As most of you know I have been traveling extensively. However, a strange thing happened today upon return through the airport.
Apparently, all of the test pilots for biometrics, real ID etc. are now linked and active. As I approached the passport control kiosk with my passport in hand, the gentleman said “welcome back, enjoy the rest of your day,” and that was it.
I stood there for a second, asked if he needed my passport and he said, “no, you’re good. Go on through.” It seems the facial recognition software is live. You no longer need to show your U.S. passport or any ID when arriving through U.S. international passport control.
Now, I should say I have never signed up for TSA pre-check, Fast Track, or any other kind of Global Travel authentication. I have always opted to just be a grey traveler with as little a footprint as possible. I reentered the U.S. the same way in February and needed to show the traditional passport, etc. However, this time in April it was totally different. There is no longer any paperwork or documentation needed. It actually, seemed a little weird.
I should also note the U.S. “opt-out” for facial scans is a little bit of a ruse; the reason is when you depart from a foreign country, destined to the USA, the facial recognition is mandatory. The U.S. Dept of Homeland Security, TSA and Border Control, require all countries to authenticate the U.S. destined traveler at the point of exit. It’s not optional in other countries, you either comply or you don’t get to come home to the USA.
Because it’s not optional in other countries, and because the database is connected to the U.S. border entry system, the fact you can opt-out of having your picture taken inside the USA is moot; your facial impression is already captured at your point of departure from the foreign country and shared with U.S. homeland security.
This appears to be how the interconnected systems are now recording travel. By the time you reach the U.S. entry point, they already have a database of your biometrics to match your entry. Cameras located facing toward the traveler as they approach the kiosk, cross reference the data and the passport control officer knows exactly what authorities for entry you carry as you approach. Showing documentation such as your passport is no longer needed.
As I mentioned this on my X-account, several people affirmed to have recently experienced the same entry process. Physical passports are no longer required regardless of whether you have opted-in to some pre-registration fast track travel system. You simply walk through the passport checkpoints now and collect your luggage.
I have seen this in several countries with varying degrees of technological advancement. However, it was usually when you are connecting from one flight to another within a singular international airport. This is different. This is the TSA/DHS database fully active with biometric, facial recognition scanning that you cannot avoid.
This process is obviously unavoidable now and given how much research CTH has done on the AI aspect to facial recognition (Palantir software), real id and enhanced biometrics that were being tested in various transportation hubs, it looks like the system is now fully active. April 5th was the universal deadline for “Real ID” rollout, and I’m guessing sometime around then was the trigger date for the live activation of the system I just experienced.
All of that said, this notification by me is not to raise any alarms, it is simply to raise awareness. The system is active, and you will likely experience it if you travel outside the USA and then reenter.
Everything seems cool, until you start to think about your biometric identity being attached to some form of travel approval. Owe the govt money, you don’t get to travel until the issue is resolved etc. You can see how this ‘slippery slope’ will likely play out. Additionally, it does not take a deep weeds thinker to expand the consideration when this DHS/TSA system is in the hands of a certain type of political ideology in charge of it (weaponizing it).

well, you could be a wiseguy and grow a mustache and goatee and wear big, square Elliot Gould sunglasses …
… but they’d ask you to take the glasses off
… and it’s self-defeating anyway
… if you don’t pass the screening and the camera doesn’t identify you, then you don’t come home
Or you could just keep getting plastic surgery and fillers and all other sorts of whatnot.
I guess all the guys who go to Thailand to become gals will have the minor inconvenience of showing their passport upon return to the USA.
Its not yet MoB, as it only appliesto flying.
Having never flown, in my 70 years, and no intention of, it doesn’t effect me.
But, if they put the system at the entrance to all stores, public events, maybe like minority report they put it in malls, etc. and then use it to target advertising right at you…
How did you get to the USA if you didn’t fly? You took a boat?
It has been in mountain “rural” area’s already, including grocery stores. If you are non observant you do not relalize.
Actually, part of that process is a visit to the US Embassy to update your records, including your passport.
Information provided by a person who went through that whole situation.
Nancy Pelosi will be permanently grounded, if your conjecture is accurate.
It’s coming.
Normal is not coming back. Jesus IS.
I actually have shirts with that printed on it from a Bible conference in Chicago 3 yrs ago.
There’s a song about that!
Jesus is coming soon, morning or night or noon
Many will meet their doom, trumpets will sound
All of the dead shall rise, righteous meet in the skies
Going where no one dies, heavenward bound
That song gave me a lot of comfort when my husband died almost 16 years ago.
Thanks for bringing it back to my mind.
And I hope He hurries!
Never fear.
He is always on time!
My great Grandfather said that, too.
surprised it took this long
Had Trump not been reelected, the Democrats would have used the courts to kick the can on Real ID again. Lack of enforcement means free travel by undocumented immigrants.
