So, I seriously doubt the bill is dead. It will be adjusted to accommodate all the concerns and it will get passed.
I hope you’re right that it will be adjusted to accommodate his concerns. Sen. Johnson is correct about the need for substantial cuts due to the size of the deficit and debt. If the Republicans cannot get it right this year, a non-election year, and this early in President Trump’s term, then it will never get done. They won’t dare do anything big next year heading in to the mid-terms, and after that Trump will be a lame duck in the last half of his last term and his priorities will take backseat to the ambitions of the Republicans in Congress. Big cuts in spending and civilian federal employment (principally in the DC area) must take place this year.
I was disappointed that the other Johnson (Mike) has not tried to get the budgeting process back to “regular order” with separate bills and was opting for this “big beautiful” omnibus bill. They are slacking off on this and in the process showing they are not serious about controlling spending. There are too few Ron Johnsons and too many Mike Johnsons.

The Biden administration’s global ambassador for all things LGBT was a travel diva with no regard for cost, who even got smacked down for “inappropriate” spending requests as she traveled on the government dime, according to a batched of emails obtained by The Daily Wire.
The emails show that Jessica Stern, the Biden State Department’s Special Envoy to Advance the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Persons, failed to report travel expenses on time, requested a costly car for a week in Rome, and berated staff for missing vegetarian meals on her flights as she jetted around the world pushing far-left ideology, according to a batch of emails obtained by The Daily Wire.
Stern raked in $180,000 a year as her state-sanctioned LGBT activism took her to all six habitable continents, with stops in places like Fiji and Brazil, where she traveled on the taxpayer dime to march alongside a “transvestite sl*t,” a previous Daily Wire exposé found.
Documents reviewed by The Daily Wire, obtained by the Center to Advance Security in America (CASA), show that Stern, who left her post after President Donald Trump’s re-election, failed to even report her travel expenses on time. The envoy, who said in her emails that she identifies with “all pronouns,” even admitted that she didn’t know where she would find her expenses after a State Department official asked for her accounting.
