However Japan is a bad example I think. Japan’s surrender was already pretty much unavoidable / set in stone at the time the bombs fell on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The US just dropped them to make a point at that time.
Also the US command gives us a a reason that Iran cannot have nukes : because they feel they will use them. No proof was ever submitted that Iran was close to a nuclear weapon. In fact intellence showed all those efforts were abandoned since 2003 I believe it was by Fatwa of Khamanei.
On the usage of nukes (the US BIGGEST fear!) Historically though only one nation has EVER used a nuclear weapon: the US against Japan.
And historically tonight the US is also the first country to bomb nuclear facilities, as they used to be protected (I think even under UN convention of some sort)
This sets a precedent for Ukraine as well w.r.t bombing nuclear facilities.

Hiroshima was the result of Okinawa, Iwo Jima, and many other battles. While Japan was “about” to lose the war, it hadn’t ended, and they proved they would not give up. We had sunk their shipping and were burning their cities.
5 choices in 1945: Starve them, burn them, invade them, nuke them, or…. surrender to them. We were in no mood for that option. So, what is a more moral way to kill people? Or allow the war to go on? Every day the war went on 7K died. Wait 10 days is 70K, 100 days is 700K more. They had plans to execute our prisoners in the event of invasion. Hard decision was made. Done. Over. Fini.

Iran was continuing to develop enriched uranium that has one use. They were also developing a missile arsenal to deliver both co mentioned and nuclear weapons. Even Secretary of War Henry Stimson, said: “the true question was not whether surrender could have been achieved without the use of the bomb but whether a different diplomatic and military course would have led to an earlier surrender. A large segment of the Japanese cabinet was ready in the spring of 1945 to accept substantially the same terms as those finally agreed on.” In other words, Stimson knew that the US had unnecessarily prolonged the war.
After Japan did surrender on August 15, 1945, MacArthur allowed the emperor to remain in place as spiritual head of Japan, the very condition that coerced the Japanese leadership to refuse to accept the earlier, humiliating, “unconditional surrender” terms.
So the two essential questions that need answering to comprehend what was going on behind the scenes are these: 1) Why did the US refuse to accept Japan’s only demand concerning their surrender (the retention of the emperor) and 2) why were the atomic bombs used when victory in the Pacific was already a certainty?’
Admiral William Leahy, top military aide to President Truman, said in his war memoirs, I Was There: “It is my opinion that the use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan. The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender because of the effective sea blockade and the successful bombing with conventional weapons. My own feeling is that in being the first to use it, we had adopted an ethical standard common to the barbarians of the Dark Ages.”
And General Dwight D. Eisenhower, in a personal visit to President Truman a couple of weeks before the bombings, urged him not to use the atomic bombs. Eisenhower said: “It wasn’t necessary to hit them with that awful thing . . . to use the atomic bomb, to kill and terrorize civilians, without even attempting [negotiations], was a double crime.”

Open Source Intel reports Iranian leadership states Fordow took minimal damage (we all know from earlier reports that all the good stuff was moved anyways). Zero radiation leaks reported by multiple parties including the Saudis, which also indicates little damage. Iran advising it will now target US , UK, French and German military assets in the region and will close Hormuz. Days ago they were also advising they would strike the oilfields of US regional partners too, but they’re not saying anything about that at this time.
NY and DC police forces have confirmed they have increased their presence around local “religious institutions and other sites.” One imagines they mean synagogues.

They won’t close Hormuz because the Chinese will be the #1 party hurt by that. Not only that, but Israel isn’t going to stop attacking Iranian military assets just because of tonight’s action.

With a new regime in Iran, the US Navy won’t have to guarantee the Straight remains open.
That would be true… cautiously pessimistic… but if the Iranians don’t rise up and tamp down the inevitable bloody “resistance”, then we have long terms problems. Yes, America can keep bombing, or even put the boots on ground, etc… but without Iran — specifically the vast collection of people who presumably want their freedom — becoming “normalized” through revolt, civil war, what have you… then perhaps we end up with another Iraq. I recall a cornerstone of that whole Iraq thing being “the people are going to rise up” and whatnot… that sorta happened, but it didn’t go as planned or expected.
LOL. I think I’ll believe the President when he says Fordow was obliterated. Also, we would know if any enriched uranium had been moved as everything around that site has been subject to around the clock intelligence for the past week.
Any site reporting on what Iranian leadership is saying isn’t worth paying attention to.

As I said before, not only did PDJT destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities, he destroyed Iran’s ability to fund terrorism. Nobody supports Iran anymore, Russia and China both walked away. Now we have to watch and see what the Iranian terrorists in our Country are going to do.