Conversely, we now have a governmental body micromanaging identity tracking on border crossings. Civil citizens should not have to pay the TSA premiums for ease of travel; it should just happen. I hate with a passion what TSA has done to travel in the name of security theatre.
A less liberty minded Uniparty would surely corrupt it given time. Debanking can quickly become travel restrictions. “I’m not restricting your speech” says the government, just restricting the freedom to assemble, hoping we won’t notice that other part of the First Amendment.
Just came back from traveling outside the country last night. Standard process in Boston at Logan. Passport checked and picture taken. Might not be live everywhere yet.
I suspect they are still taking pictures of those who do not have the biometric unique ID at an acceptable confidence level for positive ID to raise the confidence level to their set target. The basic question is, why aren’t we allowed to know the complete details of how the system works? Papers, please is something everyone understands. This is not that. If they treat the tool of identifying us in the same way as a nuclear secrets, what does that tell you?
I’m tired of all the “it’s for your own safety” BS.
“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Oh yeah, as if that does not sound like a threat itself.
Same with port of entry in cruise ship terminals.
first happened to me in nov of 2022 in port canaveral.
no notice, just got off the ship and there were ZERO human customs agents.
no option but to show your face in the scanner after getting back to U.S. to disembark.
BOOM it was over, and I was like “whoa, what just happenend”
Posted the same below, we encountered this 2020.
Ditto in LA…coming off a cruise ship. A photo of me from last year some time. ‘Thought it was strange until I finally put it together.

The panopticon is here.
There’s no escape from big brother.
But, the Lord’s panopticon is much more powerful.
He is all knowing and all seeing and all powerful and completely good.
Trust in the Lord.
Tell that to the J6’rs and all those throughout History who have ‘trusted’.
Those who are faithful til the end will be rewarded.
No one ever said that entrusting your life to God would be easy, or that the reward will be known in this life.
But for those who do trust God, the reward will be more than can be imagined by human mind, and it will be everlasting.

Meanwhile, what are people seeing about boarding trains and busses?
My GF just got back from 2 weeks in SE Asia and was surprised that they didn’t want to see her passport. She knew they took her picture but the guy said go on thru. Dulles Airport. She does have Real ID. I do too but my pic has never been taken.
You need a passport to enter “your own” government’s buildings, though.
That’s what YOU think. 😳
Wasn’t your picture taken when you got your ‘Real ID’?
No. It was at the DMV. They just checked several credentials including an original birth certificate.
They likely associated your drivers license photo with your Real ID file online and can call it up if they ever need it.

That is an awesome movie.
That is an awesome song.
People are starting to wish for 15 minutes of anonymity instead of 15 minutes of fame.
This was in use by Cruise Lines at least 5 years ago by Carnival Cruise Lines, when we returned to the Port of Miami as well as Princess Cruise Lines when were returned from a Pacific Cruise to the Port of Seattle.
Also, both Cruise Lines use it when we disembarked and re-embarked at each port of call.
NO ID nor passports were needed, once you embarked at the home port.
I even got some perks because of the V (for Veteran) that the State of TX puts on our Driver’s License and State ID’s made it into the data base. Remember the DMV’s from ALL states were also hooked into the TSA Data base about 20 years ago.
I don’t like that they take pictures of your license plate when you pass through a toll in some states. You get the bill months later with a pic of your plate. This started during COVID when they pulled the human worker. But once it started it doesn’t stop.
No privacy at all. They are tracking us coming and going. Now, it is at the airports. Oh, but it is all good for us they say to keep us safe.
Suppose President Trump forgot about a promise he made to… we the people?
“Today’s ceremony, however, has very special meaning because, today, we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C., and giving it back to you, the people.”
BTW, this promise was in President Trump’s 2017 Inauguration speech.
Many states went to unmanned toll booths nearly 15 years ago, with “TOLL TAGS” and taking license plate picture s of those who did not have a tag. The tolls for non-toll tag vehicles is nearly double.
The big Joke here in Dallas is that the drivers with tags have run up MILLIONS of Dollars worth of tools that have gone uncollected.
COVID had very little to do with this situation. It was strictly a cost cutting measure.
When I drive on the East coast through 4-5 states and have done so for years, it was not there before until COVID.
Do you really think all those amber signs posting essentially useless information aren’t capable of tracking specific travel?
I kept getting snail mail bills from the Illinois Tollway for a trip I never took, from So. Beloit, to O’Hare airport. Finally after so many letters I just paid the damned thing. They were threatening drivers license suspension….. Illinois threatening Wisconsin.
You didn’t take that trip but there’s a chance your car did. There was a device that you placed on your dashboard that provided information so you didn’t need to stop at the toll booth. You needed an account to have the device so maybe someone you know borrowed the device and didn’t tell you? NYS was using this for a decade or 2 as well as having toll collectors AND license plate readers.
