The U.S-Canada trade deal status is simply a no-brainer. President Trump will answer questions about Canada and tariffs, he’ll put people into seats to discuss trade with the Canadian delegation, and he’ll give every outward appearance of being favorable to Prime Minister Mark Carney…. BUT…
In the background, Trump is simply waiting for the USMCA timeline to trigger a renegotiation. President Donald Trump is ambivalent to the trade partnership with Canada. This moot-status reality is why there’s no substantive engagement.
‘No deal’ -until USMCA redo- is a win for President Trump.
For some bizarre reason that I simply cannot fathom, almost every Canadian politician seems entirely oblivious to this reality. Instead, Canadian Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc and Mark Carney’s chief-of-staff, Marc-André Blanchard are once again coming to DC to ride their bicycles in slow circles at the bottom of the White House driveway while staring in the windows.
An article in Politico notes the Canadian premiers are now accepting the August 1st deadline will pass without any agreement, and the 35% reciprocal tariffs on non-USMCA products (meaning a lot of stuff) is going to trigger.
Literally, everything from Canada that has a non-USMCA component is going to be tariffed. Think about all the stuff from China, Asia (writ large) and Europe that Canada assembles for finished goods. All of that stuff will be subject to the tariffs.
That said, there’s good news coming from the recent meeting between Prime Minister Carney and the Premiers. Within their statement they use the term “developing large infrastructure projects.” That’s Canadian political codespeak for them realizing they are going to have to get back to regular energy development, raw material use/refinement and ACTUAL MANUFACTURING.
Canada is going to have to bring back their ‘dirty’ industrial jobs.
For our Treehouse friends in Canada, this is very good news. The Canadian assembly economic model has to change in order to get compliant with U.S. trade rules. THAT’S TRUMP’S ENTIRE POINT!
The environmentalists within Canada will not like this, but economically they will have no choice; it’s the only way to avoid a complete economic depression.

“We would like to have the ideal deal, as fast as possible. But what can we get?” Quebec Premier François Legault said Tuesday. “You almost need to ask Donald Trump, and I’m not even sure he knows himself what he wants.”
It’s a shift in tone from the premiers and Carney, who ran for election on his economic record, arguing he’d be the best person to negotiate with the president. But Canada is finding it harder than it looks.
Carney met the premiers in Muskoka, cottage country north of Toronto, to update them on Canada-U.S. negotiations.
As the leaders emerged from a three-hour meeting, they downplayed hopes of an Aug. 1 deal, arguing that achieving a “good deal” is more important than hitting a deadline.

Canada is going to go into a deep economic recession; there’s no way to avoid it. However, if they restart their industrial base, drop the ridiculous ‘green’ energy stuff, start exploiting their own natural resources and train an apprentice generation -just like we are trying to do- then Canada can bounce back stronger than ever.
We know there are Canadian wolverines who understand this concept; we saw thousands of them in the Truckers’ vaccine strike. Make Canada Great Again, by Making Dirty Jobs Great Again, eh?
As a Canadian, I am appalled at the actions, or rather inactions, of PM Carney. He seems to think he can start trade with the EU to replace his US trade. We are doomed unless he can be voted out soon.

Maybe I’m missing something? Seems obvious that the goal of the Canadian commie I mean prog leadership is to destroy the middle class. Their actions make perfect sense, if so. The plan is to turn Canada into California, with only two classes, feudal lords and Serfs. They’re prolly frustrated they can’t burn Toronto to the ground with a forest fire, and build a bunch of public housing hive dwellings on the ashes.

