The New York Post is sharing statements from Ghislaine Maxwell’s attorney following a second day of DOJ interviews with his client.
However, I would be very cautious with anything said by Ms. Maxwell or her attorney David Oscar Markus. Both are prone to sensationalism as a legal strategy.
(NYP) – Notorious sex criminal Ghislaine Maxwell answered questions from Justice Department officials about “100 different people” linked to late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, an attorney for the disgraced socialite claimed Friday following two days of questioning led by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.
David Oscar Markus told reporters that his client, currently serving a 20-year sentence after being convicted of federal sex trafficking and conspiracy charges in December 2021, was “asked about every possible thing you could imagine – everything.”
“This was the first opportunity she’s ever been given to answer questions about what happened,” Markus added. “The truth will come out about what happened with Mr. Epstein and she’s the person who’s answering those questions.”
Blanche had “every single question” answered during the sitdown, Maxwell’s attorney also said, with the British-born convict declining to plead the Fifth Amendment. (read more)
Remember, Ms Maxwell was factually convicted for her role in sex trafficking of minors specifically for the benefit of her employer, Jeffrey Epstein. Her current incarceration applies to her criminal conduct on behalf of her boss, Mr. Epstein.

Is Ms Maxwell a trustworthy witness?

Why would she lie? Why wouldn’t she lie if there were something to be gained, or an old ax to grind?
Anything she claims needs to be able to be verified if she expects any modification of her sentence.
And any modification of her sentence needs to be sized in direct relation to it’s usefulness to exonerate the innocent and convict the guilty.

Private investigators, special counsel, forensic evidence, ie phone logs, flight records, etc.
What would happen if you or I were to be accused by a criminal like Maxwell based on phone logs and a business collaboration we may have had outside the human and child trafficking she was involved in? It would be unsubstantiated evidence.
I can give an example from personal experience. As a young woman working a part time job in a travel agency while in college, I often booked flights to Sea Island for a wealthy businessman who was eventually arrested and found guilty of insurance fraud. He owned the insurance company. We had many conversations about his flight schedules and I sold him several airline tickets. What if unbeknownst to me he was a human trafficker to other influential businessmen on the island? You see the problem?

Her appeal, which is now a petition for cert before SCOTUS, concerns the plea bargain that Epstein made with the US Attorney in Florida in 2007. The language included “potential co-conspirators.” The issue is whether this plea deal bound other federal prosecutors.
If she pimped for other men, that could be a different matter, but if the DOJ wants to get the men, they might have to cut a deal with Ghislaine (who would hardly be the most credible witness).

my understanding is this issue of a plea deal made in Florida may or may not be enforceable in another state. In other words SCOTUS will not be reviewing the trial results of maxwell but rather if plea deals must be enforced from one to another. I think not. it’s an area of law that isn’t precisely settled. But if you look at the arc of court cases involved other state criminal cases where deals that result in non action against “potential” co conspirators, they are edge cases. And I think this is what makes this case so very twisted. It was derschowitz and company and Acosta would made those deals.

The whole thing was a scam!
