In reference to enforcement action against employers hiring illegals:
Trump could simply announce strict enforcement will commence against employers hiring illegals and H1B abuse within sixty or ninety days. Publicize it in full force through the appropriate agencies; say prison time for CEOs is on the table. The mere announcement would cause employers to swiftly remove illegals and questionable H1Bs while at the same time giving them breathing room to replace them with legal workers.
There is no jurisdiction in the courts to sue an announcement with no underlying EO or law. If the mere threat works, and a huge number of illegals are replaced with legal workers, Trump can claim victory and put out a much less harsh official action than what was threatened.

That is already somewhat available in another already existing, since the 1950s I think, but MUCH less powerful US Code I’ve previously linked to. Why less powerful? Because of its specifics which, admittedly, could be changed like the one I suggested, but the changes required would be more extensive. The US Code I suggested to be changed could be totally fixed by just changing a few words.

About 50% of construction workers are illegals and in the southwest I’ll bet it’s higher still. And that is just one employment category.
I personally know of a USAF SCIF (for beyond Top Secret meetings and activities) whose construction was halted when it was discovered that half of the contractor’s workers were illegals.

This is how the bureaucrats assault us financially. This is administrative warfare against working class Americans.
The consequences will be the increase of tuition, just like the tuition of colleges far exceeding inflation because of easy money flowing in. People will now go into debt for trade school and it will be years before the student can pay it off. That is, the students will now easily be saddled with debt. And, the student will need to acquire these debts in order to afford the tuition because of these Pell ‘grants’ increasing the cost of tuition.
The third consequences is that trade schools will be offering fluff classes, just like colleges. There are real majors in colleges, but, kids will choose, say, political science, gender history, etc. while accumulating huge debts. And, these fluff majors will not generate the income to pay off these debts and live a normal life.
The trade school will not warn students away from fluff classes. In fact, they will encourage students to take these classes. It means more students, therefore, more money for the trade schools.
These bureaucrats, who pushed this administrative sabotage, need to be fired and this program terminated.
And, after college, you need to pay back your ‘grant’. The name is deceptive as is everything pushed by the marxists, the left.
You know that the left are now destroying the pathway to earn a living with trade school. This is the intent.

In the working world, in the trades, Skill Matters. A piece of paper may get your foot in the door, your lack of real skills will show you the exit.
I just realized something. With the cost of trade school set to explode, not increase, but, rocket, the graduates would want higher wages to offset the cost of school.
Therefore, illegal aliens are now more attractive because they work for much lower wages. Plus, the increased costs for American workers will make the development of AI systems financially justifiable to replace the expensive American workers.
Haven’t we just gone through this.

Pell Grants have been available for trade schools since the program’s establishment in 1965 including trade skills and vocational training.
I can’t explain why the admin is promoting now like it’s something new in the OBBB other than to say it’s an advertisement to encourage more awareness and perhaps OBBB dedicated more resources to that part of the program. Trade schools are unlikely to do anything different than what they are already doing.

I have a meeting within a week with 2 state legislators about expanding skills curriculum in our state’s more than 30 technical colleges/trade schools to meet the demand. Will follow up with local Administrative staff at a few schools.
And, IMO, really needs to start in high schools with shop classes, home ec, and skills mentoring programs.

He explains quite clearly why there is a serious, critical need for trades skills training programs in the 21st century, even more so now.
He recognized the national lack of respect for, and dearth of availability of tradesman work as well as tradesman skills training in America. Accordingly, in 2008 he created and continues to manage – very successfully – Mike Rowe Works. It’s a 501c3 foundation that both advocates for greater recognition of the value of having tradesman skills and working in the trades, and has granted millions of dollars in trade school scholarships across the U.S.

Every competent Project Manager knows transformers are a long lead item (i.e., you order them as early as you can). Standardization is definitely needed. Lead times for transformers have doubled in some cases as demand and price increases have escalated rapidly. The number of transformers which have to be imported is a national security risk IMO. Many politicians are aware of the risk; however, few are taking action. A lack of public awareness equals a lack of political pressure for politicians to act.

Bessie, this is exactly what needs to happen. A private bank won’t give a loan to a bad risk, at least not without a credit worthy co-signer.

If they are indeed Pell Grants they do not get paid back except under specific circumstances such as dropping out before completing degree/program, receiving an outside scholarship to same school, or personal financial situation changes negating the need for financial assistance.
I think the OP’s concern is that the more that government is involved with financing students for trade school, the more expensive it will become for everyone that wants to attend one.

Pell Grants have been around, unchanged since 1972.
The government intrusion that caused tuition to skyrocket was the portion of Obamacare that moved Federal Financial Student Aid Loans from banks giving and servicing loans to the federal government giving and servicing the loans. Once the taxpayer became the backstop for unlimited borrowing, tuition costs exploded along with the advent of worthless degree programs.

