall the first year is conditional.
If the union employees on furlough being paid then no union dues will be deducted from their checks and given to the union. The union dues are primarily used to support democrat politicians and the huge salaries of union leaders. So there’s that to consider.
Union leaders are still getting paid, they are Always paid their salaries through strikes.
That’s quite true. But there’s more to the dues story than that.
The entire AFGE headquarters operation, from the President’s Office down to the front desk, is dependent on those dues to get paid, keep the lights on, and yes, donate to Democrat candidates at the federal level.
Hence the AFGE president’s call for full back pay!
No dues = No AFGE
Simple as.
Can the GOPe hold the line on no back pay?
No work, no pay, no dues, no political ‘contributions/bribes’
In general, employees on furlough, union membership or not, do not get paid during a shutdown.
I can’t think of a shut down when anyone didn’t get paid at the end. Those that worked were really ticked off at those with paid time off.
I remember when local steelworkers union would strike, instead of pay -$600/wk, guys would get $50/$100 per wk from union ‘strike fund’….to paraphrase that one female democrat Senator ‘action was not good leverage’…boo hoo w illegal Federal unions not protecting their pampered members…
MAGA and America First means making public sector unions illegal.
Even FDR didn’t like them.
Management is negotiating with Other Peoples Money, and there are not really two sides. Plus, people are stuck with the product.
Umm, there’s no right to bargain over wages, really anything important. Tends to be more about how cubicles are laid out or where designated smoking area is. From what I’ve experienced, the union’s first concern is getting gov’t provided space for union activities, and gov’t funded manhours for union business.
Though yes it does provide a vehicle (FLRA) besides MSPB to complain about management so you have to have a labor relations section in your HR dept.
I couldn’t agree more.
If the job is paid from taxpayers, the job should not be in a union or at the very least the union should not have a right to negotiate pay/benefits .
That’s a bunch of crap. A sector of labor deserves representation no matter what it is.
Doesnt matter if it’s a public sector. Every one has the right to assemble and appoint reps in negotiations.
Where did this “no representation for public funded sectors” come from?
You have the right to vote for your potential state and federal labor reps to represent you, the anti union side.
Go grandstand for your preferred state and federal opponents of organized labor in the next election.
I don’t agree with everything my unions support, but I’m a realist.
I accept the deals my reps make with other entities because it generally leads to increased wages and benefits for me and my family.
Can you really not see the difference between public and private sector unions? I could explain it to you, but I cant understand it for you.
In many places if 50%+1 vote in a union, you have to assemble with them, if you want to or not. Thankfully, the feds are “right to work”.
This is realism? Needing a negotiating representative is realism?
You don’t get that public employees have leverage on people they’re electing and that’s a problem?
Stop being obtuse.
Well, that’s exactly the case for feds. Though I’m not sure if they can negotiate things like RIFs and furloughs.
You always have amazing comments!
(more)
NOTICE the leftist slant about the obamacare from these creeps! No mention that it is illegals that they want coverage for.
Nor that it is the dims that set the sunset date on the subsidies.
When discussing “subsidies” as I understand it during covid the subsidy was temporarily increased for two years and then extended to the end of 2025 by the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act”.
The Dems want to make this increase permanent. The original ACA subsidies would continue otherwise.
But the real question is not about subsidies at all, and they don’t want to address it. Namely, does the ACA actually allow Americans to get good health care and health care workers to do their jobs, or does it serve the interest of insurers?
If you can’t get a doctor because your subsidized ACA “insurance” only lets you see a nurse practitioner, and if you get to see an actual MD if he/she has to spend all the time entering data into “electronic medical records” is that subsidy doing you any good?
Of course its not the ACA aka Affordable Care Act in this article, as one may wonder how the prices are going to skyrocket with an Affordable Insurance system.
So now its Obamacare
The VA where I work part time at, this union was essentially hamstrung by Trump it has no collective bargaining ability. The administrations now can run rough over the employees (i.e. make them work) and it makes me smile.
No OMB RIFs – President Trump, like many others, seems unwilling to substantively cut the Federal Goliath.