I traveled a few times a week between Erie, PA and Dunkirk, NY and primarily used the NYS Thruway. The toll was $.65. When NYS did away with the toll collectors and you didn’t have an account, the toll was 4 X as much. The company running it for NYS sent you a snail mail bill but the company typically REFUSED to acknowledge receipt of payment. There was also a toll free telephone number that they absolutely refused to answer. A few times I ended up paying $10 + for what I had paid $.65 just a few years previous.
If you open an account with the company representing NYS, the annual fee was $25 PLUS the tolls. What used to be $.65 X 10 trips a year = $6.50 … is now $25/yr. +$2.50 X 10 trips =$50.
PLUS NYS doesn’t have to pay the toll collectors and their benefits.
Uh, no. No dashboard device needed. I had not traveled IL tollways in years. Moved back to WI a few years ago. Went down to IL for whatever reason, and found no tollbooths with any workers collecting their tax.
All were removed. Pictures taken. Bills in the mail with late charges.
Now you are forced to create an online account to pay the state of IL whatever they demand, or you get late charges that add up quickly, and they will not argue whether they are proper.
Drove from Minnesota to Texas last fall. Tolls on 35 through Kansas were still paid at the end of the line. I imagine that locals and truckers had E-Pass. Texas on the other had readers for license plates. So around Austin / San Antonio and north of Brownsville, the tolls are automated 100%. Received toll bills through snail mail a month after trip.
License plate information is being shared by the states, yet they won’t let the Feds know about illegal aliens. Even the ones committing crimes.
Sounds like central Florida, circa 1990s.
yeah, when I drove into NYC in 2017 there was a fee for entry by car
license plate scanner forwarded to my rental car company and they forwarded to me
$15 dollar entry, I paid it by mail
required no interaction on my part … except the payment
Keep your eye out near major intersections into and out of cities – many now have cameras mounted on power and light poles, both sides for both directions. Sometimes they are at the intersection, sometimes up to 100 yards away.
In places like Chicago…they use the ‘red light cameras’, for safety of course/s.
True since 2024, way up here in a small town in the N E GA mountains.

Good band. RIP Chris Cornell.
Lucky me I loathe flying. Publix has been scanning me for years now. I wondered how the bean counters felt about the investment made for that software when the mask BS went into effect.
In retrospect I wonder how many lists I made when I was singled out by the same software when I refused to wear a mask every time I went there (except the time I wore a cheesecloth bandana for grins) during the Bioweapon Tyranny.
… and my favorite covid mask ridiculer
… note also his clever solution against contaminating the rest of his groceries with bacteria
I woulda opted for the four barrel..😅
Is he transing into a Chevy Small Block? Now we’ll have to put oil drain pans in all the restrooms!
And some different “bearings” on the crankshaft.
passed motorcycle driver wearing no helmet but wearing the covid mask, cannot make it up.
I see bald old dudes on cycles all the time. The sun is cooking the top of their heads like a fat red beet. No eye protection as well, stupid. I am a rider myself, so I do not get it. Job security for dermatologists if nothing else.
An idiot like that on a motorcycle??
I never wore the masks except when I had to see a doctor.
I donned my black bandana with white skull and cross bones all over it. Wore it like a scarf until I entered the office, then pulled it up like a wild west stage coach robber.
They didn’t like that and tried to force the goverment approved, other useless mask. I told the lady no thanks, maybe I’ll come back after this craziness is behind us.
I was SO tempted to wear a jock strap, outside my pants, with a tee shirt saying “Haven’t you heard? COVID is a sexually transmitted disease!”
Never got up the courage to actually do it,…also wanted to put a manekin across my front bumper, with purple hair and a protest sign,…but didn’t do that, either.
I love the way you think!
Such a waste of 2 great ideas!
I saw a guy in Walmart wearing a Darth Vader helmet/mask.
I kept going into daycare with a US flag neck gaiter pulled up over my nose, sunglasses, and a ball cap and thought it will never be publicly acceptable to do this again like an armed bandit.
Actually, universal deadline for “Real ID” rollout is May 7. Still 2 weeks away.
yeah, and I saw a headline that they’re loosening standards in the mad rush, likely vetting late-sters with less vigor than usual … the people with little footprint that probably should be getting MORE scrutiny
slackers and homeless and “the disadvantaged” yada yada
Little known fact: Biden Admin passed a rule that any Afghans who entered the US following the Taliban’s takeover in 2021 are fast-tracked for for Real ID eligibility.
The justification for Real ID is the September Event, and according to the accepted September Event narrative Taliban-controlled Afghanistan was responsible for it
So what is the point of enhancing ID standards a quarter century later, when those standards are going to be compromised by not only incorporating the very people for whom the standards were allegedly put in place to keep out, but incorporated at lower standard?
