Amid all of this derision and division, a few people have asked for perspective. So here it is – my review in brutally drilled down simplicity.
Back in ’23/’24, the plan of Billionaire Larry Ellison and Elon Musk (w/collaboration, ie. K Griffin, R Bigelow etc.), was to divide the MAGA base through the promotion of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The Alligator Emoji base (evangelical conservatives) was the wedge.
They failed.
MAGA remained cohesive behind Donald J Trump. Ron DeSantis eventually quit the race, Ellison and Musk changed camps, Silicon Valley came along, and the rest is 2024 electoral history.
The point to remember is the key strategy was to divide the MAGA base.
Fast forward to 2025. Larry Ellison, David Ellison, Bill Ackman, Elon Musk, Rupert Murdoch, et al, are looking toward the political future and reverting back to their original objective – divide the MAGA base.
The wedge is the same, only the subject matter of emotional emphasis is Israel.
Look at the names. The wedge divide is identical.
In essence, MAGA is being played by billionaire games with the intent to politically divide in advance of the 2026 midterms. It also appears to be working swimmingly.
I’m pretty sure President Trump knew exactly what Ellison and crew were all about in 2024.

When I say “God’s chosen people” I mean that God chose the Jews to be the people through whom Jesus Christ was brought into the world.
God made a covenant with Abraham to create the Jewish race. King David was descended from Abraham, and Mary was descended from King David through his son Nathan. Mary was the virgin mother of Jesus through the work of the Holy Spirit.
As Lords Freeman stated above, there are many Jewish Christians who are saved through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. There are other Jews who do not believe that Jesus was the promised Messiah.
God will decide how to “separate the wheat from the chaff” according to His own plan.
If you study Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 26-32, the Jews were promised blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience, with increasing levels of punishment. They were told repeatedly they would violate the Sinaitic covenant, and God would punish them until they repented. Jesus was supposed to receive the crown being held in the Temple for Him (Zechariah 6). Hosea is entirely about God’s relationship to Israel, and warns in 5:15 “I will return to my place Till they acknowledge their offense and seek My face. In their affliction, they will seek Me earnestly.” Only Jesus, the Messiah, has been here and returned to His place, to come back. Jeremiah 30 is clearly not speaking of the church, and is still future.
There are several covenants in the Old Testament.
If you do not have a good understanding of the Torah, you cannot understand large parts of the New Testament. Part of the Law in Leviticus relates to the position of the High Priest, which Jesus fulfilled, and especially Yom Kippur /Feast of Atonement. Yom Kippur was the only sacrifice for intentional sin, performed by the High Priest and requiring the Mercy Seat.
Daniel was aware of this, and focused on the desolation of the sanctuary; God sent Daniel to tell him when that desolation would be lifted. “The Coming Prince” by Sir Robert Anderson demonstrates the first part of that calculation to the exact day, and Jerome discusses Julius Africanus’ use of the same calculation set (off slightly, because Julius used only the Julian calendar and failed to account for the switch from the prior Babylonian calendar). Augustine recommends Jerome on this topic.
The Mercy Seat and Ark were removed during the reign of Manasseh, never reappeared, and were never in the Second Temple. Yom Kippur’s offering could not be, and was not required to be, offered for nearly 700 years before Jesus was born. Paul references this, because his readers would know it.
The punishments in Leviticus 26 included, on an increasing level of severity, crop failure, famine, losing to enemies, illness, wild animal attacks, and then servitude under other governments, desolation of the tabernacle/sanctuary, and desolation of Jerusalem. The punishments were to be seven times worse for each additional level of failure, and if you go verse by verse the math actually demonstrates it was meant literally. When they repented, the punishments were eased.
When the New Testament writers refer to “latter days”, they are referring to the last of the levels of punishments specified.
When Jesus ascended, He left a promise of the Holy Spirit, who arrived on Shavout. The Holy Spirit, the Restrainer, did not indwell believers before that. Only His church is indwelled by the Spirit.