Tariff Revenue increase – A+
DOGE Phase 1 – $200 Billion in suggested cuts – A+
DOGE Rescission to enact Phase 1 – Incomplete
DOGE Goal of cutting $1 Trillion seems bogged down – Incomplete
OMB RIFs – F – no permanent layoffs to 1.5 million non essential Federal staff
Even with an increase in Revenue, our costs are going to eat us alive. $1 Trillion in yearly interest payments, $38 Trillion in debt.
Your report card is WRONG and missing the major roadblocks that has slowed, if not stopped allot of President Trump’s actions …. the US Legal System via Lawfare … which has been successfully used because:
The Republican Congress has purposely sat on the sidelines; not supporting the President with Legislation nor even public support.
The Republican Congress …. privately threatening if the President ignores the courts as many “think” the President has the authority to do.
The Supreme Court refuses to execute its Article III Powers as well as refuses to exercise the oversight powers written into the Congressional Act creating the Federal Courts.
President Trump is NOT a King nor Dictator … he is subject to the legal forces that can be deployed against him via the Checks and Balances deployed against him (no matter if those checks and balances are correctly used or not).
PC just likes the doom and gloom… he/she has been told all of the above many times, yet he/she repeats the doom just about every day.
Even MYSELF, the eternal great skeptic, can see what is happening.
Don’t be too hard on the pessimists … we ALL have been through several games of 4-D Chess and Bucket Loads of “Boom Announcements” as well as plate loads of wish sandwiches over the past 10 years … not hard to see how one can easily travel through the valley’s of doom and success these days.
The old base is starting to feel jilted about the chase for the replacement base.
Now they know how the white blue-collar working class base felt in the 1960s.
That’s just how the ponzi scheme, called the “Democrat” party, operates.
The Democrats already own the black people. Their new savior shtick is the illegal. You get what you pay for.
The socialists have opted to fight another day because their constituents are about to get hurt.
They will have to find another way to trick the simp republicans into helping them achieve the REAL goal of all this theater:
Nuke the filibuster.
The socialists are drooling at the possibility of Johnson/Thune falling for that trick because without the filibuster, they will be totally unrestrained when they regain power.
What a load of BS … BOTH Parties have SELECTIVELY used Senate and House Rules changes whenever needed to alter Filibuster Rules as well as suspend the Senate “60 Vote” rand other ules whenever needed over the past 40 years.
Then after the voting was done … the switch was flipped to turn on Filibuster and 60 Vote rule again.
Also, pretty hard to ignore that the New Democrat Marxist Party has publicly committed to ending the Filibuster and 60 vote rules as soon as they regain power in the Senate.
Also, guess you missed the House rules changes Nancy Pelosi made in 2018 leading up to Impeachments 1.0 and 2.0 as well as the J6 Commission … which will be put back in place if the House Flips.
so if we keep the fillabuster the dems will keep it when they have a majority? drink more coffee
I’ve tried to type a long post twice and I keep getting booted before I can hit send.
Try typing your post in Word or Notepad, etc. saving the document, then copying and pasting the text in a post here. Hopefully that will work.
It didn’t help when democrat members of congress spouted off on the actual Media outlets watched by their constituents … stating that denying government handouts via the the democrat shutdown was being used as leverage …. or in the immortal words of Cleavon Little in the movie “Blazing Saddles” as Sheriff Bart held the gun to his own head …. “one more move and the “N” gets it”.
Do whaaaat he sez…Do whaaat he sez….
I see this more as a tactical retreat by the Marxists than a “surrender”.
Don’t be fooled by the idiots put in front of the TV screens as being the leadership of the Democrat Party … i.e. AOC, the squad, Schiff, Swalwell, et al. The ones actually pulling the strings know they need to back-off for the present. The Marxists have successfully assumed control of the Democrat Party. They now need to consolidate and plan carefully for 2026.
I follow some socialist/Marxists. They all see the Dems as part of uniparty. That’s why the interest in Mamdani whom they see as “outside” the uniparty.
They totally laugh at Harris, the Clintons, Obama, Biden, etc. In their view both parties are controlled by the oligarchs.
All we hear is talk about skyrocketing premiums. Yet, no one has shown what the premiums were and what the new premiums will be!
Obamacare was never meant to be affordable so much as to lead to a single payer system run by the Federal Government.
Meanwhile, parties within the healthcare system are taking people for everything they’ve got with no market forces functionally able to constrain prices by government fiat.
Got to burn down the healthcare system to in order to “save it”.