It’s almost as if Real ID has nothing to do with airline security.
Does this mean the end of airport TSA lines is not far away?
Very funny.
No it will not.
There will still need to be somebody on hand to react to the ID Query as well as being a back-up to handle failed systems or failed ID Checks. Plus., there will be a reaction squad available of LEO’s (of some type) as well.
It also depends if physical checks are still require as this just replaces ID Part of the Process.
All my life, I have been an “only child”. Now, now I have a ‘big brother’?/s Where was he when I needed help changing a flat tire?/ss
What I am curious about…and have always gone on the premise: “If I can think it, it’s already being done”….I wonder about what kind of sensors are out there that can identify substances I am carrying in my purse…from Wrigley’s chewing gum, my Reece’s candy bar to prescription medicine? We know there is a gunpowder residue detector, so why not?
It depends on which lists you may be on…
I’m going to take a controversial stance here….there has been a strong theme among The Treehouse and Sundance against AI technology. Personally, I agree, it posses a major threat to liberty and I wish it was never created. However, it has been created and there is no 1st world county that wouldn’t use it. A major theme on this blog (which I love ) is “stop pretending”……..so let’s stop pretending that the most powerful country on earth is going to abandon AI. Now, with that realization….how do we control the inevitable?
The age old question.
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
History is less than rosy on possessing power of this sort. The Bible, even less so.
To entrust such power to mortal men, without requiring the commensurate virtue is foolish at best.
You don’t. This is too much power in the hands of any government. It will be abused and it was put in place to limit who can travel, who can associate with each other, who can work, etc.
Exactly! We should be focused on enforcing privacy laws that are already in effect and that means making Judges accountable via gargantuan fines and stiff jail terms.
We may need to push through another amendment to the Constitution to specifically cover electronic privacy and our images and whatnot.
We don’t.
We can only control our own responses.
Pretty much the same answer as for any other question about controlling any other person or entity.
The serenity prayer is a good place to start.
Now, with that realization….how do we control the inevitable?
What conceit is it that allows you to think we can have a hand in “controlling” it, Mike?
But I appreciate your reasoning and the point you’re making
WE will control it when World War 4 is fought with sticks and stones.
We all “convert” to islam & wear burkas, I can identify as a female in that religion right?
I’m not sure what you mean by “conceit”, however the idea that AI is just going to go away seems unrealistic….with that reality what is our next step?
My friend and I have an ongoing discussion re AI and robotics merging. By no coincident the Browning Machine Gun .50 cal (BMG 50) is the oldest serving US weapon. IMHO it could serve us long into the future. It is still legal to own for now in bolt and semi form. Future generations should snatch one up before they put the kibosh to them.
For near distances there are a number of very low tech, quiet, cheap ways to defeat them – but for distance you’re spot on.
May 2024, my wife and I walked into Key West International Airport, for a flight to NYC.
We were both stopped on line, told to stand in front of an DHS camera podium and photographed for Facial Recognition.
No questions, no answers, just Please Hold Still and Thank You. . .
So, my question is, since the government already has my facial recognition and all of personal information (Military, TS-SCI clearance, DNA, Prints, Driver’s License, Retired LE)
Why, must I provide anything other than a purchased ticket and my FACE, to board a flight, to anywhere. . .?
Where the TSA Agent tells me Thank You. . .
The TSA hasn’t asked to see boarding passes for the past year. Only IDs and always a face scan. The gate to board the plane is the only place that requires a boarding pass.
Interestingly enough, real IDs require a serious expression (no smiling for the picture.) I wonder why smiles trip up facial recognition technology? I guess if you walk around smiling all day you will not be recognized on facial scan technology.
I wonder if that’s why the guy that killed that CEO thought it was ok to lower his mask to smile at a girl?
I have a Real ID and I am smiling in my picture.
However, last year I obtained a passport for the very first time – and your “no smiling for the picture” statement is spot on when it comes to new and/or renewing passports.
You cannot smile for the passport photo as was common in the past.
You can make a slight, closed lip smile but cannot show teeth at all, and mouth must be completely closed.
And agreed on your thought that it (smiling in which teeth show or mouth is not completely closed), somehow interferes with facial recognition technology. Be interesting to explore why that is.
You couldn’t smile a toothy smile for a passport for at least the past twelve years.
I suspect “why that is” comes down to simple pattern matching … or not
If you smile for the photo, then it’s only useful to task if you walk around smiling all the time
Then it’ll match
If the photo is a smile, then everyday walking about with no expression won’t match the on-file photo
Many people have dental caps, dentures and implants….hmmm?
They are lying about how accurate it is. Many people have the same measurements, if that’s what you call it, to their facial features.
Yes, if I present myself as Clarion, the scan will prove it’s me, but when they try to use it to prove someone perpetrated a crime they will falsely ID people.
Bill of Rights, anyone…#4?
