A mass shooting event in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Annunciation Catholic School. The shooting started after the school mass began. This event is my nightmare come true: as a Catholic teacher in high schools and a grade school, as lunacy grew in America with the number of school shootings: how easy it would be to march into a school Mass and spray the kids with machine gun fire.
No principal or pastor ever found my concerns worth their while, claiming that the doors could not be locked: “A Catholic Church must be open to all!” said one priest.
So I always guarded the back entrance. At the grade school where I taught, a man came into a side entrance and rushed up an aisle toward the Third Graders, pulled out a child, and started up the aisle toward where I stood.
Not one of my colleagues did a thing as he gave the kid the bum’s rush!
“Oh, yeah, I saw that. I wondered what he was doing!” said one of my clueless 20-something colleagues later (a man).
I stopped the man with the child and asked what he was doing. He said that he was the child’s father and had to get him to an appointment. I said:
“No, you need to verify everything first with the Main Office.”
I am 6′ 3″ and in good shape (165 pounds) and despite being in my 60’s at the time could easily outdo the blubbery 30-something.
I was thinking of a possible custody dispute and that this could easily have a been a kidnapping of sorts.
