President Donald Trump is actually doing something almost all presidents have failed to do, reduce the size and scale of the federal government.
The Washington Post is very concerned about the economic datapoints coming from the DC area. Including: “the Trump administration’s overhaul of the federal workforce, including the elimination of thousands of federal jobs, is being acutely felt in a national capital region.”
WaPo – In May, D.C.’s unemployment rate was 5.9 percent — the highest in more than three years. The number of federal workers turning to unemployment insurance is climbing steadily, with claims rising 64 percent between February and June — from 1,064 to 1,747. That surge is starting to show up in the city’s bottom line: In June alone, D.C. paid out more than $2.5 million in federal civilian jobless benefits, a sharp jump from earlier in the spring.
Maryland saw a similar spike, with payments nearly doubling since April. In Virginia’s Fairfax County, unemployment has reached levels not seen since mid-2021.
LAYOFFS – Layoffs tracked through Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notices are rapidly climbing. The federal WARN Act requires large employers to give advance notice before mass layoffs, offering an early signal of job market stress. So far this year, the D.C. region has recorded more WARN-notice layoffs than in any year outside the pandemic, with nearly 10,000 workers cut as of July — more than the total of the last two years combined. While the data mostly reflects private-sector job losses, it underscores how quickly layoffs are accelerating.
SPENDING – Consumer spending in D.C. is also starting to slip. Washingtonians are cutting back on things like dining out, clothing, and beauty products — and they’re doing so more sharply than people in other big cities. In June, spending at full-service restaurants was down 9 percent compared with the prior year, a steeper drop than in places like Atlanta, Boston and Miami. The same pattern shows up in categories like apparel and entertainment, pointing to a local slowdown even as spending elsewhere holds steadier.
TAX BASE – The D.C. Office of Revenue Analysis is forecasting a rare population dip in 2027 — a 0.2 percent decline — along with shrinking tax collections. In June, the city revised its tax revenue outlook for 2026 from one of growth to decline. The city expects only modest growth in 2027, with property and business taxes still lagging.
HOUSING – Predictably, with uncertainty looming, the real estate picture is starting to shift. “We still have a shortage, meaning there is more demand for housing than supply,” Lee said. “And with that, the prices go up.”
But inventory is climbing, a sign that fewer buyers are competing for homes. At the same time, new apartment construction is tapping the brakes — about 8,000 units went up in the first quarter of 2025, well below the usual 12,000 to 16,000 seen in recent quarters. (more)

Hey, my husband and I are retirees living in the DC metropolitan region. Hubby retired from Metro, the DC transit system. We definitely support MAGA, and are THRILLED with all the changes!!!
Yup, I am born raised, and reside in the belly of the beast. This is all true.
Me too. There are too many people here, most from someplace else, and they brought their bad habits with them!
I grew up in Vienna during the 50’s and 60’s.
Worked in DC after college from 1980 until 1994.
I am glad I moved from there. DC is such a snake pit.
Right here in Little India, a/k/a Chantilly, it’s possible the new data centers are sprouting more slowly, but it’s hard to tell.
We’re getting one in Missouri!
The smaller the gov’t, the lesser the tyranny.
Gonna take a lot more cuts to make that perceptible!
The next Progressive in office will go on a hiring boom, just like Biden.
Where are the DOD cuts?
BIGGER rescission bills?
More State layoffs?
Hopefully, there will never be another pRegressive in office ever again.
Yes, sort of like:
“If you don’t like Over-development – Don’t concentrate power.”
We hope!
Less tyranny.
Isn’t that a little like being “less pregnant?
Pregnancy is an absolute.
My opinion is that tyranny, less or more, is the same.
🙂
I had the occasion to be visiting in an upscale neighborhood outside of DC, in the last few weeks. There were dozens of For Sale signs in a single gated community.
My neighbors literally had a moving truck at their house last week, loaded everything in and then took off. They didn’t even put a for sale sign up until after they were gone.