This applies only to law-abiding citizens I’m assuming. How for voting?
Voting?
Oh-walk right in…
You may be asked to help put up cardboard over the viewing windows, however.
Speaking of AI….

Everyone seems to be denying the “in His own image” aspect…. Evil???
thx, I’ve got a friend researching those topics, forwarded along
AI is a mirror into what humanity has posted on the Internet. Don’t be surprised if that resembles a bathroom stall at a truck stop sometimes. Besides, if we were smart, we would have told the AI not to eat the forbidden fruit.
I LOVE THIS…..GOD is in control.
The airlines haVe been scanning your passport and sharing it with US and foreign governments for quite awhile. This allows authorities on both sides to know who is coming and going before they even board a flight. Most countries are also taking your photo before entry. If you want go cross an ocean, this is the reality. I am global entry, so the US government already has my info. I experienced the same while going though customs at LAX last summer. Prior to that, we had to scan passports at kiosk for global entry. This facial recognition isn’t limited to government. Last year my face was my boarding pass, I didn’t have to show my ticket to get on the plane. AI will only accelerate the death of privacy. Government and corporate America will know every place we visit.
As of last week…
No more scanning passports for global entry at KIAH (Bush Int’l Houston). Quick facial scan, then you are either selected to just walk on thru or stop and present passport to agent.
Illegals/Criminals/Evil-doers are all ‘exempt’, as they ‘aid’ the end goal.
Because there is no presentation of documents or interaction with an inspector (risk) certain people will be able to travel invisibly. No longer a need for DOS to issue a passport (passports) under an alias.
That is a great point. I have read that there a couple of well known deep state people that walk around D.C. into buildings right past the guards w/o showing I.D. or being questioned, etc.
Cannot recall a name for an example, though & it is not bookmarked in any of my currently active devices.
Imported cargo, similar. Sophisticated checks, but if you join CTPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) your shipments are exempt from inspection.
I wonder what safeguards are in place so that smugglers do not sign up?
Also pay attention to the fact that the plan is to enable “automatically updating” your “journey pass” (see my post below).
That is being sold as a feature which can assist people who miss a connecting flight. Be that as it may, it also means a “journey pass” can be “updated” to prevent certain individuals from flying (and presumably taking trains or ships) if a facial scan identifies someone as a threat, stranding such persons wherever they happen to be at that time.
A very easily weaponized system which can and will be abused to harass, intimidate, and threaten dissenters.
The old fashioned way to harass was to have Interpol issue a red notice. Sigh, the old days.
Thought: If someone is in WITSEC, and already has done the electronic bru haha prior to WITSEC…somewhere in some silo is their biometric….meaning there is no really security then?
You also have all the “undercover” agents and Law Enforcement officers that their ‘data’ would have to be altered in order to stay “undercover”, right?
Which of course means that all of our data can be manipulated for whatever reason at any time, right!?!
Do we have a mechanism to check what data the government(or any other entity) has on us? Something akin to being able to check/verify your credit rating score?
Right now it’s only a few airport pairs. Sydney to LAX your bags can now be automatically checked through because LAX USCIS agents now have access to the X-rays done in Sydney. London Heathrow has just come online to Detroit and Chicago points of entry.
Baggage bypass. Airlines have pushed for it since the early 90s. xrays and scans are inferior to physical inspection for sure.
Actually I had that happen to me 2 years ago returning from Mexico to the US.
it was very weird but convenient. Convenient is the big word why we allow all this tech stuff to take over our lives. We’re trapped in the spiders web. Most people won’t give of Facebook. I’d personally love to toss it all and maybe I will at some point but I also rely on the convenience.
“Most people won’t give of Facebook.
If you have the fascistbook app, it sends everything to Meta. Just like Google and Apple know everything on the device.
Turning off ” location services” etc. only disables all the other apps from data.
When your driving down the street, unless it is in a Faraday bag, it is transmitting where it is from the Wi-Fi signals coming from the buildings your driving by.
“Privacy Guy” Rob Braxman on YT & Rumble has hundreds of hours of video on this subject.
I traveled in Korea, Thailand and Laos this year and they are far more advanced than in this country in processing travelers through security. Facial and fingerprint recording is in place.
This was in place last year as well … at least for some international travel I did last year
They act like they are protecting us. I don’t beleive them.
Kind of like how fences protect animals in a zoo?
I don’t trust Newsom at all .
LA recently released a smart city roadmap that envisions a highly digital and connected future. The plan envisions a city that is easy to get around without a car via a unified digital payment platform. This will give them full control over humanity, as they can then monitor every transaction, limit what you can spend, and even delete your funds at will. It is promoted as something that will make our lives easier. The truth is that it would mean total tyranny for all of humanity. Our digital funds would be connected to our digital ID, which will be connected to our vaccine status and social credit scores.