On the other hand, that is a pretty negative and dire prediction. Do we know that is true? It bears measuring closely, reassessing. Are pell grants for trade school a new thing? Trade school students tend to be more practical, already working/raising families, less likely to blindly rack up debt.

I might remind readers that FDR ran for a full 4 terms due to the strength of his popularity as a President…our first and ONLY President to do so.

Russia is winning the war, slowly but surely completely destroying Ukraine’s chances of recovering within two generations. The Russian war effort at its current cost and rate of effort is sustainable for years. But it is not sustainable for Ukraine.
So Putin will dictate the terms of the peace because he has won the war and no one is coming to force him off the territory his army has won.
It doesn’t matter if he is a good guy, a bad guy or downright evil. Trump has little leverage unless he is prepared to send hundreds of thousands of troops to directly fight Russia or start a nuclear war. Trump, wisely, isn’t doing either of those things.
Putin isn’t playing games – that should be clear. The peace deal will effectively end up achieving Putin’s key objectives of the war.
Ukraine will lose the four south eastern Oblasts plus Crimea. Ukraine will not host any European, American or NATO peacekeepers, Ukraine will be made neutral and have strict limits on the size and capabilities of its armed forces. The only outstanding major objective left is de-Nazification. I suspect Putin will want Nuremberg style trials for the key Nazis, especially the leadership of the Azov brigades. Putin will want something done with he Azov Nazis.
Russia is already the most heavily sanctioned country in the world, yet its economy is growing faster than just about anywhere in the West. The idiotic US sanctions regime effectively forced Russia into China’s arms. A piece of strategic incompetence on a grand scale. Applying third country sanctions would risk also forcing India into the China – Russia club. This would be a strategic blunder almost as bad as forcing Russia and China to be allies.
They are the unpleasant facts. This is where we are, and Putin ain’t gonna do a sweetheart deal with Trump. Putin is going to achieve his objectives and then quit and there is little we or anyone else can do to stop him.

How can people not see – this is Russia. They are a xenophobic, militant totalitarian tribal nation from its very beginning until this very day.

Here, I have to disagree with the statement that Zelenskyy is a “legitimate president”.
Zelenskyy was once the “elected” president of the Ukraine, but that term ended over a year ago. He has not allowed his people to have another election since that term ended – he’s always quoting the very constitution he himself suspended, as the reason why he can’t have elections during the very martial law he has imposed upon his country. He keeps himself in office through rhetoric and kabuki theater, not through a legitimate vote.
Zelenskyy looks and sounds more like an installed warlord than a properly elected President.
Russia is quite correct to question the legitimacy of Zelenskyy’s presidency and consented authority to sign any kind of treaty on behalf of the Ukrainian peoples.

I’ve talked to a former manager of a Publix. In the business for 40 years (retired 2011). Started as bagger. He said the profit margins are 2-3% per store. He said a Kroger here in west georgia has about $50,000 grass sales a week. 2% of that is $1,000. He said 80% of cost is payroll.
No Kroger could operate on $50k GROSS weekly. I’ve had crappy dollar generals in my district average better than that. However NET profit margins may be 2 -3% per store. But payroll is not 80% of gross profit expense. Kroger is also unionized except for upper management.
When Mariano’s, a Kroger derivative, started charging for “cash back” at the register, I quit shopping there.
50 cents a visit or ‘event’, adds up, 3 x week maybe…78 dollars per year? No thanks.
There are very few “cash back at the register” options that do not charge a fee now. I don’t understand the concept of choosing to pay to get my money, for myself.

Can never find a parking spot at this location. The interior of the store is crowded, messy, uninviting. And yes, it’s in a shady neighborhood, the same neighborhood where two Starbuck’s closed last year for the same reasons- theft and drifters hanging out by the entrance. The entire length of roadway where this store is located is just bad news for pedestrians who would prefer not to be accosted by aggressive panhandlers. Two judges wrote that they felt New York Attorney General Letitia James’ lawsuit against Trump and his companies was justifiable and that she had proven her case but the penalty was too severe.
One wrote that James exceeded her legal authority in bringing the suit, saying that if any of Trump’s lenders felt cheated, they could have sued him themselves, and none did.
One judge wrote that Engoron erred by ruling before the trial began that the attorney general had proved Trump engaged in fraud.
Since the judges could not agree on the legal rationale for overturning the lower court ruling on the fraud, it stands. It is what is called a plurality decision. There is no majority opinion on the issue of fraud, just the penalty.
I expect Trump will appeal the fraud issue to the Court of Appeals. The penalty is out, but the business restrictions are still in place.
So in NY the Supreme Ct is a lower ct when compared to the court of appeals. Makes one wonder how this came to be.
So MSNBC is changing their name to MSNOW.