Jesus Christ has told us that he came to make a new Covenant. He died for us and was resurrected. His New Covenant included all those who believed in him, Jews and Gentiles alike. These people became his new chosen people. His church.
He fulfilled the original Covenant. He ended the need to worship God in the Temple. We could now pray to God directly. He ended the sacrificial system. Because of Him, we no longer kill lambs on the altar. And so on.
I am a cradle Catholic who attends Mass and also worships in an evangelical church. I have attended bible study groups for many years in both the Catholic Church and an evangelical church. I have also worked for 20 years in a Presbyterian Church. It seems to me that there was little disagreement among these religions as all are bible-based and everywhere I went everyone strove to read the bible and base their understanding thereon.
I am aware that some people here have the idea that only Jews are the chosen people. I suppose they have gotten that idea from their pastors who may have misunderstood the biblical text. If they thought this through, it wouldn’t make much sense. It renders the salvation of us by Jesus Christ unnecessary because all you have to be is born Jewish to be “chosen”.

In Acts 21, Paul is returning to the temple in Jerusalem with believing Jews who were fulfilling Nazarite vows. Numbers 6 details how that vow was to be fulfilled. Gentiles in the church were not required to follow the feasts that were mandated for the Jews in Leviticus 23 [“it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations”]. The Jewish believers who followed Leviticus and celebrated the Resurrection in conjunction with Passover, referred to later as Quartodecimans, were subsequently excommunicated from the church.
Yom Kippur, the Atonement sacrifice for intentional sin, could not be offered without the Mercy Seat, and had to be offered by the High Priest. Jesus fulfilled the requirements of the Law to become the final High Priest, and fulfilled the hereditary requirements to be the final Jewish king.

Restorationism of the tribes of Israel was pushed by Isaac Newton in the 17th century – it was one of his life’s work surprisingly. There’s only one prior mention in 1601 of Zionism by some philosopher I forget who. But it’s been around for a while. Newton thought the trinity was heresy but believed in Jesus and inspired deism for the founding fathers.

Apostolic Christianity describes the descendants of Abraham as those in covenant with God. Since Christ established a new covenant, that would be those who believe in Him, not the physical descendants of Abraham. Your notion does not appear in Christian understanding until 1800+ years after Christ resurrected from the dead. Literally no Christians in hisotry believed in your interpretation. No Catholics, no Orthodox, No Coptics, and none of the original Reformers. Your understanding is a man-made doctrine in direct conflict with all historical Christian theology.

Hi The Lords Freeman. Again, you make my point by suggesting an interpretation of Romans 11 that no orthodox Christian would ever imply. Hence, the prescription by Peter to not interpret scripture on your own authority.
The classic interpretation of Romans 11 is as follows: Although Israel has been unfaithful to the prophetic message of the gospel, God remains faithful to Israel. Proof of God’s fidelity lies in the existence of Jewish Christians like Paul himself and all the first Christians, all Jewish converts to Christ. The unbelieving Jews, says Paul, have been blinded by the Christian teaching concerning the Messiah and have rejected it.
This unbelief of the Jews in Christ as Messiah has paved the way for the preaching of the gospel to the Gentiles and for their easier acceptance of it outside the context of Jewish culture.
Through his mission to the Gentiles Paul also hopes to fill his fellow Jews with jealousy. Hence he hastens to fill the entire Mediterranean world with the gospel, thus converting all gentiles and jews alike.
Paul expresses conviction that once all the Gentile nations have heard the gospel, Israel as a whole is expected to embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ that they once rejected as Truth.
This of course has not happened yet. Israel remains obstinately defiant of the Truth of Jesus Christ. The Jews preserved, therefore, are the converts to Christianity and any remnant preserved by God’s grace. That does not meqn covenant with Israel or all Christ-rejecting Jews exists.
Your interpretation would mean God contradicts himself, and the Son contradicts the Father, and Paul uses scripture to contradict Christ, all of which are impossible.

