Hi Teagan, good choice. Women friends who chased the ladder of success changed. They became aggressive, steely-eyed, verging on cold-hearted. I had some sympathy, actually, as it was a battle of survival.
Back in the 80’s (oh so very young) a friend and I joined an on-call temporary work force to stuff newspapers (ads etc) right off the press. During break we were surrounded in our car by males who were protecting what they thought was their territorial right to that work – no women allowed. Rocks thrown, jeers. We were too young to do anything but flee.
It’s just an illustration of the dynamic that was pervasive in all areas of employment back then, especially and including the higher levels. I’m not talking about just being willing to compete in the same way as men compete, but the added stigma of being a woman made things triple tough.

Women that I knew growing up in rural Iowa worked alongside the men in almost everything – harvesting potatoes, shucking corn, bale hay, milking cows, ad infinitum. Not to mention working long hot hours on the vegetable garden, canning produce, cooking from scratch, constantly working. And I mean WORKING. Of course, rural children also had to pitch in so they had the benefit of being around one parent or the other routinely.
The fact that “pay” (contributing to the survival of the family) nowadays is usually at a job hardly represents anything except a change in general overall lifestyle – mostly urban. Of course ideally a mother would be able to focus on family and raising children but that left the barn a long time ago due to economics unless the father is a very good provider.
Historically women always worked, always contributed to the family economic well being, right alongside the men. It just looked different in the past. Well, unless you were royalty or nobility (very upper class). Removing women from “working” is actually trying to duplicate a society that historically never existed except for the very privileged.
Back in the late 80’s, there were more women in med school and in residency programs…we had a female resident (who had been an RN) for one patient and someone on the unit commented, ‘oh good, someone we can relate to’…..they found out otherwise…this doctor was much harder to get along with…still trying to prove she was as good as the men (she was and didn’t need to prove it) but was insecure and manifest it in her hostile approach towards the nurses.

I’ve said for years (as a woman myself) I fully understand why women were not allowed to vote (or be on juries), and that the 19th was a huge mistake. And here we are today.
This. Thankfully there is a growing awareness in young men today of exactly what you stated. I’ve noticed a shift more toward the attitude of repealing the 19th. This is not meant to be a slight toward women, but logic and reason need to come back into politics and management for some real solutions going forward.

This war is not just Putin’s war. It is Russia’s war. Putin has the back of possibly 75% to 80% of the Russian population, a highly nationalistic citizenry which historically has been willing to suffer enormous wartime casualties if it believes mother Russia is being seriously threatened.
In his Zerohedge article, Tyler Durden summarizes Russia’s terms for peace and accurately describes Russia’s approach to conducting the war. As it concerns Russia’s military strategy, other military analysts similarly believe that Russia’s plan is to run a war of attrition in which NATO and its Ukraine proxy consume more men and material at a faster rate than Russia does.
A point has not yet been reached where Russia’s armed forces are strong enough, and the NATO/Ukraine forces are weak enough, to allow the Russians to break out of their current front lines in a blitzkrieg-style attack and to use maneuver warfare tactics to quickly defeat their NATO/Ukraine adversary.
However, the Russians are slowly getting there. At some point within the next three years, possibly earlier, a blitzkrieg-style breakout is likely to occur.
The larger point to be made here is that as long as a highly nationalistic Russian citizenry is willing to accept Russian casualties at their current levels, Russia will not accept anything less than its current terms for peace, and the war will continue until Russia achieves a clear military victory over its NATO/Ukraine adversary.

I watched some TV news, including Fox and saw and heard the one sided coverage of the war. Russia drones Kiev. Never do we hear about the droning of Russian assets by Ukrainians. iMO the goal of the media appears to be to blame President Trump for not ending the war on Ukrainian terms. It takes both sides to tango. I believe the war will continue.