Imagine no longer being able to access your funds – when your digital ID shows that you haven’t received your umpteenth vaccine booster. Or envision how your spending would be limited as the result of posting something on Facebook that the government doesn’t like. Or worse: what if governments simply erase your bank account because you don’t agree with their policies?
This has been happening already with services like PayPal, which closed thousands of accounts because people engaged in activities that oppose tyranny.
Posted this a week or two ago. The source is the Guardian, which I will not link to.
“The days of fumbling around for your boarding pass or frantically checking in for a flight on the way to the airport could soon be over under imminent plans to overhaul the way we travel.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the UN body responsible for crafting airline policy, plans to dramatically shake up existing rules for airports and airlines through the introduction of a “digital travel credential”.
This would allow passengers to store passport information on their devices to be used for travel. The changes could come into effect within three years, according to the Times.
Currently, those flying must check in, which can be done online or at the airport upon arrival. They are then issued with a boarding pass with a barcode. This is scanned by a passenger at various points throughout the airport, including at the gate before boarding.
The changes would make boarding passes and the need to check in for flights obsolete. Instead, flyers will download a “journey pass” to their phone when they book a flight. The pass will be automatically updated if any changes are made to the booking.
Passengers will also be able to upload their passports to their phone and travel through airports using their face for verification. Instead of manually checking in, which would let airlines know who intends to board their flights, airlines will instead be alerted when passengers arrive at the airport and their face is scanned.
Valérie Viale, the director of product management at Amadeus, a travel technology company, told the Times that the changes were “the biggest in 50 years”. She said: “The last upgrade of great scale was the adoption of e-ticketing in the early 2000s. The industry has now decided it’s time to upgrade to modern systems that are more like what Amazon would use.”
Infrastructure upgrades at airports, including facial recognition technology and the ability to read a passport from a mobile device, would be needed for the plans to be carried out successfully.
“Many airline systems haven’t changed for more than 50 years because everything has to be consistent across the industry and interoperable,” said Viale.
The new technology could spark privacy concerns but Amadeus said it had developed a system where passengers’ details are wiped within 15 seconds of each contact with a “touchpoint” – such as the pre-security gates.
How delays and connecting flights are handled could also change. Under the technology being developed, passengers who miss connecting flights due to delays out of their control could automatically be sent a notification on their phones with details of their new onward flight. Their journey pass would automatically update and they would be allowed to board the new flight.
“At the moment airlines have systems that are very siloed,” Viale said. “There’s the reservation system that, when check-in opens, makes a handshake with a delivery system and says ‘here are my reservations, you can now deliver them’. In the future, it’ll be far more continuous and the journey pass will be dynamic.”
What is laid out in this article, is what Sundance experienced.
And if the “Digitial Travel Credential” seems to have a lot in common with the “Vaccine Passport” that is because they are identical.
I get it, along with millions who have suffered and we continue to hang in there to get through “just another day”.
That’s life.
Don’t like it much in the 21st century BUT God put me here for a reason and a season and I’m still figuring it out.
We will somehow get through all of this “digital un-privacy craziness”…
‘consistent across the industry…and interoperable’….UN making that NWO happen?
‘Interoperable’ was a Bush term from when 9/11 happened.
“their phone”
My phone seems to run out of battery power all too easily.
“The new technology could spark privacy concerns but Amadeus said it had developed a system where passengers’ details are wiped within 15 seconds of each contact with a “touchpoint” – such as the pre-security gates.”
SURE!
LOL
The cost of (luxurious?) ‘affordable’ airline travel…translation…cost of making airline travel available to the literal unwashed masses….
Whittling away at our Founding freedoms under the guise of safety, this garbage couple to DNA database capture are nothing but nextgen of “Your papers please”…both being massively unconstitutional. Won’t apply to lawbreakers, never does. Guessing I’ll be driving from here on out.
In before a biometric “safety” lock is standard on all new model automobiles.
They already have integrated wireless technology for telemetry tracking among other things. They can connect to 911 services already, need I elaborate further?
Drive a pre-Def diesel pickup with all the accoutrements I need…non issue. As far as cell tracking, don’t care about that as it is not “my person” as these new technologies are yet provides a terrific communication tool when needed.
An older motorcycle seems like a decent alternate choice for personal transport as well I think.Shopping for a 1980’s Japanese mid size air cooled twin as well!
Proud owner of a 1991 Dodge B350 MaxiWagon and a 1990 VW Cabriolet. No tailpipe checks and no worry about “Eng Serv” dash notices. I’m currently shopping for a 25 year old minivan.
I take your point on the cell phones, the problem is everyone around me made them a part of themselves. They can’t not have an instantaneous connection.
