An friend of mine in Philly was a university professor of the old school: in-class, proctored, closed book essay exams, with no list of possible test questions handed out ahead of time. He had a student who skipped class a lot (the student actually told the professor that the student didn’t think the class discussion was sufficiently challenging), and then stopped by to get the exam questions for review.
When the student asked, “when can I get the exam questions?”, the professor replied, “When you open up your blue book in class on exam day.”
Professor also randomly assigned seats on exam day, so those who usually sat in the back rows could suddenly find themselves up front. One student missed this announcement and showed up for a final in a heavy, long-sleeved sweater on a warm spring day. Instead of taking her usual seat in back, she’d gotten a front row seat.
The professor said neither student did well on their exams.

Any one who has raised children…knows that humanity is born with “critical thinking”….from the time one’s toddler or preschooler first asks
“WHY?”.
Those vote totals are bogus. On election night, Trump was ahead by about 5 million votes, and even that total was tainted by widespread fraud. All votes that came after election night were completely fraudulent. I believe that a true count probably would find Trump winning by upwards of 10 or 12 million votes, if not more.
And roughly 90 million voted. It scares me, looking at those numbers of popular vote. Kind of like the Germans in Nazi Germany, looking the other way. Society, as well as these politicians, scare me.
Aggiegirl, I can sympathize with you as I am in the same situation. I am frugal myself and just take care of needs and not wants. I’ve not had a vacation since 2002. Just can not justify spending the money I really do not have. White hot rage and cold anger describe me at times also. I am hoping and praying I feel some relief soon.

At least where we live, building is already taking off like a rocket and prices are falling. Gas is in the 2.59 range and fresh food prices, produce etc, are down considerably too.
I’m extremely confident President Trump can make economic history again, even more than before covid.

Salt is state and local tax deduction that they are raising to benefit the blue states. It is happening, but our “no tax on social security “ disappeared without word nor explanation.
I want no income taxes for seniors. Not on pensions. Not on interest. Not on sale of house. Not on Social security wages. Not on wages. Once 66, if employed, no FICA or Medicare withheld from paycheck. 66 and done paying into.
No property taxes too! A HUGE portion of my property taxes go to pubic schools. I never had kids and have been paying “property” taxes since 1984.
Property taxes are county and sometimes city taxes. I guess Property taxes could be replaced by higher sales taxes, but you would be still paying for them indirectly.
Fine. That means non home owners will pay their “fair share” too instead of voting to increase bond and millage’s only to be able to pack up and move.

Washington state has no income tax. However take a look at vehicle fees, business license Fees and of course sales taxes. One or more, if not all three seem to go up yearly if not more often.

Actually income tax for seniors show have a cop of some sort.
For seniors one of the biggest issues is Property Tax. Many are even worse off then me. Until I got the SD Property Tax Freeze(think that what its called) I was paying almost 2 months of my retirement income for property taxes. Now I pay around 3/4s of a month for my Property Taxes.
As for supporting schools with my property taxes– BS…Really can’t believe the monies this most South Dakota District waste with some of the poorest education around.
I assumed people would see that my reply to DB was in reference to the first sentence of the post: I want no income tax for seniors. But I had a senior moment and forgot what happens when one assumes…..

So, NO taxes of any kind on seniors, NONE.

I don’t know about that but I did have an 8 X 12 color photo of a trident missile (or whatever it was), coming out of the ocean from an SSBN back in the day. Re: those utility rebates paid to consumers and companies to convert to E* products. It wasnt “free money” from heaven; it was a surcharge paid by rate payers on their monthly electric bills.
When I lived in a NGRID utility State my home was already full of E* products, so I never bought any new stuff and thus never got a rebate. Yet for 10 years I paid a surcharge on my electric bills so that other people could get THEIR rebates. It was basically a wealth redistribution plan.
Yes I saved on electricity consumption but that happened irregardless of the E* program. Yet over 10 years I spent over $1000 in electricity surcharges.
It’s also not uncontroversial. There are middlemen (grifters) between the Utilities and consumers who administer these programs and allocate the funding. Somehow these middlemen have gotten rich in the process.

These Prop 65 warnings are everywhere in California, it’s a huge scam, you have to put them on everything or you get sued.
I recently bought a new mountain bike. It had prop 65 warnings on every component. Who knew cycling caused cancer?

The head of their program was fired, NSA brought the contractor eventually to get that money into NSA management and they, of course, chose the much more expensive, but no more capable and not yet implemented Trailblazer which also didn’t include the protective measures for US citizens that Thinthread had.
After 9/11, they ran the stored NSA data through Thinthread and not only found that it would have predicted 9/11, but that there were more terrorist actions planned that, fortunately, didn’t take place, including more planes. [see below]
NSA’s response – completely shut the program down.
Any version of Thinthread they tried to get implemented ANYWHERE else in the fedgov like the spysat agency National Reconnaissance Office, Customs and Border Protection, and CIA after 9/11 was prevented because it would embarrass the NSA and General Hayden, the guy who insisted that Trailblazer should be used, who was promoted TWICE after “the greatest intelligence failure in the history of the NSA.”
Finally, the homes of the main characters in this film were later raided at gunpoint to make sure any Thinthread documentation or products were totally erased from history.

Sayee Chaitanya Reddy Devagiri pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in San Jose to a single count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Devagiri, 30, of Newport Beach, California, admitted to working with three others in 2020 and 2021 to defraud the San Francisco-based delivery company, federal prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said Devagiri used customer accounts to place high-value orders and then used an employee’s credential to gain access to DoorDash software and manually reassign the orders to driver accounts that he and others controlled. He then caused the fraudulent driver accounts to report that the orders had been delivered when they had not, and manipulated DoorDash’s computer systems to pay the fraudulent driver accounts for the nonexistent deliveries, officials said.
Devagiri would then use DoorDash software to change the orders from “delivered” status to “in process” status and manually reassign the orders to driver accounts he and others controlled, beginning the process again, prosecutors said.
Devagiri is the third defendant to be convicted of his role in this conspiracy. Two co-defendants previously pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, authorities said.
Devagiri faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000. He is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 16, 2025.