Must be nice to be so well off you don’t need to sell your house before buying another. Especially at these prices.
This is in Loudoun County.
Some people stop making payments, especially when they can get the next mortgage done before delinquencies show up on credit reports.
I think they would have to lie on the application.
Demo-commies are good at that. I always wondered how so many scam the system. Being raised not to lie, cheat or steal leaves moral people, holding the bill for those who do. Financially not spiritually.
This could be tech layoffs, which have been brutal.
What it is, is the liquidation of the Municipal UNITED STATES corporation which was finalized October 2024. They can’t afford to pay for duplicate bureaucracies any more. The only game left in town is the United States of America, Inc, a British Crown corporation.
In DC? Not exactly a tech stronghold.
Just like back about 25 years ago when we kept hearing about how “the dot com bubble had burst”.
The question is to where are all of these parasites are moving? No doubt some Commie, Democrat stronghold.
Let’s hope that’s where they move to. Otherwise conservative strongholds will be destroyed!
Or maybe they moved in with family.
That neighbor may be renting and already has someone lined up.
I do feel bad for people losing their jobs. But working for the government, after Trump was elected, was risky.
I feel bad for EVERYONE who loses their jobs (my husband and I have been through our fair share in the private sector).
What I resent is Federal, State, and Local government bureaucrats who feel entitled – that their jobs are NEVER at risk of being CUT BECAUSE they work for government. This creates an atmosphere of “I’ll get to it ……when I get to it.” If that attitude happens in the private sector, your job is toast.
And I resent that they earn no money to pay their salaries with.
The only true source of their income is our tax dollar and yet they pay some astronomical salaries and absurd benefits.
It will actually be nice to force them to see how the rest of us live for a change.
And they’re freaking unionized. Funded by taxes and union protected. Just idiocy.
Yeah, all government unions have to go!
I know, a union against the Tax Payer. So absurd.
That was a Kennedy mistake (may President Kennedy rest in peace).
That’s the thing I love the most about President Trump, he doesn’t make mistakes.
Trump is human; therefore, he makes mistakes.
I voted for the man 3 times.
I’d vote him back in if he were allowed to go again. That would put in in his mid-80s, I think.
My mother, though a democrat at the time, once told me that the Kennedys were the worst thing that ever happened to this country. Looking back 6 decades later I get it now.
And they retire with *their full salary *! Insane!
Not true…there is a calculation of retirement benefits based on years of service, etc. The most attractive benefit is the health coverage for life (including your spouse).
What is the 2nd largest contributor to the government coffers after income taxes?
Customs and Border Protection, through tariffs and import fees.
So not all government agencies are sucking off the taxpayers. Yes, CBP does get other funding for security and such, but overall they contribute significantly in dollars back to the treasury.
Not many people know this.
Well that attitude is changing
Your right. Private sector employees are at the whim of their employer. Public sector have always had guarantees. There may be a few I feel sorry for but not the majority.
I don’t believe government workers should receive better benefits than the average taxpayer that pays their salary. Meaning:
No retirement in their 50s
No pension
Health insurance that is the same cost and coverage as the average American
No SS annuity payments for feds that retire in their 50s. If the private sector retires before 62 they can’t claim SS.
No saving leave forever and getting a big payout at retirement
the Standard amount of vacation/sick leave the average private sector worker gets
etc
Exactly! The holiday pay is sickening on it’s own!
Which is maybe 2 or 3 days per year for the lucky. Most don’t even get that.
Working for the government became risky under biden, with the unlawful Sept 2021 shot mandates:
Risk of serious crippling injury or death from a genetic manipulation serum already established as gravely harmful and unnecessary by that time.
Risk of wrongful termination for refusing the shots.
Now, risk of being terminated based on the false pretense of “spending reduction”.
