China holds a monopolistic level of control on the industrial processing of rare earth minerals. The minerals themselves are not rare; it’s the processing of them into refined elements used in industrial electronic component manufacturing that gives China power.
The U.S. and China hold a current trade agreement saying, essentially, we will remain steady with the baseline tariffs in exchange for Beijing maintaining a consistent policy on the export of processed rare earth magnets and minerals. The announcement of export controls by Beijing violated the terms of that trade agreement, and President Trump responded by announcing an additional retaliatory tariff of 100%, effective November 1st.
China then sent a clarification statement saying current licensing and trade agreements would be honored. On his flight to Israel, President Trump said, “I think I know what happened, I know what happened” and downplayed the trade action. U.S Trade Representative Jamieson Greer gives some background. The rarity in rare-earth elements is not in the availability but in the processing. Well nigh time that the U.S. resumed processing, with a vengeance.
It would help the U.S.A. if we started producing our own rare earth minerals again.
Therefore, the democrats will fight it tooth and nail.
As I understand it, they were able to shut down production here to begin with.
Environmentalism was/is a very successful Soviet operation.
Actually, it was the globalist commies to destroy Capitalism.
globalism requires dependence on everyone that can be rotated to enforce dicipline
Time to educate the public on the folly of believing envirowhackos.
Environmentalists will find a way to block that processing.
the machines are in the netherlands – purchase them
https://investinholland.com/doing-business-here/industries/high-tech-systems/
The Netherlands is more than a destination for global high tech systems and materials businesses. Innovators in robotics, quantum, semiconductor, photonics, aerospace and electrical vehicles are shaping the future here – and these industries are growing at speed.
85% of all chips manufactured make use of equipment made in the Netherlands
The ban on ASML sending their chip manufacturing machines to China has backfired. China can now makes their own machines. ASML warned this would happen.

MAGA. Never back down.
In the Asian food aisle of my grocery store the foods imported from China have warning labels on them that say “WARNING: Consuming this product can expose you to chemicals including mercury, which is known to the State of California to causes cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.”
I Googled what that was about and a bunch of posters with names like “Chi Xiong” and “Ming Xiao” said it’s just silly Americans being frightened of everything.
The problem is that 80% of China’s water is polluted, not just with human waste but toxins, carcinogens and heavy metals. Their food is grown and processed with that water.
Do not buy food from China.
That “prop 65” warning is on everything in California- I even saw poppy’s at Home Depot with that warning.
That’s the same thing the “Chi Xiong” and “Ming Xiao” shills said. I see you’ve changed your screen name to something a little more Engrish.
This isn’t in California. And no food from any other country has that warning label.
Oh, I agree with you about the food- I was just pointing out how ridiculous Cali is with that warning on everything- plants, clothes, sandals, I see it on a lot of products out here.
Rare earths are just one of many strategic global supply chains China now dominates.

Accomplished with decades of focused hard work, while the US has been sinking itself with forced identity class “equity” since 1964 when the Civil Rights Act was passed kicking off “affirmative action” which morphed into the DIE/CRT cancer that metastasized to the current Stage IV Terminal condition.
At this point, a cancer patient cannot be saved, only given palliatives by hospice to ease suffering in the death process. The current temporary reprieve from DIE/CRT does not remedy the condition permeating US society, it only temporarily slows the progression while debt-driven bread and circuses keep the populace entrained as the “managed decline” of the US continues.
Some suggest that this “managed decline” of the US is nudged by the uber-powerful opaque agency located on the Virginia side of the Potomac with decades of practice nudging societal shifts. In this context, the current rare earths vs. tariffs play appears to be theater designed to support the contrived delusion that Trump will prevail in making America great again, while China continues its inexorable rise and the US continues its Stage IV Terminal decline.
Is that you, Xhi?
Nonsense.
I went through a cancer event in the last three years.
You can dang well bet I did my research as well as contacted professionals in the field. There is expertise. The medical science is current. The full range of options are available.
There is definitely a tiered medical/healthcare system in the US – the richest, as in most consumer categories, receive the best. The problem is co-opting of priorities by pharmaceutical companies and the baleful corruption of healthcare economics by government interference. Healthcare in our country is becoming industrialized – one can see that all over the place in FL The expertise/quality practitioners are there. It’s the completely corrupted economics that are undermining the whole superstructure.
As an important (imo) new addition to the cancer(s) fight, Ivermectin has entered as a powerful antidote. “Experts” will likely fight this, as they did during Covid.
When the technology gets cheap and reliable enough, it should become cheaper to process REMs domestically with a robotic plant than with humans on the other side of the planet. We’ll surely get there within a decade.
I’m guessing that Xi got steamrolled by his hot-head PRC generals who want to show they can dominate the world.
Xi, like Trump, has the ability to retain more than one though at a time while the generals are all one-roaders with tunnel vision.
Oops!
China tapping us along, as usual.
Bluff called. We shall see what happens next.
all will slow walk and just wait til he’s outa office.
Always the gentleman. Donald Trump demonstrates to the world population that a leader can be strong, wise, fallible, humorous, resilient in the face of adversity and gracious to his frienemies.
Xi, Putin, and all of the EU wanna-be, self-important; V. Z. the soon-to-be a Ukrainian footnote, and the entire Middle East billionaires, stand far behind Mr. Trump on the world stage. Actually, they are behind their respective iron curtains of suppression looking wistfully at the undeniable supremacy of the man standing in front who rules by the tenets of individual freedom.
Of them all, only Trump knows he is going to die. They think they are going to live forever. As the one Christian leader of substance, Trump is going to live forever and they are all going to die.
Makes ya proud to be a citizen of the United States of America [that country north of the Gulf of America]. God willing, President Trump will continue to pour common sense onto the dumpster fires of liberalism.
