British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the goofy Polish Prime Minister who doesn’t do much, Donald Tusk, took the pantomime train into Ukraine for a spring walk with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The U.K, German and French political leaders are all using their Ukraine involvement to deflect from the political chaos that exists back home. Starmer, Zelenskyy, Macron, Merz and Tusk brought their best videographers and photographers to provide the optics and visuals.
The quintet’s performance included a phone call to President Trump in order to collectively wag their finger at Russian President Vladimir Putin, while saying they all agreed to a 30-day ceasefire starting tomorrow (Mon). You can tell this is all theatrically produced as part of World War Reddit because earnest diplomatic negotiations do not take place through media.
If they want a Monday ceasefire, the ‘dramatic acting’ crew needs to have Putin on the call – not Trump. Duh!
In response to the latest chapter in the public relations campaign, Russian President Putin has requested to meet Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Turkey next week on Thursday. Zelenskyy, speaking on behalf of the international intelligence apparatus that is conducting the proxy war, says he will not meet to discuss the terms for a ceasefire with Putin unless a ceasefire already exists. Again, the confliction is simply more surface evidence of the IC involvement.

“So we are clear, all five leaders here – all the leaders of the meeting we just had with the coalition of the willing – an unconditional ceasefire, rejecting Putin’s conditions, and clear that if he turns his back on peace, we will respond.

This – Trump exiting the nonsense – is one interpretation, but not the one I would attribute to what we have seen in the last week. Trump had a Witkoff and a Kellogg ceasefire option and Trump Admin went onboard 100 percent with the Kellogg 30-day-ceasefire (he posted about it on Truthsocial! What more do you need.) and the 4 coalition stooges from Ukraine even called into the Whitehouse to show the World Trump was now full onboard with the ceasefire 30 days or ELSE.
Putin basically took this, and did a Judo diplomacy move to offer full negotiations with the Kiev regime starting from Istanbul+ on May 15th. No ceasefires. Putin also exactly explained why Russia has and will reject (the deadhorse) ceasefire plans.
The Kiev negotiations are offered to be conducted Istanbul, Turkey. Now there’s symbolism in there and a message.
No preconditions on Russia part. As opposed to precondition for Western nations is a ceasefire and continuation of Ukraine armamanet and military buildup.
Moment of truth. Kiev has two options now
1) they start negotiations from Istanbul agreement (March 2022 and Ukraine walked away after agreeing / / initialing it — you know, when Boris Johnston flew to Kiev and declared war on Russia)
2) Or Kiev does not go to the negotiations, pulls off some kind of escalatory move (attack on Kerch bridge, another general assassination?) and Russia comes out on top as well.
It’s basically perfect diplomacy to take and transfer the media circus momentum for a “30 day ceasefire or ELSE” into a pants-off-pants-on moment for the Coalition of the Willing.
As for Trump he went full on Kellogg plan.
Strangely though with this Istanbul negotiation, Russia offered Trump Admin yet another offramp to drop Ukraine.

Why is it that the man refuses to wear a proper suit and tie like any head of state would wear?

As Marco Rubio stated, we aren’t going to continue traveling around the word for what amounts to just talking with no intention of stopping this war; both sides must compromise if they want peace.
We have allowed their stupid games long enough; they want further war; they can have it (that includes Russia, neither side is innocent here) — and the devil take them for doing this to their people.
Good for our President to mention our (rather significant) contributions to winning WWII! The powers that be in Europe/Eurasia have gotten rather full of themselves, thinking they were the only actors in that. They have built a false mythology about themselves; it should be punctured.

The proposal put out by Trump was obviously the initial proposal meant to be negotiated down. It had a bulk of what they wanted territorial concessions, absolutely no nato, recognition of Crimea. Peacekeepers would be up for negotiation
I understand, but I don’t agree with the obsession to end it at the cost of ensuring it never really ends.
This war is the price of failing to sit down and draw peace promoting borders and establish non-belligerent security arrangements in 1991.
That’s decades of ill will and intransigence to unwind, and PVVP’s requirements are just; I only see future suffering as a consequence of forcing his hand now.
A second Versailles?
Germany had control of its pre-war territory taken from it and was given harsh reparations to pay. They were under restrictions as to military build-up.
This deal had none of that for Russia and even offered it some of its war goals (the eastern oblasts and Crimea, no NATO for Ukraine), at least the ones they have hinted at. How is this a ‘second Versailles’?
Russia is not doing well economically; even their own media are stating that the country may be going into recession. It has been resilient, but nothing lasts forever, and their government should be wise enough to understand that.
And the casualty rates are going to affect them going forward. Yes, yes, yes the Ukrainians have lost a lot of men…so have the Russians. They are both killing a lot of people that both can ill afford to lose, besides the fact that this does not have to be so — we have offered them a way out…and they do not take it; they seem to prefer the butchery.

The reality is, that WWI was knowingly and deliberately concluded on terms that would inevitably lead to further conflict; WWII was engineered, as was the First, as is the Third being sought this very moment.
We can only pretend that we can end this war at any arbitrary point if we ignore that Russia has Russophilic peoples that remain under UkroNazi threat; Odessa would be punished severely under a humiliated Ukrainian regime no matter the terms of any treaty we could impose.

That was well before the shelling and persecutions in the Donbas, and before the conclusion of a losing war that will be regarded as a humiliation by Ukraine.
Odessa would bear the brunt of that; both to revenge themselves, and to provoke Russia in hopes of another conflict with which to light off WWIII.

The U.S. offered the best deals to both parties that it could (to all parties really, the EU has deals to make w/ both Ukraine and Russia if a war ends).
Those deals were turned down because none of the other players wants to compromise (and at some point you have to take stock and wonder if not compromising is worth it; the price of this conflict is getting rather high for both parties).
So be it. I feel badly for the people getting killed, all sides. I’m sure their lives were valuable to them. I feel badly for the people of Europe who are getting squeezed by their governments, both in economic and social liberty ways.
But…at the end of the day, what they do with themselves is up to them. I certainly could care less for any of their leaders, all sides, who seem perfectly willing to grind their people into the dust just as they would have done 80 years ago if allowed to continue (and which we helped to stop — that is what our President is alluding to).