I think that more than anything was so telling. I feel awful for people who were compelled to take the vaxx because they were the sole breadwinner and had NO OTHE OPTIONS. Some family members of mine were faced with that and they were given awful alternatives if they didn’t get it.
I read about a fellow who was out of work and the job he was planning on getting demanded he take the covid bioweapon. He didn’t want to take it but felt for his family’s sake, because they might lose their house, he took it and died right in front of his children. Now I’m pretty sure they lost their house and their husband/father is gone too. There are in a worse state than they would have been if he had not taken the shot because he would still be alive. When the stakes are this high life is the most important thing because the other stuff will work out but if you’re dead there is no coming back from that. biden deserve 40 lashes for the bioweapon debacle.
He deserves a hemp necktie. From a very public lamppost.
I want a massive STAFF reduction-with or without a spending reduction. The fewer bureaucrats, the better. I’ve not an iota of sympathy for those who leach off working people while producing nothing but more regulations and misery.
Paper pushers and bean counters.
The agency I work for boasted of a 98% clot shot rate. I took a religious exemption, but was prepared to make them fire me if I didn’t get it. I know several people who didn’t take it. Now all the vaxxed at work are sick all the time it seems. It’s hurting our “customer”.
The current stress is insane. We’ve lost almost half the employees in my department due to taking the DRP and early retirement, and it’s killing us. We are one of the few revenue producing pieces in this agency (sorry to be vague, but I’m careful online, old habits die hard … NOT the Infernal Revenue Service), and the immediate offer to everyone without figuring things out agency wide was a terrible idea. No one where I work should have been allowed to take it, it actually hurts the agency mission. (I am not located in D.C.)
Those who took the DRP were generally our better employees, the ones who have more initiative/work harder, or were close to retirement.
Our workload has more than doubled in the last 5 years due to congressional mandates (without a budget increase), but our staff is almost half of what is was (last I heard we were down approximately 60 people out of 130).
On the positive side, we are finally able to write up people for poor performance and get them fired. And a lot of the upper and middle management left, so we have fewer of the people who do “less” hanging around.
It’s been a complete disaster the way it was all implemented. Ready, fire, aim. Don’t get me wrong, we need to cut government in half at a minimum, just could have had a better execution. If only they’d asked us worker bees who do the work. 🫣
I knew more private sector employees forced to have the jab than govt workers, other than military.
50% is best. Get rid of the dead wood.
90%
unless you are with ICE .. 🙂
Anybody who takes on a job in a pRegressive democrat government must know that the job will definitely be short term.
On the bright side, now they’ve got the time to learn to farm or pick cotton. New skills – Yay!
They have had it too good, for too long. Don’t feel sorry for them.
Agreed.
when their jobs are to screw the American people, I dont feel bad. not one bit. Lose more. Govt needs cut another 50%.
https://www.foxnews.com/us/queen-reid-embattled-virginia-schools-boss-demands-personal-bodyguard-top-lavish-salary-perks
All over the country – we need to clean house. This is a perfect example of waste, fraud, and abuse.
I could see increased security for our Supreme Court Justices, but a School District Superintendent? Bodyguard. Good grief. What an entitled *!&@$
Excellent. But cuts in spending and federal staffing have only amounted to a couple of drops in the bucket so far. Need more cuts. A lot more.
I’d like to see Trump cut spending with pocket rescissions and challenge the constitutionality of the 1974 Impoundment Control Act.
The first rescission bill of $9 billion was supposedly a test.
Why not have the next Rescission bill be BIGGER? $50 Billion?
They should claw back the salaries of the worthless congressmen people who refuse to accept the president the people really chose.
Yes. Start with the idiots from Texas who ran out on their jobs.
Supposedly congress critters who have committee assignments get a bump in salary. I’d like to see their pay docked when they don’t show up for those hearings or leave early. It’s their job to be present at those. Most of these hearings are dog/pony shows, but it is part of their job.