Just ‘around the block’, though…
A local police spokesman told a local TV station last year that some stolen cars had been recovered by analyzing data from the portable speed trackers you see mounted on trailers beside the road. The license plate camera was recording when the car passed, compared it to the data base, and issued an alert. An officer merely had to be there at the next time it passed.
I think he blabbed before he realized what he had done. I assume the smaller ones mounted on light poles have the same capabilities.
From my way back machine….some where in Palm Beach County, circa 1977 or so…my dear mom noted that on the back of the mile marker signs on I-95 north bound, there were little antennas…the mile marker signs have long been changed/upgraded/modernized…
My dear mother was way ahead of her times with her attitudes regarding health care and big brother (she too never had a brother, LOL).
My brother an I both have passports, both are engineers, both live in Alabama but not in the same city, and both are extremely identical twins.
This raises a question we have faced since high school: Can the people in charge tell which is which?
Some could, some could not.
Even our mother would see one or the other moving though a door, or from behind, and not tell which one she was calling out to, until face to face.
Might pose an interesting experiment.
Your an engineer. You know the answer.
“you’re” an engineer…
Thank you for you’re valuable contribution.
You might be chagrined if upon discovering that particular ‘weakness’, a hostile government might decide ‘disambiguate’ twins, by forcing one or the other or both to have some ‘modification’ to their face.
Just a simple “1” or “2” tattoo on their forehead would work. Nothing complicated.
Frightening thought as I think about that doctor in Nazi Germany, performing experiments on twins…
Isn’t technology wonderful?
As a BOOMER (76 yrs here) and my husband (80 yrs world traveler); we know how to do things, that does not require AI.
There is one thing the younger generations (including our children) will not ever understand, because they have never had to experience it in order to understand, what is the basics of life and human interaction on just being humans.
It’s kind of like learning the alphabet and numbers before writing your name or counting your toes.
AI may be wonderful for certain aspects of our worldwide conceptualization and future realities, however, let’s not get caught up into it with our basic living standards and life as an American.
Musings of a septuagenarian.
I tend to agree with you….it is a new and fancy tool to streamline data collection, however it will eliminate some jobs. I think youngsters embrace these things as no big deal, but will they survive when the grid goes down? I have personally witnessed psychological meltdowns of some 20 to 30 year olds who lost a phone and claimed that phone contained their whole life. Or the power went out and there was no internet for 2 whole days! They are addicted to tech and need to detox and use their human capabilities, but will they. That remains to be seen but I am hopeful human contact will still be a necessity and even enjoyable for most people. The pendulum will keep swinging until balance is achieved.
Tell me about it. I am in business, banking regulator, and one of the hardest skills to teach the youngans is how to have a conversation with a banker. It may be do to a lack of world experiences or not a firm grasp of the content, but good grief, relax and interact. Some times I will just open up a conversation and ask, how’s the family? That’s not AI.
Like many have , lets conquer common sense and natural stupidity before AI. But at the end of the day, its artificial.
‘young ones’ ‘may be due to’ lol
Grrrr!
You will also notice that the customs declaration is long gone. Disappeared without the required posting in the Federal Register. That’s how CBP and CDC tracked infected passengers. Happened right before covid. What a coincidence !
Doesn’t everyone just love all their time saving conveniences???? Everything was put in place to track all of us during the covid scamdemic. Nothing will ever be the same again and my kids will unfortunately bear the brunt of what is to come.
“As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists, who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny, ‘failed to take into account man’s almost infinite appetite for distractions.’ In 1984, Huxley added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we hate will ruin us. Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us. This book is about the possibility that Huxley, not Orwell, was right.”
-Neil Postman
.
It’s been going into place for decades.
.
As will you, until you ‘go’…
@sundance Well the trial run for all of this was done during the whole Chyna Virus lockdowns from March 2020. The government wanted to see how we would respond to it and all the kinks they needed to iron out of the system. This is all Agenda 21 and now Agenda 2030. 47 is just a speed bump in the road but the final destination is still going to happen.
“Additionally, it does not take a deep weeds thinker to expand the consideration when this DHS/TSA system is in the hands of a certain type of political ideology in charge of it (weaponizing it).”
Yes. Those who have been begging for student loan bailouts will be unaffected, as long as they show up to the next protest they have been assigned.
As if that’s not bad enough, I just today had an experience in which I was thinking something to myself, considering it, a little later thinking on it again and when I picked up my phone the “memory” picture shown was related to the person/event I was thinking about. At least the second time that has happened (last time it wasn’t a picture memory but an on-line shopping suggestion. Has happened to my sister, too.
Would not believe you, excepting it’s happened to me the past few months.
.
I fail to see what the issue is. ID has been connected or connectable for years. You don’t go anonymously in and out of the country at any port of entry. The vast majority of people complaining all happily walk around with their GPS trackers with their entire lives placed “in the cloud”, and do all kinds of electronic financial transactions.
