Former CDC Director Susan Monarez appeared on Capitol Hill today to decry the horrible Trump and lay testimony against HHS Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr, for defying the historic indulgences of the Big Pharma lobby.
Senator Markwayne Mullin had a few questions about Ms Monarez and her agenda. WATCH and tell me what you think.

I heard grumbling and talk of her agenda before she was confirmed and wondered why RFK Jr. didn’t raise questions to prevent her installation in the first place.
This reminds me of the testimony of the woman who tried to convince us that Justice Kavenah (sp) committed horrible acts. Very selective memory from both women.
It must have really surprised her that the meeting was recorded. I believe it could be she insisted that HHS Robert Kennedy Jr. said he did not trust her because she has already said under oath somewhere along the way that he did.
I will not be surprised that given Senator Mullen evidently has facts and proof of her untruths, there will be a recommendation to the Justice Department for investigation.

I have known people like Dr. Monarez. They are simply unable to tell the truth. They live in a world of swirling grayness, afraid to take a stand on very simple things.
Bill Clinton is like that, slippery. There is an expression for that, Clintonisms, Clintonian speech.
Example: Hillary calls Bill and asks, ‘where are you”? Bill in the oval office with a young woman replies, “I’m in the office getting some things done and will be home in about an hour”. Half truth designed to sound authentic but really a bald faced lie. Some people have been doing that all or most of their lives and are really good at it. She was fired and she doesn’t remember what she did next. She can’t recall how soon after she was fired that she called her attorney. She couldn’t answer whether or not she called her attorney before she was fired. She wouldn’t name her attorney. I can’t remember which operative I read was representing her. I think it was Andrew Wiseman. She was clearly lying. Mark’s bluff (?) frightened her.

First. Wth was the purpose of this?
Second, it’s absolutely no one’s business — and no, Markwayne Mullin cannot “find out” — when this person or ANY person consults with a lawyer. That’s what she should have said.
Third, what’s the point of asking when she removed political appointees she didn’t want to work with.
Fourth, if Mullin has the text of some conversation and wants the exact words (?!?) why didn’t he just read them, instead of lamely trying to get a gotcha to slam her as untrustworthy.

It seems to me that Mullin believes that she planned to get fired and file a lawsuit. His questions about whether or not she spoke to or called her attorney on this matter before or after she was fired, as well as his claim that she told secretary Kennedy to fire her, indicate this belief to me.
While questioning her about removing political appointees when she first assumed her position, Mullin said something about her locking people out of the floor her office is on. I remember secretary Kennedy saying this in his recent senate testimony, but of course he could barely get a word in. He said something about her locking people out of the office.
Mullins plan seemed to be to catch her off guard and let her lie on the record.

If she retained counsel prior to the firing, or if she was shopping counsel prior to that date, it demonstrates various lies with respect to her motivation, positioning, etc.
You have a hard time with getting her on the record.
The lawyer/client privilege attaches to communication with your lawyer, verbal or written. The date you first contacted a lawyer is not privileged. If a plaintiff in a fender bender case comes into court with a huge claim of physical disability that is 95% Chiro and PT, that plaintiff is going to be asked when he first contacted a lawyer. I’ve asked the question at depositions and it was answered. I’ve seen it asked in court, with objections overruled. The point being, “After this accident, who did you see first, your doctor or your lawyer?” l don’t know anything about this particular case but it sounds like this individual was appointed under the Trump administration and accepted the job, but then went in to start work as part of the “Resistance,” which is likely why she was fired. If she consulted a lawyer after her appointment and before she started work it is relevant to her state of mind as to what was going to happen in response to her actions as the Resistance, ie, that she anticipated push back from Kennedy and was preparing for it.

As someone else pointed out, she could have asked him to play his recording if she is so sure of what she said and she is being truthful. Instead she seemed pretty nervous. It was not a lame slam to call her untrustworthy. They’re planning on using her to go after President Trump. Let’s see who her attorney is and hear from Secretary Kennedy on this.

