North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis previously railroaded the nomination of USAO Ed Martin. Senator Tillis has also blocked many of the key elements of President Trump’s border effort and immigration plan, and last night he announced he will vote against President Trump and the Big Beautiful Bill.
Today, facing severe backlash from the people within his state and the larger MAGA community, Thom Tillis announces he is going to forcefully oppose the BBB and is not going to seek reelection, so there’s no political leverage against him.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina said Sunday he will not seek reelection, a day after announcing his opposition to President Donald Trump’s tax breaks and spending cuts package because of its reductions to health care programs.
Tillis said he was proud of his career in public service but acknowledged the difficult political environment for those who buck their party and go it alone.
“In Washington over the last few years, it’s become increasingly evident that leaders who are willing to embrace bipartisanship, compromise, and demonstrate independent thinking are becoming an endangered species,” he said in a lengthy statement.
“Sometimes those bipartisan initiatives got me into trouble with my own party, but I wouldn’t have changed a single one.”
Trump, in social posts, had berated Tillis for being one of two Republican senators who voted on Saturday night against advancing the massive bill. (more)

For example, in KY we have had good candidates throw their hat in the ring against McConnel in the primaries, but the system allows McConnel to then encourage/pay another candidate to also throw his/her hat in the ring splitting the anti-McConnell vote. McConnell wins primary, and he’s back in. I am sure this happens other places and quite frankly, on both sides.

My theory of these RINOs is that, while they do have some minor conservative tendencies, they still get all of their information from Democrat-controlled sources, which leaves them in the dark about the actual substance of almost every issue.
All that the Democrats’ propaganda outlets do is look for one or two talking points on every issue, or every new event, that they can put out to try to make their side look and conservatives look bad.
There is never any concern for whether what they are saying is true. They very self-consciously lie every day (“very fine people on both sides,” etc.), because they have accepted the hyper-partisan view that, because they are good and their opposition is evil, all that matters is winning, and if lies can help them win, that is what matters.