500 billion is more like it! Start with the 3billion on the federal reserve building upgrades!
That was passed by Congress after Nixon wouldn’t spend money appropriated by Congress for what he considered to be boondoggles. They wanted to make sure that no future President interfered with their corrupt…uh, appropriations.
Every job cut in the Federal government, also cuts the poisonous regulations each bureaucrat is able to create or enforce
and the people addicted to spending every dime we make (Congress) is unwilling to CUT anything
We need to see entire agencies shut down.
Dear President Trump: Can you please also cut the CIA, FBI, and Department of Justice by at least 50 percent?
90%
I think he needs the FBI and DOJ right now. Just fire all those with political agendas. When he has America straightened out then he can downsize.
Waiting to downsize would be fatal. Using corrupt FBI and DOJ personnel hold-overs from Obama & Biden, could tank any action he needs to take.
I think Sundance could help PDJT come up with some criteria with which to fire the majority of bad apples in the FBI, CIA, DEA, Secret Service, DOJ, EPA, and many other agencies.
I think we could also come up with many criteria and tests that would be good screens for great employees, even if they are green on the needed skills. A history test, a test in civics. Being able to recite and explain the pledge of allegiance, the Declaration, the Constitution. Demonstrated motivation to grow.
That would be well over 90% of both agencies
As long as it’s not ICE.
“Spending reduction” is a red herring. Federal payroll was only 4% of total budget in the first place, if they fired half it would only be a 2% reduction.
Further confirmed as BS by BBB which continues the same deficit.
So what were the real reasons for DOGE aiming cuts at Federal workers?
Ulterior political targeting. Creating chaos, disruption, dysfunction, and anxiety – all part of the “managed decline” underway. The dysfunction effects especially aimed at DoD civilians, to further weaken the US military.
You say, “Gee, that sounds like the administration is serving masters sinking the US.” This is a rational conclusion.
That 4% has significant influence on all the NGO spending that is the center of the waste, fraud and abuse.
You beat me to it. Agree 💯.
Plugging the spigot of a large chunk of the political graft was a key goal.
2% of 7 T is 140B. 140B here, 100B there, and pretty soon you are talking about real money.
You choose your name well,Dork.
Here’s just a few benefits of staff reductions:
Reduce the regulatory harms each employee can cause
Reduce the contracts written and overseen by employees
Cut benefits and pension costs in addition to pay
Reduce overhead per employee, including administrative staff and office space
Improve efficiency by reducing management layers
Improve communication within smaller teams
Reduce the number of silos that slow communication
Reduce the number of departments, dept heads, dept admin staff
Get rid of public employee union inefficiencies
Get rid of non-workers
That’s just employees. Shuttering buildings and selling them off is big money. When DOGE started doing that I dug into it. One floor of govt employees paid the rent, upkeep and bills to a whole other government sector, the OMB. The OMB owned and maintained these buildings. Washing taxpayer money from one agency to another, inflating jobs, few went to, renting unused office space to justify real estate owned by the taxpayer, lol, to feed the bureaucracy. DC could have housed the homeless for less then what they paid to create waste!
even though it would only be a 2% reduction, it would certainly reduce the number of political activism and “resistance” to the MAGA agenda.
do more with less
Do you think it’s fair to the employees losing their jobs I mean where are all those gender studies colleges graduates going to find fulfillment in life?
Don’t care.
Learn to code.
And fight for there jobs against Indian visa workers!
Not. Our. Problem.
Well, this is certainly a unique comment.
Let’s summarize what you said: The Trump administration is trying to destroy the country and the proof is that they lied about cutting costs — this is true because even half the jobs would save very little, and thus their real purpose was to create chaos.
Are you nuts? Or have you just been drinking heavily for the last several days?
After you pull yourself together, see Sarasotosfan’s reply to you.
Likely he’s a Fed or his spouse or other family members are.
So only staff was being targeted?
