Healing Hand, as I lay in my bed this evening, I pray for Your restorative power to touch my life. Mend what has been broken, soothe what has been hurt, and heal what has been wounded. May I find in sleep the healing that my body and spirit need and wake to a day of renewed health and vitality. Amen.
Evening Prayer for Wholeness
Gentle Healer, with the night’s calm, I seek Your healing for my body, mind, and soul. Where there is pain, bring relief; where there is fatigue, bring restoration; where there is distress, bring tranquility. Wrap me in Your peace as I trust in Your loving care to make me whole. Amen.
Prayer for Comfort in Illness
Lord of Comfort, as I face the trials of illness, I pray for Your healing touch. Ease my discomfort, calm my anxiety, and deliver me from my afflictions. In Your mercy, may I find the comfort that leads to a peaceful rest, knowing that You are with me, sustaining and healing me. Amen.

Here’s a story for ya, Woo.
Imagine 24 hour body pain; almost everywhere; everyday -for years.
So severe, that restful sleep is almost impossible.
A couple spinal surgeries (titanium screws and plates installed), knee surgery; from repeatedly falling from time to time, hammertoe surgery, wet macular degeneration in one eye, glaucoma in the other; both lenses replaced, type two diabetes, mild high blood pressure, high cholesterol and three staggered
bouts of Bell’s palsy on each side of the face.
Throw in, a fall down (thankfully) well padded shag carpeted thirteen stairs.
Then one day, (suddenly)
-hands are extremely red and swollen
and
-they cannot hold a fork to eat -nor a pen to write your name … leading to limited use of arms….. can’t
even wash your face!
Oh, and then acid reflux/gerds takes away eating without vile belching, frequent choking and vomiting.
Eeeeeehgads!!!!
Did I mention, the loss of standing and walking without a walker
-and human assistance?
Thank God for chairs with arms on wheels and handles in the back for being pushed.
Almost forgot ( how, ?) total loss of vision in one eye (! 😫); four months after losing your first -and favorite- child just four months after losing your second child.
Almost forgot about hearing impairment!
—Talk about “make you feel inferior without your consent”
BUT
Our Good Lord is very real and present.
-This I know —for certain!

“Home care is the best care” was said to me, after asking the doctor, “what happened?”.
Long story, short:
-“Patience” was not my chosen name without purpose. It has been my constant subliminal prayer… my quest; for sincere present in- the-moment desire and heartfelt interest …to be my lifeline. 🥳
No more diabetes meds
Lower dosage of blood pressure meds.
Can stand and walk more sure-footed ,
and leg coordination.
(With walker and assistance).
Very little pain; 2 Tylenol.
Had two shots in eye
to stop the wet Mac.
Can easily read; sometimes without glasses -nor magnifying glass.
Can pick up a bread crumb, a dime… eat, brush teeth, cut food, write and sign name….wash face and body just past the knee!!!!!!!
Found the right hearing aids, so comprehension and cognition allows for memory improvement, and retention… and normal conversation!!!
AND
Has found a new passion since January
-colored pencil artwork.
OMG ❣️❣️❣️.
– There’s a definite style developing; at ninety-four. Woohoo!!!

The number one goal was to help to transition from being independent -after living alone; even digging in and tending a pretty large garden, (except for getting groceries, and doctor appointments) till eighty-seven.
Quite a process (whew-boy) to accept a totally different life
-requing ‘assisted living’.
First and foremost:
trust and an absolute sense of stability …reliable safety…security; with no worldly worries/removing stress.
The allowance of feeling free to have choice/ being in charge of self; no mandates or restrictions of any kind. (gasping for myself -ha!)
Eating anything and everything; small portions throughout the day.
Vitamins and supplements.
Physical movement:
Regular / frequent arms, legs, feet, hand and finger movements /stretches…
, standing up for the count of ten frequently, and lots of human touch; hugs kisses, gentle pats and tugs, and massage
( really!) , singing, laughing,
-sometimes (ahem) healthy ‘debates’, talking, listening, disliking and loving…
-talking to and honoring God; praying.
—-Stress
and loneliness can cause many
self-distractions and illnesses.
But, honestly,
-I do not know.
So true about loneliness. “A merry heart does good like a medicine.”
So sad. I hope you mother has had a happy and fulfilling life.