I agree with your assessment that the overall objective is a national single payer system that looks like the EU and Canadian Systems.
However, I suggest we burn down down the current health care and insurance system … and try to reset to pre-Obamacare somehow..
Leading up to the installation of Obamacare and Associated Laws wrecking the Healthcare System and Insurance Industry, as it existed at the time … employers were actually getting pretty good at negotiating rates and preserving care rendered per dollar. The health care insurance industry was actually getting competitive (a bad thing if one is a socialized medical system fanatic).
The rates I was paying for myself, spouse and 4 athletic kids (who had their share of injuries) had been going DOWN 3-years running in terms of premium, deductible and out of pocket. It was actually getting better.
Note: the dirty secret about those EU and Canadian Health Care systems … if you have the money to to afford it … one can BUY levels of enhanced access, levels of enhanced care and pass to the front of the line. I sure the Elites in the US would insist on the same here in the US as well if Single Payer ever comes to pass.
Restoring the Healthcare scene prior to obamacare would be an improvement, and would likely garner a lot of opposition from Big Harma in the process.
Cant say you are wrong after all the changes and consolidation made by the Health Care Industry to comply and do business under Obamacare related Rules.
Burn down everything and anything that stands between a patient and their doctor.
Everything.
The “health” management systems — or medical insurance companies — aren’t necessary, they’re fairy dust that sucks all the cash out of the room.
No argument from me.
A lot of those administrators and middle men that added no value to patient health outcomes have made out like bandits for far too long.
That’s true, Insurance companies are just parasites, sucking all of the cash out of the room.
They survive off of being able to get between the doctor and the patient, and sucking the cash out from everyone’s pockets under the false pretense of medical care, raising the cost of medical care.
Number one goal for socialists is single payer aka medicare for all. They see ACA/Obamacare as a sellout to insurance companies like United Healthcare (and they celebrate who they refer to as “Saint Luigi”).
Obamacare was implemented to bankrupt the middle class.
among many other malicious motives.
‘both sides made their point’?
Ok, don’t cave Rs. Let Obamacare subsidies expire to show after 15 years it was always untenable, don’t fund an additional $1.5 trillion for 7 months (?) including $200 billion for illegal aliens.
Just take the ‘W’ and force the Dems to reopen govt. A commie in the hand is worth two in the bush. Murkowski stated she would not go nuclear!
Again, not subsidies, but increased subsidies put in place during covid.
I am all for DoD / SecWar setting up receipted giving site for troop pay only. Receipt can be used at tax to deduct from your total liability reducing what you owe or generating refund. Always want to tell the govt how to spend my tax dollars!
I bet we in the real USA could pay the troops for a long time…. And if the Dems tried same for SNAP and welfare it would not amount to beans.
As much as the idea appeals to me, I don’t trust any of them enough in the Pentagon or IRS to not screw me or our warfighters over in the end.
I’d rather support them directly without middlemen involved who’ll inevitably get thier cut before the charity is disbursed to those in need.
I don’t think the politicians want the military to be left unfed.
In general, receiving “commuted rations” in cash was considered a “benny”. That said, not sure how units buy food since that normally is funded annually. Might not be the worst thing to have everyone subsist in the mess.
BITD, your three-high rack in a berthing compartment was your “adequate quarters”.
Can someone please remind me why we need public sector unions?
Somebody has to launder the donations as well as coordinate Deep State orders to the rank and file resistance in the unionized government entities.
Look at the big UNION Picture in the US. They represent only a small fraction of US Labor … but … one has to look closely at what the UNIONS control … it’s very strategic and very well thought out.
The Unions have focused on control of key assets that can:
Shut down the government … Federal to Local Levels.
Shut down Communications.
Shut down Transportation.
Shut down a single key Industry that has cascading impact across non-unionized economic sectors.
Note: The current head of the AFL-CIO is a Lawyer who specializes in the I/T Industry.
Fraud and Abuse!
Sure, I’m your huckleberry.
Every sector of labor deserves representation under a union negotiated contract.
If you want to go at it yourself, have at it.
Ive owned my own business and had success doing my own negotiations.
Ive also worked in multiple unions (UA local 393 plumbers and my current union @ teaching publicly)
One can not deny the right for people to organize. If you think that right is disallowed because of public funding (taxes), take a look at nearly every labor sector in the country. You ok with cops? Judges? Sanitation? Fire and EMTs?