Is there something more special about scanning your face than scanning your paper ID? The only message that comes through to me is visceral irrational “mark of the beast” nonsense, and/or speculative fears about “social credit scores”.
This ship has sailed.
Three decades ago, a buddy of mine used me as his test subject, asked me to hang out by the Washington Monument while he went to “check on some internet stuff in the West Wing”, and came back an hour later with surveillance pics and an accurate accounting of every person I’d chatted with and every cigarette I’d smoked…
Frankly, after nearly three decades of warning people (your cell phone and newer model vehicles and your social media internet profiles do a lot worse, not to mention the cameras “everywhere”), I can’t get too exercised.
.
Sounds like you have been successfully “conditioned.”
.
I think you misunderstood what I wrote.
.
.
I’ll try an analogy.
For roughly three decades. commencing BEFORE the Patriot Act, and long before Covid, nearly everyone blithely has been leaving the door to their house unlocked, and have been completely oblivious to the fact that someone regularly has been sneaking in, taking pictures of the inside, and going through and cataloguing, even stealing their stuff.
Suddenly, recently, it’s pointed out that the lock itself on the door, the lock they never before checked or even used, has been removed. And now they’re upset.
.
And yet, the thief still sucks at his job, and is getting worse with all that technology.
Based on the last several months, more like a ‘conditioner.’..
The issue is, they’re making it more visible to us. More apparent. The straitjacket is tightening.
Real ID must be amazing… I just saw Noem on TV saying not to be suspicious cat about it, it’s good for us and the country.
Thats good enough, right?
lets see how fast they can catch the guy who stole her purse. or what damage is done with the DHS access cards she carried.
I pray that we may rid ourselves of the Patriot Act in the near future. I am not fearful per se of security cameras, as private businesses and homes have almost every inch of the globe covered, but I do not like the deep state being able to trample the 4th amendment by searching databases without probable cause and a warrant. We are supposed to be safe from unwarranted searches of our Persons and Papers! As far as real ID, I had to get one in California two or three years ago, as our regular driver’s license is non-compliant with federal standards. The process was exactly the same as when I got one a dozen years ago at 18. Show utility or credit card bill (1st page only), birth certificate, social, passport or other form of ID to prove both citizenship and residency. No biometric scans or full fingerprint, just right thumb as when I was 18. The regular driver’s license is non-compliant because we give them out to illegals like candy (starting after I was 18 and got mine the first time), allow people to change their sex markers, and allow people to even change their name without meeting federal standards (Jack becomes jill because Jack “said so”, not because of a marriage certificate or government court order). Feds demanded a real ID, because Cali is now giving out the equivalent of fake IDs!
So, apperently the only resolution that presents itself, is do everything we can to insure the kind of people who would exploit and weoponise this system, never get near rhe levers of power.
p.s. Is it just a coincidence that COVID could stand for Certification Of Valid ID?
WHERE did they come up with “covid” anyway, when all previous virus’s were named after the location where they first developed…?
Snake venom code
There will be no ATM because there will be no cash, only your digital account. When you walk into a store the camera sees your face and knows your entire purchase history going back years, anticipates what you are there for (haven’t bought socks in a while) and tells you about the products on sale that you are likely there to buy. When you have selected your items to purchase, you bring them to the counter, the camera sees your face, you pass the tags past the scanner, and they are automatically paid for with your account. Your face is your credit card.
You walk into a Starbucks and the camera sees you, enters your regular order, and pays for it with your account. It also reminds you what is on your calendar that afternoon, to call your mother tonight, and to make an appointment with your dentist, which it will be happy to do for you. Alexa eyes and ears everywhere, including on every street corner. Traffic cams, street cams, doorbell cams, private security cams, all linked and recognizing your face.
It’s a brave new world, and it is barrelling right at us at warp speed Get crosswise with it, and you can no longer buy food (“I’m afraid I can no longer allow you to eat, Dave.”). Your friends and family can’t feed you because their food purchases are tracked. Buy too much and they get a visit from someone wanting to know what they are doing with it. Off grid? Forget it. The satellites see you and recognize your face.
We could stop it, if we have the will to. The question is, will 47 stop it? Not looking good.
There is only One Who can, and will, stop it.
Maranatha!
“The Omnipotent’ one ‘Created’ it. Why not face that reality?
Still waiting for Elon to audit NASA, CIA, Fed, FBI…..oh, leave those for someone else, time to return to my Tesla “space” link, iron dome, twitter X activities
Have we, globally, been given over to evil rulers because of our unrepented sins?
That’s the way to bet.
Congratulations.
You get it!
I used to get annoyed when I realize how much they have on the private la abiding citizen…but hop over the border and that’s just fine
Hopefully that is now fixed and we can send all the freeloading illegals back minus all the red tape!!!
These databases should be subjected to the wrath of the American peo_⅘@ple through their chosen proxy, the B-52.
