A Linux distro running OnlyOffice is a viable replacement for Windows 10 + MS Office when Windows 10 support expires in a couple weeks. Your Windows 10 won’t stop running, just no updates unless you get the subscription.

I went to UBUNTU Linux a year ago and it has been an easy transition.
The open office included is an easy replacement for MS Office, with much the same interoperability. It will read MS Office documents, saving in its own format and offering the ability to save in MS office formats.
Best Idea yet! I’ve been saying that Microsoft should be broken up for years. We have not enforced our anti trust laws for ever. These companies have been allowed to get so large and have so much money it is destroying our country. They are able to buy everything.
I was a Microsoft person since computers came out but switched to Apple in my 70’s without to much trouble. If I can do it you can do it.
And replace Gates’ “vulnerable/Buggy kernel” Windows OS with Novell NetWare,… a far more stable OS. US Navy Subs ran their CPUs on Novell, for security reasons, among others.
Novell 6.5 was my intro into that system. I never ran into anyone running that except servers. But I’ve been out of that loop for the past 20 years.

Moving away from MS would be a major operation, but still: there are several very easy to use linux distros out there. They don’t require much memory or storage, and they’re more secure than Windows.
I’ve been on Linux Mint for years, on a 14 year old PC that had Windows 7, an OS I liked. I’ll never buy another Windows PC. I’m happy to be outside the spyware commune that is modern Windows. Sure, not everything runs on Linux. But I find that I don’t really need that stuff anyway . . .

The problem there is that many Linux developers are leftists in a Star Trek / Anarchist sort of way, and the projects are international. Any given piece of software can have contributors from Iran etc … A lot of Chinese ex-pats in Singapore working open source.
There is actually a bit of a schism forming in the Linux/FOSS/OpenSource ecosystem. Developers that are pro Ukraine, Antifa, LGBTQ, Palestine are clashing with those that are not, or just want to code and leave their politics in the parking lot.
It should be glaringly obvious to anyone with a functioning brain, that there is overwhelming evidence, over the past 30 years, that the negative aspects of the digital revolution far outweigh the positives.

You know…. back in the day…. when companies started getting “too big to fail” the government would intervene and break up the large conglomerates to champion competition. Ma Bell and the Baby Bells of the early 70’s, for example. AT&T at the time had grown too massive and thus the break up into babies.
Now… after 50 years, we see how vast and powerful AT&T has become – with the reacquisitions of the babies and merging into the fold. A current beast for the proverbial “hydra god of war”. We had a peculiar interaction at my former employer with AT&T where notably our small 4 story office building had a large number of immigration attorneys, independent court reporting, and social services “sign up” agencies and then our internet fiber optics started acted strangely. I had called AT&T technical services and their service department claimed there was “no one on site” and yet there they were – in an AT&T marked utility vehicle making “repairs” to our services. The technician came into my office and sat there for over two hours… doing nothing just sitting in my office chair while I uncomfortably dealt with him… regaling how AT&T had become the “Death Star” in a mock of their corporate logo. That episode was one of the first cringy things that began to evolve at our small office building as the Christians were driven out of the space and the illegals, lawless, and corrupt were shepherded in.
