The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) union has now released a statement [SEE HERE] saying both sides have proved their point, and it is now time to end the federal government shutdown and pass a short-term continuing resolution (CR).
This move will put significant pressure on the Leftists and Democrats to stop their federal government shutdown. The AFGE represents 820,000 federal and D.C. government workers. The position by the AFGE carries with it a cultural component in alignment with the DC membership makeup.
In approximately one week SNAP benefits will be at risk, and collectively the interests of the AFGE and the AME (African Methodist Episcopal Church) come into alignment. The change in position is not coincidental.
WASHINGTON — The country’s largest union representing federal workers is calling for lawmakers to pass a short-term spending measure to immediately end the government shutdown, urging Democrats to abandon their current position and join Republicans in supporting a stopgap solution.
“Both political parties have made their point, and still there is no clear end in sight,” American Federation of Government Employees President Everett Kelley wrote in a statement first shared with NBC News. “It’s time to pass a clean continuing resolution and end this shutdown today. No half measures, and no gamesmanship.”
The statement could increase pressure on Democrats to budge from their stance. Senate Democrats have insisted that they won’t vote to reopen the government without a commitment from Republicans and President Donald Trump on extending health care subsidies through the Affordable Care Act, which are set to expire at the end of the year. Without them, health insurance premiums on Obamacare markets will skyrocket for many individuals and families. (more)

I work for the federal government. Trust me, the union is only there to drag out the firing process for poor performers. It’s infuriating. I’ve never joined the union and never will. “Accountability” is the new mantra at work, and I’m glad to see it. Glad the union is no longer active where I work.

Nevertheless, the AFGE encouraged “No Kings” activism and all of that. I made specific demands they maintain focus on the interests of the union members rather than on the Democratic party which is clearly NOT aligned with the interests of government workers.

They’ll get back pay–completely unlike those in the private sector who have their employers/jobs shuttered by the federal government. Why should they get paid for work that they didn’t do? At the very least, they should now have NO VACATION time and no paid holidays until they have worked through every day of the shutdown. IE, shutdown is 28 days long, employees must work 25 days of their vacation and/or holidays until the time made up equals the number of days of the shutdown for which they weren’t on their non-essential jobs.

If the roles in this shutdown were reversed and Democrats controlled the Executive Branch, they would have no problem prolonging a shutdown which threatened their serfs’ ability to feed themselves. Massive social unrest, media talking points about a “Republican famine” targeting urban minorities, and control over the military and law enforcement would be The Crisis that Could Not Go to Waste.
The various DNC stakeholders are beginning to blink only because they do not currently possess the mechanisms to control the demons they wish to unleash.

2 years ago when I had extra funding I purchased survival food in case of weather emergencies. I have sampled some of the meals included and most only need hot water to prepare. I can wait out as long as nine months if the ghetto grifters decide to loot and corporate mega stores temporarily close up. other necessities to survive are also stored. Just prepared for any type of national upheaval than may/may not happen within the next few weeks/month.

Our military personnel on active federal duty aren’t allowed to unionize.
Why should any other federal employee be allowed to do so? It simply becomes an exchange of votes for pay raises, with the taxpayer always getting the shaft.

There’s a supreme court ruling that says union members can not be forced to contribute to unions on first amendment grounds, because unions use that money for political purposes.
My guess is that this so called unions days are numbered. It is an unelected by the people racially segregated and divisive political entity working within the government. By it’s purpose alone it is illegal under constitutional law.
Many folks said the same thing after Pres. Reagan terminated the govt’s employment of the Air Traffic Controllers who went out on strike in August of ’81. But the union remained….
PATCO union was decertified by FLRA in 1981.
Only to be replaced by The National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) in June of 1987. Essentially the same union, with a different name. They only pledged to never illegally strike…..

If it goes any higher, people always have the option to pay cash for services, if cash is available, or just opt out of the circus, and discover homeopathic remedies where they can be applied. When I worked for the government I went to a few union meetings. I was appalled by those who ran the chapter and withdrew my membership. Talk about rigged elections…..
I could write all day. The Senior Executive Service (SES) should be abolished. I did know several good leaders who applied to the SES. None were ever promoted. However those SES I worked for were the worst. Horrible corruption and obvious discrimination. They were basically untouchable. The whole rotten edifice should be broken to smithereens!