Oh, no it was profligate and wasteful spending, which judges weighed into and ended the actual hammer.
Your argument is a bit like like my wife arguing that the $8 coffee drink doesn’t matter since we spend a lot anyway. Nice logic.
DOGE is using a new AI tool to remove 50% of regulations.
This is exactly what the demonic left was screeching about. You don’t really need to cut funding because it’s just a tiny bit. How come they don’t realize all the tiny bits add up to a whole big bit.
I’ll take what I can get, Dork.
Federal employees don’t really do much that is important to the American people. There are so many useless people doing useless work it’s criminal theft.
I first read the unemployment rate as 59% and thought yeah now we’re getting somewhere!
Same here. And now 59% is aspirational.
YES!!! 🤜🤛
Why does Washington DC even have civilian residents? Shouldn’t that land be returned to Virginia and Maryland? It’s obvious WDC cannot govern itself –
Maryland might actually be worse.
VA does not want it. I believe most actual Virginians would like Northern Virginia to be annexed by DC. If NOVA was removed, VA would once again be a lovely, low tax, red state.
The Virginia section of D.C. was returned to the Old Dominion in 1847.
One year ago in Chicago, 2024….
https://www.illinoispolicy.org/chicago-unemployment-is-highest-in-nation/
What did they think would happen when Chicago became a “sanctuary” for illegal aliens? The sensible among us know illegals take American jobs
The crime and taxes chasing businesses out is still in full force. You can’t operate an office safely in Chicago. But the people apparently can’t see it, they go from bad mayor to worse, and repeat the process.
No one on the country thought they could elect a worse mayor than lightfoot. Chicagoan’s said hold my beer.
“That Americans won’t do”.
I draw your attention to dates on the graph 2021 to 2025.
Notice the Green (Hiring) vs the Red (Leaving: fired, retired, resigned, etc.).
I will bet that Graph looks the same, 2008-2016 … under Obama.
I also suspect, since President Trump DID NOT have control over the Executive branch of Government, 2017-2020, the Graph looks the same and those New Hires WERE PRIMARILY NOT MAGA Professionals.
That is how control over the manpower management office of a Federal Agency allows populating an agency with unsavory and rotten characters. These “professionals” are the PROTECTED by law Landmines waiting to explode on command to damage President Trump or derail MAGA related efforts.
The goal for 2028 needs to be MAGA Professionals composing any new hires, in enough numbers to matter for the next MAGA President in 2028 … as well as creating a more MAGA oriented congress.
George W Bush also massively expanded the government. Fed salaries also started rising to ridiculous levels under W and then it was accelerated under BO.
Atta boy Don
The golden goose is damaged and laying smaller eggs.
I like that.
Let’s hope she hits menopause soon.
Where in the Constitution does it say, you are entitled to have a job and that the job will last till you die?
CryMore, libturds
Those poor swamp critters! Forced into the (gaaaack) PRIVATE SECTor where results are not only expected but are required.
If I were hiring in the private sector, I would never hire a former government employee. They are lazy and overpaid.
“You are leaving Tony Bastard’s Airline…buh bye.”
Let them learn to code.
Maybe even eat cake.
Apparently the lowlife husband of one of them knew how to create a malicious app that warned the miscreants where ICE was. I’d like to know how that works without inside help. I had to laugh when little wifey was promptly fired.
Good, that’s life… not going to shed a tear.
Reducing the level of the pervasive bureaucratic influence will not be terrible, as others have noted, let them actually work for a change. What is the joke? learn how to code.
Oh, and I found uncle joey foot eater, he’s in the pool with the snorkel.
I love that picture.
Send all the Senators and Representatives back to their voters and only let the bums go to D.C. for special circumstances. As for the rest of the Federal employees cut them all loose. I’m tired of paying their salaries. I can do my corrupt reps job with no problem. Time is wasting.
CNN today says we’re nationally down over two million people.
Population die-off.