Might want to think about the hypocrisy of “no public funded unions”.
They are here and now and you depend on them even if you don’t realize it
Here, police LTs are in the union. I consider them management. Even SGTs should not be allowed in a union.
What you describe existed 75 years ago and NO LONGER Exists.
Unions are a now criminal enterprises that do nothing more than launder money and work as blackmailers for hire. They do not even give a rats ass about the members.
And hold out for above market pay. It’s a collusive, corrosive and corrupt construct. I don’t care if it’s within your rights, it’s an awful construct that has far outlived its usefulness.
What does the union do for teachers? Police? Fire?
With ubiquitous whining, the issues are broadly known. Comp and benefits seem the purpose. I know how the rest of the employed world deals with comp and benefits that are inadequate.
I still don’t understand why Trump hasn’t allowed Vought to pull the trigger on significant program terminations and RIFs……
The current situation makes the dems look like the big meanies. Your suggestion would make the dems look like saints while Big Meanie Trump fires people.
There should never be unionized government employees. The idea that we ever allowed that is crazy
Part of the Jimmy Carter legacy.
No SNAP, no peace. The criminal element is salivating.
This is the jobs program for otherwise unemployable parasites.
Paying jobs, for votes. Free food, for votes. Free housing, for votes.
Interesting how the taxpayer is always footing the bill for these vote plantations.
Just don’t ever leave the vote plantation, especially at ballot harvesting time.
Anybody else wonder if cutting off the EBT flow is the dem’s way to start a lil Reichstag fire?
And, with the assistance of the MSM, blaming it on Trump?
Good video I viewed today. A lady in Tennessee goes to have her nails done. On her own dime.
While there, she observes that a whole lot of people present getting nails, eye lash weaving,
designs on the nails are all complaining. About their EBT being cut off. Good online commentary
by a black conservative guy, who’s name I didn’t catch.
Basically said that the priorities were all wrong. Paying for hair/ nails because you’ve got the EBT
discount for pesky things like food on the table. In my old neighborhood there were three places to
get your hair braided, nails done. In an area roughly 1/2 x 1/2 mile. No cars in the lot, everyone walked.
No waiting for the bus, nobody worked. But there was enough food stamp $$ , drug proceeds to keep
the salons humming.
“Let’s declare victory and go home”
WHAT IF the Continuing Resolution FINALLY gets recognized as not good?
The House passed CR only extended funding to 22 Nov. Kind of pointless now.
The union also has another vested interest in having the Democrats pull their heads out in that prolonging the shutdown will allow POTUS Trump to further downsize the federal government eliminating union members jobs.
Denial of telephone service at Ossoff and Warnock’s offices’ by military members assigned to one of 5 Georgia military bases got their attention.
Just sayin…
Insert Mickey and both middle fingers please.
Bowing to any union that represents SEIU global communist shove shattered
AFGE Democrat supporters are finding they are just useful idiot expendable assets. Your politician “friends” would rather shutdown the government and your paycheck over providing healthcare benefits for illegal aliens. Election Day is coming, vote wisely.
The letters AME have always had a different meaning to many, going to be hard to remember the true meaning.
I promise to try.
I haven’t seen any GOPe assertions that “any damage to the economy, recession, job losses, are the direct result of the Democrat shutdown of government.
It has been argued tha the Dems are hoping that the next recession (collapse) will happen on PDJT’s term. The stupid GOPe should ‘prepare the ‘economic battlefield’.
I’ve read a couple articles that said that the Democrats have not known how to get out of the mess they created for themselves with their Schumer Shutdown..
I see this has a group of ‘their own’ throwing them the rope to grab.. to move forward and save face.
But will they be smart enough to grab it?
And lets hope that the Republicans don’t give an inch.
This wasn’t about proving points, it’s about solving serious problems, the need to do that hasn’t gone away.
Proving a point is not the goal here..
Human nature to take a difficult topic and make it about winning vs losing at all costs.
I’m dealing with this at work right now. One group is so hell bent on firing people from the other group, that all comms have shut down. Good never comes of that for either party.
How do you get out of a mess like that? Usually somebody needs to just cave, and the other guy needs to let it go and move on.
