One of the important things that VPJDV did not mention is the incredible amount of economic leverage that the U.S. and Europe have to coax Iran into line with the requirement of a more peaceful Middle East:
– If appropriate Iranian cooperation is forthcoming, U.S. sanctions can come off and Iran’s economy and society can start to breath normally again.
– If it is not forthcoming, then U.S. sanctions will remain in effect. And more important: the U.K. and France as JCPOA signatories have the power to “snap back” into place all of the international UNSC sanctions that were removed from Iran after it signed the JCPOA. (No UNSC vote will be required.)
Ceasefires are for resupply and reorganization. I never read about a ceasefire in WWII. Without victory there can be no peace. That is so clearly illustrated in the middle east.

The regime’s first priority will be to reassert its authority with the population as quickly as possible.
However, the IDF devastated the regime’s internal security force structures in Tehran.

To all the posters out there that predicted the end of Trump administration, the end of his 2nd term, the end of MAGA, and claim PDJT’s actions are not America first, I have some thoughts.
If/when we all get tired of so much peace in the middle east, consider how this is going to Make America Great Again. Respect from the world on how Trump has handled this, respect from Putin in particular, and the notion that America is/can be again the envy of the world. Trump is now the mentor to current and future leaders of the world and thus America will be greater than ever before.
All the naysayer so called Trump supporters need to have a little introspective staring at their navel time. I saw many here that when things got a little tough, they abandoned Trump, or maybe they were never really supporters. The trust in our President went right out the door even though many here tried to say, wait, give him a chance, let’s see what happens.
No, they couldn’t see the big picture. They ridiculed the steadfast supporters. They weren’t just skeptical, they got RINO snorting mad! Too many people here turned against the MAGADon. We now have some lessons in how America needs to function in the world and hopefully breeds a new class of politicians that study this, ingrain these methods, and continue to show the world true leadership for a long time in the future.

There are several different ways in which American can be “great”. The neocons and war-mongers want America to be great, in a fashion. They want it to the sole and undisputed global superpower which the rest of the world fears to cross.
MAGA/America First want a different sort of American greatness. They want America to be great first and foremost for American, not for the world. And they see that power corrupts America and Americans as easily as anyone else, and do not desire America to be the leader of a global empire because filling that role is incompatible with the Founders vision.
Also the airwaves are full of bots and troll commenters now, more then ever. Yes, many were concerned, yet not like the wave of comments. At many sites now the first comments to any story are loaded with negative Trump comments, and full of upvotes. almost the minute the article is published.
Hold on now. As of 6PM Sunday, there were two camps:
1.) If President Trump says the best thing to do is for America to drop bombs on Iran, then we totally and unconditionally support that course of action. And hopefully we’ll get some regime change while we’re at it.
2.) I don’t support President Trump’s apparent decision that the best thing to do is drop bombs on Iran, and possibly enter an ill-advised regime change war… we think he could have done better by negotiating a deal.
For #2: First of all, this whole episode did not start with the U.S. bombing on Sunday… it started with Israel’s preemptive strike, that, oh by the way, D.C. was not on board with… and there was a formal statement on official White House letterhead to that effect. That preemptive strike was in direct conflict with the Trump team’s stated goal of solving the Iran problem through diplomacy and negotiation, and using extreme measures only as a last resort. So you could say the preemptive strike was a flex by Bibi on Trump… and you can imagine how that went over.
Secondly, Israel’s goal is/was to not just take out the nuclear sites, but to totally decimate Iranian command and control, IRGC, preferably ALL ballistic missile sites and production facilities, kill as many top-level military and scientists as possible, and on and on. THAT is evidenced by their very actions over the past week, whether you agree or disagree with that motive. So would Israel go so far as ill-advised regime change? It certainly looked like that was a realistic possibility.
What NOBODY understood at the time was that purpose of the bombing was two-fold: 1.) take Iran’s nuclear sites off the table for all parties involved, and in so doing, 2.) put Bibi’s plan for whatever-it-is-they-think-they’re-doing back in the box.
That second outcome was key… we’ll take out the sites, but we can’t solve this by beating Iran into submission, as Israel apparently wants to do, so we need to end this thing pronto.
In short: Sundance is exactly right… Trump outwitted Netanyahu, but nobody was thinking that orthogonal maneuver. It was a risky maneuver, which could have easily gone sideways, but as Sundance posted previously “Trump’s emissary Steve Witkoff never stopped communicating with Iran on peace approach, and negotiated/coordinated a face-saving Iranian retaliation via a happy to oblige Qatar” with a link to the X post below, which says:
“JUST IN: Trump Envoy STEVE WITKOFF has remained in contact with Iran since American weekend strikes against their nuclear facilities.
President Trump has NEVER stopped on his attempts for long-term peace.
Time for Iran to stop playing games.”
But what that Tweet fails to mention is “Time for Israel to stop playing games”.

Israel’s military says it has detected the launch of missiles from Iran towards Israeli territory.
It called on the public to take shelter if they receive an alert and said its air defences are “working to intercept the threat”.
