The way this is being presented, it sounds like this town will be similar to the town of Ave Maria in SW Florida.
It’s pretty interesting. A Catholic town, huge Cathedral in the Town Square, a Catholic University down the street. Catholic Icon shops mixed in with Drug Stores and Restaurants, etc.
It’s a walkable community, which is a great thing. Anyone can live there. IOW, it’s not for Catholics only.
Recently, some Protestant churches have been added to the town. That took a while to happen, tho. The 1st few times I visited, it was the Catholic Cathedral only.
If this Muslim town is truly open to all, and eventually allows churches, etc. and – most importantly- follows only US laws, ie. no sharia law, then I don’t see a problem.

I do not expect New York to succeed in imposing “corporate income taxes” merely for doing business in New York. Virtually every business does so. If this idea were to catch on, then successful corporations would be filing 50 corporate tax returns every year.
Have a friend who is a retired major league baseball player who told me that they are taxed every time they play a game in NYC, even though they might live in Arizona. This was several years ago and I remember being surprised. I would assume this applies to any entertainer performing, etc.
OK. So, it’s doubtful he can do this, but if he did, I’d say OK, we stop doing business here. Period.

I believe my sons identity was stolen when he was very young. He was notified by the treasury that he has to prove he was who he said he was. I called the phone number on the paper and spoke to a treasury agent. I asked if my son’s identity had been stolen and the agent told me he did not have enough information to make that determination. I said you don’t have enough information, or you just don’t want to tell me it was. I said how can you not know, he has lived in the same house with both of his parents, has the same health insurance and attended school in his assigned district his entire life. He was only seventeen at the time so as a minor I took him to the federal building with all the information that was requested to bring. I was never told but this agent did tell me that children like my son who are off the radar (no government benefits) are the targets. So, I took that to mean that it was and because he was a child raised by parents who never received taxpayer government provided assistance he only came on to their radar because he had a job and that job required him to file a W2 and that W2 made him a taxpayer who filed taxes. I could be wrong, but I don’t think so.
I remember talking to a parent of a 12 year old. The IRS was going after the 12 year old for unpaid income taxes. The 12 year old did not work nor ever worked. Someone had stolen his SS#. The parent had to jump through hoops for 1 1/2 years trying to prove that the 12 year old never worked. Everyone knew that the SS# was stolen but it was easier to shake down law abiding citizens than to go after whatever illegal stole that SS#.
Good. This wouldn’t be happening if these employers used E-Verify. I live in central NC and I have a feeling I know who this company is. These companies should be fined for this. They know damn well what they are doing.
