Grand Blanc law enforcement has identified the suspect in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church shooting and fire as a 40-year-old man from Burton, Michigan.
The local police said a 40-year-old male ran his truck into the church, then exited his vehicle and opened fire with an assault rifle inside a church where hundreds of people were attending services. The suspect then set fire to the church.
At least one person is confirmed dead, but more victims are expected as the search continues through the burned-out building. Two police officers initially responded and engaged the gunman preventing more casualties. The gunman is dead.
The FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), local and state law enforcement responded.

Exactly why I conceal carry to church, did so this morning. My church also has two police officers on duty but they’re outside more for traffic control. I remember as a youngster our Catholic churches were open 24-7. Doors were unlocked and the place was unattended. When she couldn’t sleep, my grandmother would walk the couple of blocks to church in the middle of the night to light candles.

I listened to this conversation with E.M. Burlingame the other night. The entire conversation is worth a listen but the pertinant part in regards to this tragedy starts at around 24:00. For those who don’t have the time to listen, Burlingame divides the oligarchs into the “responsibles” and the “resentfuls”. He suggests that the reason for the assassination of Charlie Kirk and all these attacks on Christian schools and churches is so the “resentfuls” can herd young men into a twisted version of radical Christian nationalism in order to set them loose on the Islamic world, sending them off to fight a “crusade” in foreign lands while leaving this land undefended.