The New Covenant is the grace of God allowing the indwelling of the Holy Spirit without repentance in His church, which was not known previously (which is why Paul, trained under Gamaliel, was so focused upon it). Romans 4 discusses the expansion of God’s grace to those faithful who were not direct descendants of Abraham. Nothing changed for the unbelieving Jews who remained under the Sinaitic covenant (see Leviticus 26).
I agree self-interpretation of scripture leads to error, including the decision to consider parts of it irrelevant or allegorical:

I would suggest reading the Ante-Nicene Fathers to see what was actually taught. You will be surprised, because many in addition to Ireneaus agree with Articman.
Hi Flora. I must say, misinterpreting St. Irenaeus to bolster dispensationalist theology is not something I’ve seen attempted before. What Irenaeus actually taught regarding Jews, covenantal theology, and Christ is as follows:
Saint Irenaeus did not believe that Jews, as a people, remained in covenant with God after the coming of Christ in the sense of being the exclusive or primary recipients of the new covenant. He taught that the covenant was fulfilled and extended through Christ, opening salvation to all who believe, including Gentiles, not just Jews.
Irenaeus emphasized that Christ came for all who would believe, both those who lived before Him and those who lived after, and that the promises made to Abraham were fulfilled in Christ, benefiting all who share Abraham’s faith, not just the biological descendants.
St. Irenaeus argued that the Old Testament prophets and righteous men foresaw Christ’s coming and desired to see Him, and that their faith was a prefiguration of the faith of Christians. The new covenant, established through Christ’s sacrifice, was not a rejection of the old but its fulfillment and completion, with the Church becoming the new people of God.
While St. Irenaeus acknowledged the historical significance of the Jewish people and their role in God’s plan, he maintained that the true heirs of the covenant were those who believed in Christ, regardless of ethnic origin, and Jews who predated Christ’s coming, and remained faithful. I am unaware of any teaching that states that Jews, as a people, were exclusive or primary recipients of the new covenant. He taught the same as Paul did concerning the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Salvation through faith in Jesus’ prophecy-fulfilling life, death, and resurrection was made available to all freely, and the requirement to become a proselyte was removed for Gentiles.
The Old Testament contains more than one covenant. Not all have been completed. Sarah received the best reward, Hagar a lesser, and Keturah received nothing.
The prophets foresaw Jesus return to reign on earth. He will reign on the throne of David as the Jewish king.

Chapter 36 3. In a plutocracy; wealthy individuals, corporations, and their associations hold significant power overshadowing the needs of the general population. No form of government, including republics and their respective political parties, are immune to plutocratic control (as poor U.S. citizens on Medicaid who become ill and lose their job are going to find out starting in 2027, thanks to the “big beautiful bill).”
Elon Musk’s Grok suggests reforming plutocracy through institutional and political reforms; economic reforms; societal and cultural strategies. I agree with the three topic headings but would add a fourth: citizen education.
Most U.S. citizens correspond with the definition of an ignoramus in overall knowledge test scoring. It’s so bad that the Institute for Citizens & Scholars found in 2018 that only about 1 in 3 U.S. citizens can even pass a multiple choice test consisting of items taken from the U.S. Citizenship Test (which has a passing score of only 60). Only 13 percent of them knew the U.S. Constitution was ratified.
They’re so ignorant that they don’t even how ignorant they are as surveys such as the 2018 Geisinger Health System survey demonstrates with a result showing that 65% of them believe they are intellectually advanced.
Clearly, education organs such as the public education system and mainstream media have failed them dismally in this respect. But they have also failed themselves by not caring enough to educate themselves to the point that instead of falsely believing they understand things as they are, while they do not in reality, actually do understand things as they are.
That said, while the three topical headings for plutocratic reform are fine (though a fourth “citizen education” is most important and certainly needs to be added); many of the specific items listed in the various AI engines (including Grok) would actually make things worse.
But it’s not a “wicked problem,” as defined by Horst Rittel. It’s just that wicked people perpetuate the problem while the general voting population that has the power to rapidly fix it (if they had a correct understanding and the will to engage their political system for a correct solution) continue to live in ignorance.