Brought to us by abortion, gender-affirming care, (sterilization of children) and AWFL who do not prescribed to the nuclear family unit.
That’s reality.
This will negatively impact at least a generation or two or three………God Knows.
Now let’s get rid of the 20,000,000 illegal aliens! Housing prices might become sane again, and Americans might get jobs again
Try 50 or 60 million illegals.
Not enough.
Little old DC ‘deep-state-elites” get to have their own personalize shite show that Main Street America has endlessly experienced except for 45’s term.
After losing their jobs, hope they lose their homes and see what the rest of American experienced at their hands.
No sympathy from me.
And while we’re at it, let’s start carving 47’s image on Mt Rushmore. Give them something else to whine about. It’s pile on time.
I have a real hard time feeling sorry for anyone that has lost their job working for the Federal Government. They had a buyout offered. DC metro has never had a downturn in the economy. It just grows and grows with our money.
Friday, I spent 2 hours in the Virginia DMV. It was like watching a slow motion train wreck. As the line didn’t move the workers either went on break or moved like a snail across the room. It was finger nails on a chock board. Then when I finally get served i have to speak through a plexiglass shield. I guess CoViD never went away. Half the conversation was: I’m sorry I cannot hear what you are saying….
Good news I was able to renew my drivers license without the “Real Id”. Yee Haw!
That stupid rule needs to be repealed. If illegals can waltz around without ID why should we have to have an enhanced ID?
The cuts in government waste, fraud and abuse can’t be large enough or come fast enough. But you have to start.
I know someone out in Silicon Valley. He is 50 years old. As typical of these high tech companies there are a lot of layoffs happening at the same time. A lot of people have been thrown out the door simultaneously.
And, then, in three or four months these people find jobs there but at a lower income, which is the point of these simultaneous mass layoffs. It is clever and cruel. Plus people in the late forties and early fifties are shown the door before the increasing health issues have an aggregate impact on insurance. This helps with their bottom line as well.
People in Washington, suck on it.
The techies get replaced with H1B visa foreigners, which drives wages down too
Yup
DC Swamp Critters are losing their jobs and are sad?
I love the smell of winning in the morning!
Biden job growth was mostly Fed workers.
hence the firing now.
walk in any big city and see them everywhere walking around
The different departments of the US gubmint need dispersed throughout the United States.
The whole of DC needs to be in the footprint of the essential government buildings, and that’s it!
All 700,000 plus residents need to have their homes repatriated to the closest State
No relocation benefits, salary and benefits reduced to prevailing wages in their new location.
In other words, let’s get really fascist when it comes to Federal employees, because they don’t deserve the same inalienable rights as other American citizens. What a shameful post.
Uhh…how is that fascist?
it sounds good on paper but I don’t want them in my state.
No VA does not want them
I researched it bill climton cut like 325k federal jobs during his term. I think his first term. I believe newt Gingrich drove this.
There was a large RIF in the early 90s. It was primarily retirement age or near retirement age workers taking a nice buyout to go home and receive a pension.
Federal Workers were each given $25,000 if they quit voluntarily.
Those that refused the time limited offer were fired.
That is absolutely, totally inaccurate. Totally inaccurate. Not to mention illogical. If Federal workers who refused the time-limited offer were fired, why are there still any Federal employees at all??
Maybe because all of them didn’t get the offer. Only the deadwood.
The young people feeling the pinch will be very political next year. We should not be patting ourselves on the backs at our victories, and don’t we all love winning? We should be using whatever influence we each own. those of us who can, should be calling our reps. The swamp will not stay down long, and Marc Elias is already planning massive lawfare:
“If Republicans threaten five Democratic seats in Texas, Democrats should threaten fifteen, twenty or even thirty Republican seats in states they control.