But that’s the problem with calling everybody H-tler. You can’t back down from that, and nobody being called H-itler is going to just let that go.
Well, here is the thing too:
There is one side that lives in fantasyland and one side that does not.
So the Democrats are having a harder and harder time predicting what the right is going to do in response because they are so far gone now.
Meanwhile, the Democrats have gotten very easy to predict; whatever makes no sense at all is what they’ll do.
If it screws over Americans and America, this is what they’ll do. Whatever will lead to the worse case scenario, this is what they’ll do. They have no loyalty at all to us anymore at all.
They’ve gone down this road to this shutdown and I don’t think it got them where they wanted to go and it also has not gone as they thought it would, so how to back out of this place is now that much harder.
As for your work, that is a hard call.
We’re in a mess because a whole lot of people need to be fired, we need a huge cleaning out of a whole lot of dead wood. There is so many people today that are epic pains in the ass that are setting us all back for every reason under the sun.
BUT on the other hand, finding good help that is what we want is not very easy today either.
So I don’t envy the people that need to make these choices, in many cases it’s a damned if you and damned if you don’t situation.
In so many cases the boss needs to simply make a choice and everyone needs to accept it and deal with the fallout so that things can move forward.
“……….and it is now time to end the federal government shutdown and pass a short-term continuing resolution (CR).”
NO! It is long past time to end the shutdown and construct a legitimate budget, as congress is constitutionally mandated to do, so we can get this fiscal mess under control. Congress hasn’t done their job and produced a budget since the final year of the George W. Bush administration. Instead, it’s been a seemingly endless game of Continuing Resolutions with zero fiscal accountability. Why, in the name of all that is good and holy, are we the people tolerating this fiscal madness??
No. No constitutional mandate for a budget.
There is in fact a budget in place, and it was amended by the OBBBA.
The appropriations process is to fund the expenses approved in that budget. The budget did not include extending the covid-increased subsidies. In effect the Dems want to amend the budget.
Wow.
November 1st no more SNAP. We are only left with Crackle and Pop.
I just think it’s hilarious that Schumer even tried a shut down.
The Media worked so hard to prove it was the Republican’s fault.
Then, Media tried…both parties were at fault.
Now it’s, all Republicans need to do is let Democrats have what Democrats want.
If the Democrats would just shut their mouths they’d likely bite their own tail.
A “Shut Down”is unfortunate.
A “Shut Up” is what we all suffered during Biden Covid tyranny.
No comparison.
I’m sure some Dems would prefer riots, but this will cause, or allow, them to fold, even if they try to hold out for OsamaCare funding.
Because they know in a month all the permanent cuts, RIF, will be Trump’s and Trump’s alone choice to make. No judges, nobody can say nuthin’ to stop. The union is just trying to protect their jobs. Nothing more than that to read into it.
No one cared when so many small businesses lost their income during COVID shutdown, why should we care that the EBT and useless government employees have lost theirs?
Exactly
I hope they don’t end the shutdown. I’d like to see what happens when those supposed 40 million on SNAP and EBT stop getting their taxpayer funded grift. How about section 8 – is that affected? I bet of the 40 million at least 25 million are just grifters, illegals or even legal immigrants. There are no “immigrants” who should be on taxpayer assistance.
SNAP/EBT/Section 8 and SS Disability was accelerated from Obama forward. There are many “immigrants” on SS disability along with many US citizen grifters who just don’t want to work.
Really, why does the country need “immigrants” that go on assistance?
Must be another agenda.
They are afraid of more gov workers being laid off the longer this lasts. Trump has a free hand to slash the budget during this time and he isn’t afraid to do it. The very first time Republicans have held the line (except for a squish or two)
The massive government employee unions are worried about getting exposed and lose their shadow government role fronted by the Democrats they choose to get elected.
Shhhhhhhh…….long the dirtiest secret in Washington DC – it is really run by the deep state government employee unions. Too much publicity right now. They are panicking.
Hope this ends the shutdown
What is with the bow tie? Is the subliminal message that I am missing?
Most of the corrupt Unions urged their members to support the Council On Foreign Relations written “NAFTA” pushing President Billy Boy ChinaGate Clinton. NAFTA was set to outsource millions of union and non-union Heritage American jobs.
Pat Buchanan rightly called Free Trade “Economic treason”
