Take a look at a current territorial control map of Ukraine, you will notice something. The Russians have created a relatively deep buffer zone in from the Black Sea coast. If they take Odessa and then drive the remaining 35 miles or so from there to the Romanian border, Ukraine will become landlocked.

If there is no peace deal, it will be rather difficult to blame a frozen out CIA. People will be left with blaming President Trump or blaming Putin and American Americans will very rightfully not blame President Trump, especially after all his great efforts for peace.