Mullin is a plumber and a legislator. He, and all the rest of the Congressers had no business interrogating her given that there’s a pending case that the DOJ will be defending. All they are doing is making a mess and presuming to micromanage RFKJr.’s management of his department. .
You don’t think that the some of the republican congress members previously talked about it with Kennedy?
The purpose? It’s pretty standard practice in cross examination to destroy a witness’s credibility especially that of so called EXPERTS. I believe he was successful to that end with this witness.
Your second and third questions are in no way outside the bounds of reasonable questions to ask.
Lastly, planting a seed in a witness’s mind that the actual truth might be known through another witness, an audio or video recording, and other forms of evidence potentially trips them up to lie about their lying. All with the intent to destroy their credibility.
I have no issue with his cross examination of the witness.
She is a typical sleazy, nasty bit of work well practiced in the bureaucratic slippery art of lying. I do not understand why he did share the answers to the questions proving to all she was lying. If one had a good grasp of what happened during the meeting and believed in their own integrity then wouldn’t one ask for the recording to be played right there and then?
Without knowing the context, it was wasted testimony time. He didn’t prove her dishonest, and didn’t establish anything. A good kubuki theatre performance. Reminds me of Trey the Rooster, and Jim Jordan. All theatre and no actionable fruit.

She displayed (like many in DC, frankly on both sides) a lack of seriousness. Governing is not a game but too many people in DC think it is nothing more. Their decisions and actions affect real lives and they seem disconnected from or even dismissive of that reality. That is one of the President’s greatest strengths is his ability to understand and consider the real effects on ordinary Americans that his decisions and actions have. It’s really not that hard if you are there for the right reasons.

Markwayne Mullins’ line of questioning and comments make more sense in the context of Bernie Sanders’ objection at the start of the hearing before the rounds of questioning began.
Senator Cassidy (chairman) wanted to swear in the witnesses. Bernie (ranking member) objected, saying that RFK Jr did not testify under oath during his most recent appearance before that committee (this possibly foreshadowing a Kavanaughesque he said / she said spectacle). Susan Collins made a motion to swear in the witnesses. Bernie objected. Cassidy seemed a bit surprised but relented and said that lying to Congress is against the law.
Not too long into the hearing, Rand Paul accused Monarez of wording her replies in a dishonest manner.
I haven’t even made it to the midpoint of the hearing. If this event was to discredit RFK Jr and protect the golden calf childhood vaccine schedule, Rand Paul and Markwayne Mullins seem to have brought Susan Monarez’s credibility into a bad light.
Christine Blasey Ford continued her academic career. Susan Monarez doesn’t have that. Let’s see if Pharma gives her a sweet place to land.

What we watched is easily summarized.
This woman is a political appointee. Therefore she could be fired for any cause or no cause at all. YET, she immediately (timeline Markwayne is on about) ran to her lawyers (possibly emboldened by the very many ‘stays’ placed on the Trump admin by activists in black robes).
Where she realised she got caught red handed is the fact that upon being appointed, she IMMEDIATELY (there’s that timeline again) fired or removed political appointees (Trump appointees) who would have worked for her.
It’s the glaring hypocrisy that Markwayne is highlighting and the wretched bint is desperately trying to avoid.

It would appear that the Senator is laying the groundwork to file contempt charges for Monarez lying to Congress. He is giving her every conceivable attempt to state her case in answering the questions. He is showing that she is evading the answers and he is trying to lay the groundwork for contempt. It would also appear that he is laying groundwork to show that her lawsuit is bogus. If this is true, we need more like him.
Susan Monarez puts a face to the reason the CDC, the FDA, (“you are not a horse…”) and the AMA lost the trust of half the American people, (the half that was paying attention), during the last five years. She is, as Markwayne Mullin repeatedly implies and/or asserts, a liar…which, until recently, was a requirement to be appointed to high office in these pharmaceuticallly-tainted institutions charged with protecting the public health!
I found it telling that Doctor Monarez did not object on any of the several occasions that Mullins impugned her character by calling her a liar…presumably because the Senator pre-emptied any objection she might raise by reminding her that the things she was lying about were recorded…and he had the recording!
