No. Alaska was most likely chosen for security reasons, pure and simple. Putin did not have to fly over the airspace of any third parties who might not want him getting to the summit. And Trump flying to Russia for this meeting was likely out of the question for reasons of optics. Elmendorf makes perfect sense from those perspectives.
For security reasons, I’d have avoided the US. Trump is obviously not in complete control of the US government, and powerful parts of it would like nothing more than to see him (and/or Putin) killed.

I work at a resort restaurant in Southern Oregon during tourist season. Which means that the mother of the earthly child is NOT the mother of God. She was the mother of a human child who had the divinity of God inside of him [That is why he shed both water and blood at his crucifixion; He had two types of circulatory systems; one human, one divine]. Russia has a larger population than Ukraine which it can draw upon for replacement soldiers as casualties on both sides mount. The mothers and fathers of the Russian soldiers are open to suffering significant and ongoing casualties as long as they believe that defending the Russian motherland is the true reason for continuing this war.
Russia has a larger military industrial base suitable for the specific technology and tactical needs of the current war than NATO and its Ukraine proxy currently have. That base is steadily expanding. America’s and NATO’s military industrial base has become a bloated bureaucracy filled with tens of thousands of incompetents, an industrial base which cannot adapt itself quickly enough to meet the requirements of a Russia-Ukraine style of warfare.
The last three years have demonstrated that the Russians have successfully adapted to the economic sanctions imposed upon their nation. Adding more sanctions will have little effect on Russia’s ability to wage war, and will likely stimulate a greater resolve among Russia’s people to cope with any and all further economic hardships NATO imposes upon them.
Putin’s problem is that if steps he back from any of his previous demands, he might be quickly replaced by a more aggressive Russian nationalist, one who will not budge an inch in further negotiations and who might begin demanding even more concessions from Trump and from NATO.
Trump’s problem is that if accedes to any of Putin’s demands — even one of those demands — he will be labeled by the Democrats and by his many enemies in the GOP Establishment as an appeaser who is caving into Russian aggression for personal and political gain.
We shouldn’t be expecting too much of substance out of this summit. At least as far as ending the bloodshed in Ukraine is concerned.

My opinion is that Trump will not be working that hard for peace. He wants to complete step two of extracting the US from Ukraine. It won’t be total, but he will get the US, and him specifically, out of the leadership position. Sales to NATO will placate MIC. Other nefarious actors need attending to.