The problem is that this “Green” Leftist govt may be hard core Communists who are intent on destroying Canadian society. They may be salivating at the ensuing deep depression and civil unrest that may result from their decision to tank the Canadian economy. Despite the US no longer being in the torture chamber of witnessing The Autopen trying to destroy our country, the Canadians are still in the throws of this. We are also still seeing the same thing in CA, where we have a govt that appears to be deliberately trying to destroy our lives. Just one example: Despite President’s Trump’s EO to outlaw the dismantling of the fossil fuel industry in favor of hair-brained “Green” schemes, Gavin Newsom and his Communist Democrats are going full steam ahead with this. No one is this clueless or incompetent IMO, which is why I think this is deliberate sabotage of the CA economy and of our modern way of life here in CA.
We just got noticed by our power company, PG&E that they are in the planning stages of picking a pilot area to start dismantling natural gas lines going into people’s homes and forcing people to “electrify” their homes in anticipation of the “No Fossil Fuels” laws that CA has on the books. The Jerry Brown et al law says CA is to be “carbon free” by 2045, and Newsom has been getting a head start on the project of outlawing all natural gas energy and appliances in CA despite President Trump’s EO that makes this illegal. Listen up because with CA usually leading the Democrats in the nation, this scheme may be coming to a Blue state/city near you, if not the entire country if Newsom or another Democrat gets into the While House.
We were told by our city that natural gas infrastructure cannot be installed in new construction, but homeowners don’t have to replace existing gas appliances with electric appliances. (which also means redoing the electric wiring in your home to accommodate all the additional amps you’ll need to power up all your new electric furnace, water heater, stove, and EV charger, besides the expense of all the appliances) Unfortunately, Gavin Newsom & his Cabal passed a law in 2022, AB 209, which makes local jurisdiction moot when it comes to legal input as to how energy matters get rolled out. We are do to what Sacramento says and destroy ourselves, no matter how disastrous everyone recognizes their plans are, apparently. A PG&E employee who was working on the electric lines in my neighborhood told me himself that the grid cannot handle what they have already, let alone what Newsom & his cabal are demanding of the company with their intent to ban fossil fuel energy systems. Others in the appliance industry also say this plan is completely infeasible. Not to mention illegal according to President Trump’s EO.
Here in CA we have already seen the catastrophic results of Newsom & his Democrat Cabal’s planning on how to enhance the grid without fossil fuel infrastructure: Massive lithium-ion battery storage facilities, because no one noticed how unstable these are apparently. Coming to a city near you if these companies can get away with it. In one of the most beautiful areas of the country and a major tourist industry: The pristine Monterey Bay Area National Marine Sanctuary (home to last vestiges of the threatened and endangered southern sea otter) vast areas of farmland feeding the nation, “The Nation’s Salad Bowl”, and fishing industries, Newsom’s planners along with their PG&E partners and Vistra (a Texas company supplying these Tesla batteries) thought it would be a brilliant idea to put the nation’s largest lithium battery storage facility right in the middle of all of this at Moss Landing, right next to the Elkhorm Slough which is where a majority of the sea otters live. Without any effective safety planning or opportunity for local people to carefully plan this or have a say in the matter.
There have been multiple fires there from the get-go, the worst of which was in January 2025 when a massive uncontrollable fire of at least 50,000 lithium batteries burned, (some say 100K?) spewing dangerous toxic chemicals, including Cobalt, Nickel, Manganese, and noxious gas over the entire area, which included evacuations. Has there been any real Mia Culpa or vows to go back to the drawing board and make sure this massive disaster never happens again? Or to make amends to all whose lives, health, and businesses have been shattered as a result of this? Oh Hell no. The official MO has been “everything is safe” and “there is nothing to worry about.” Instead of a responsible approach one would expect after a disaster like this, PG&E and Vistra announced their plans to go right back on line June 1 without even finding out what caused the fire or what the impact of this disaster has had on the Monterey Bay Area or what to do to prevent this in the future. In fact, they have three other similar facilities they are planning to build in the same area. As soon as the plant started up again, despite the vehement objections of the local govt and citizens, immediately there was ANOTHER malfunction and leak, and only then was PG&E convinced by the county to shut down “until a better emergency plan is in place.”
Does anyone believe this is just reckless, irresponsible incompetence and not deliberate sabotage? What kind of money are people making from this “Green” scam? What’s in it for them if they make valuable land a worthless toxic waste dump and destroy the energy infrastructure of our state so we are brought back to the 1800’s?
Thank you for taking the time to read about this tragic tale coming from my area of the country. It has been heartbreaking for millions of us and the devastation is just beginning, unless there is federal intervention to stop these criminally minded entities. Please don’t say people voted for this so we deserve what we get in CA. It seems plain to see, even from an international perspective, that our elections in CA are corrupt. We no longer have free elections here. My point is that these types of govt officials shrieking “save the planet” and their corporate partners in crime literally don’t care if we live or die or if they destroy our livelihoods, our economies, and they certainly don’t give a damn about the environment. IMO these are infiltrators who are the Enemy Within. I hope the people who have been asleep regarding who they are will wake up and we can all work at throwing every last one of these scoundrels out of office. Thank you for listening.
