At 7:00am this morning, the FBI carried out a raid on the home of former Trump National Security Advisor, John Bolton. According to most reports, the FBI search is related to the removal of classified documents by Bolton.
WASHINGTON – The FBI on Friday searched the Maryland home of former Trump national security adviser John Bolton as part of an investigation into his handling of classified records, people familiar with the matter said.
A spokeswoman for Bolton, a top critic of President Trump in recent years, declined to comment. He clashed with the president over policies toward Iran and North Korea during his 18-month tenure in Trump’s first term.
A Federal Bureau of Investigation spokesman didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
“NO ONE is above the law,” Director Kash Patel said on X around the time of the search.
The Justice Department during Trump’s first term sued Bolton and launched a criminal investigation into whether he unlawfully disclosed classified information in his memoir, which offered a scathing assessment of Trump’s presidency. Biden officials dropped the lawsuit and the grand jury probe in 2021, which Bolton cited as an example of Trump inappropriately using the Justice Department to protect his personal interests.
Friday’s search stems from an investigation into whether Bolton illegally possessed or shared classified material, one person familiar with it said. (more)

I agree with your sentiments. But my first reaction was “HAS IT COME TO THIS”? I guess it has to, given who we are fighting, but I had hoped that it would not. I keep reminding myself that we don’t live in an America anymore where public officials do the right thing, if we ever did. I hope everything is completely predicated as the FBI agents participating in this will be feeling like some of the agents who felt it was wrong to raid Mar a lago or Scott Ritter’s home. So, no cheering for me, just a sadness. (sigh)

If it was truly warranted I would prefer if they just did it without being so slick about it, ie. “No one’s above the law!” and alerting Fox.

This doesn’t sound like it was a “raid” at all, at least not in the same way that countless Conservatives have had done to them. It was the FBI serving a search warrant. Nothing in any of the news that I’ve seen suggests there were armored vehicles, a SWAT team, automatic weapons being brandished, if they even had any. It was done at 7 a.m., not in the dark before anyone was awake. I read that they broke through the front door, but that might have just been standard protocol when no one was immediately coming to the door.
As welcome as this is, I don’t see anything about it to suggest a coming wave of actual small-hours raids against any of the many well-deserving Democrat perps.
I always wondered why in the world Trump brought Bolton into the WH in his first term. Bolton is the epitome of everything Trump campaigned against. Some slimy “advisor” likely pushed it and Trump trusted their judgement? Bolton did exactly what most expected him to do with that access and this is smear Trump and leak.

Brann’s 77-page decision detailed that Habba’s initial 120-day interim appointment expired in July 2025, and subsequent maneuvers by the Trump administration—such as withdrawing her nomination, allowing federal judges to appoint her deputy as successor, and then having Attorney General Pam Bondi fire that successor and reappoint Habba in a different capacity—were improper and failed to comply with federal law.
Although the judge ruled that Habba’s appointment was unlawful and void, he stayed the order pending appeal, allowing her to remain in the role temporarily.
The Justice Department, through Bondi, announced plans to appeal, calling the decision an “activist judicial attack”.
Habba criticized the ruling, asserting she was the president’s chosen nominee and accusing Senate Democrats and “rogue judges” of political obstruction.”

Knowing who they are, and taking it HONESTLY to a Court with hard evidence are 2 different things.
They’ve only had access to the buried and hidden files, and the ability to find, persuade, and interview potential whistleblowers for about 5 months (starting AFTER key Cabinet nominations had completed). It takes TIME to develop and build the strong cases that will be required to take down the big fish.
We are all beyond frustrated. But I’m rather liking many of those working the problem.