It’s not enough to say Democrats shouldn’t bring a knife to a gun fight — if Republicans bring pistols, Democrats should bring machine guns.
and “The more aggressive, the better. The goal is to make the problem so large that Republican House members pressure their leadership to call it off. ” Just remember for every Elias there are a dozen more already working their lawfare.
Dems already redistrict like that. See IL, CA, etc.
Time to give Elias the Guilliani treatment. He’s been a boil on our butts for too long.
“While the data mostly reflects private-sector job losses,”
i.e. Gov’t contractors.
The gov’t civilian workforce is simply on a hiring freeze for the most part. Many took the Deferred Resignation (or Retirement?) Plan called DRP (derp!). All those people come off the books on 1 October, but right now are on paid administrative leave.
Expect the gov’t job losses to accelerate into the Fall. DoD recently extended the hiring freeze until mid-October. And there is a TON of contract descope activity going on across the board.
The core issue, however, is getting the actual government employee headcounts cut massively. Cutting contractors is called “pendulum swinging” for a reason. Everybody knows that the gov’t goes through these wild swings of gov’t contracts every 4-8 years or multiples thereof. It’ll swing back.
That’s fat. They haven’t really started cutting meat yet.
Burn it all to the ground and then salt it.
Good.
Tax their unemployment insurance by 100%.
MAGA
Thank you, Jethro.
Rust belt communities experienced the same pain and worse over the last 50 years, some have yet to recover. Policies emanating from the DC area were a major contributor and no one gave a damn . The displaced in those communities had to sacrifice and adapt, many had to settle for less. Now it’s your turn.
Many of those towns just died off. Sad.
MAGA!!
I wonder what the statistics are from the outlying areas of DC? That might show even more out migration.
Well that’s a darn shame.
Claims from 1000 to 1700?!
That’s within the margin of error of the margin of error.
Something to note with the WARN-notice layoffs. Once the employer reports the initial number – more layoffs say a week or month later aren’t updated but are still covered under the initial WARN-notice.
Contractors have the notices on file and have laid off hundreds more since their initial layoff notices which aren’t being publicly announced.
The federal cuts have also not started in DoD yet so that’s a whole lot more feds and contractors that may be cut given the size of DoD’s budget.
I escaped from that hellhole over 40 years ago.
To everyone there that makes a “living” directly or indirectly from money extorted from taxpayers like me….welcome to the REAL world that you’ve never experienced until now.
Sorry. Not sorry
In General, it couldn’t happen to a finer class of people, or a more deserving communitee.
We Need new Recission Bill’s to Zero out everything to NY and CA untill they realize and accept they are just 2 more states, and not special in any way, and not deserving of a penny of their fellow states $$, especially for non-citizens.
Unemployment insurance for fed (workers) in DC up…… so they went from doing almost nothing ….to totally nothing $weet…..
Federal employment is very high paid welfare with a place to go every day (well before Covid anyway).
Anecdotal Observation:
I live in a northeastern region with heavy summer tourism. This year I have observed a massive increase in out of state plates from Maryland and Virginia (Texas as well, not sure why but may be rental-car related). This increase has created a pattern markedly different from past years, with MD/VA plates surpassing other commonly-seen seen states such Pennsylvania.
My hypothesis is these people are Federal employees who have been laid off or took the buyout. I cannot think of any reason why Maryland and Virginia have seen such a large increase other than former Federal employees with lots of free time.
“Washingtonians are cutting back on things like dining out, clothing, and beauty products”
This is a concern? The rest of the country started dealing with that 4 years ago. What’s next… Virginia and D.C. suburbanites are gonna have to cut back on the high-end Chardonnay?
Meanwhile, flyovers are cutting back on eggs, meat, and electricity…
We’re doing that in SoCal too, thanks to the idiot dems who have us in a stranglehold.
Learn to farm.
The Virginia GOP hopes enough federal workers, contractors, and big government Leftist-types have moved out of the state so the GOP has a chance in the upcoming state elections in November. All of that is less than 100 days away.
