I think back to decades past getting tutored in calculus in high school by one of the very few kids in school who was a Negro. For the grace of God he could’ve been turned by the dark side. Instead, he went on to MIT and work as a nuclear physicist in the atomic energy industry.
That sounds unremarkable now but it was pretty remarkable in a relatively small town in the 1970’s. The church provided tuition assistance for economically disadvantaged families regardless of race and his family was one. Another was a friend of mine, not Negro, rather Italian, who was one of eight kids and lived in what most would term a pretty feral environment. In a sense, we all, as church members who contributed, pitched in for that.

Do emergency rooms become tasked to deny medical care selectively based on immigration status or other status? Do they already?
Or, does the burden of ‘payment’ shift to the medical care industry itself and, by extension, people who purchase or provided insurance for medical claims? Somebody always pays.
Where I lived for sixty plus years, California, emergency rooms didn’t deny or provide care based on ability to pay or insurance status. The last time I was at one personally, having taken a friend there with his hand and partially cut off thumb packed in ice (tablesaw accident), the place looked like a farm labor contractor hall with people spilling out the door into the ambulance bay.
He, with Cadillac insurance, waited for a couple hours to be seen to have his thumb fixed. While I was there, he let someone who was collapsing behind him go in front of him. Ambulances sometimes, but not always, got priority. That was just after ZeroCare and the big beautiful health bill hit.
Today, I’ll be ripping some redwood on the saw he cut his thumb mostly off with, which he gave to me after that incident. He died about ten years later of a turbo cancer during the first year of the Covid op.
I’m the decided skeptic. To much life under the bridge to take everything at face value, especially where politicians are concerned. God bless.

The operation to cue riots over the removal of illegal immigrants has been well-planned in advance.
