CBS 60-Minutes has been one of the most deliberately manipulated news and opinion programs in the past several years. They have been so over-the-top in their gaslighting and biased media coverage, that all credibility within the weekly broadcast TV show has been eviscerated.
Bill Owens has been the executive producer of the show since 2019, specifically responsible for increasing the bias and propaganda openly displayed. President Trump has sued 60-Minutes over their extremely manipulative editing of an interview with Kamala Harris in 2024. That lawsuit is ongoing.
Today, Bill Owens announced he is resigning as executive producer of the broadcast, citing his inability to continue making independent decisions about the subject matter presented on the broadcast.

“60 Minutes” has always been biased and deceptive. I remember way back in the 70’s they dodged a piece featuring my home town. Their producers and anchor approached the mayor, city council and families in the community for access, stating they wanted to do a positive program highlight what a great place to live our town was. The reality that aired was a complete hatchet job that was unrecognizable from both what they promised and the reality of the community.
Over the years I have seen that program try to destroy companies airing stories that flat out lied about everything. In many cases it took YEARS for companies to restore their reputations after “60 Minutes” got done with them. I wish I could remember who said this but I remember the CEO of a major employer in my area said, “You know you’re gonna have a really bad week when you arrive at the office on Monday and Mike Wallace and the “60 Minutes” crew are there.
Remember non-Union Sullair compressors with free vending machines for employees. As they wasted half of sodas or candy bars they put them on a simple charge like 5cents. Employees got mad then they unionized, all thx to 60 Minutes.
I worked at a brake manufacturer.
In my discussions with engineering on supplier nonconforming material they always prefaced discussion with “will this get me on 60 minutes?”

When the scales began falling from my eyes, I rationalized that 60 Minutes hadn’t always been so biased. The more I thought about it, the less convinced I became.
I have more or less decided that I had no reference point to compare against back then to make a judgement.
I was just a kid when Walter Kronkite was around, telling us that “that’s the way it is”, but doubt he was always telling the truth either.
I shared an office for a while with an older engineer who worked on the moon shots. He assisted the astronauts from the buildings to the capsule before launches. He said he saw Kronkite numerous times close up. He said he was amazing – he was always very drunk every time he saw him – but that he had an amazing ability to snap to attention when the record light came on and coherently and convincingly read his teleprompter, returning to his near-unconscious drunk state immediately after delivery.

I forget the MDs name and the report but soon after it came out hiw they’d fudged another gotcha story…then there was how Leslie Sawyer corrected Trump about Biden when she was totally wrong…too many incidents to list. Pure propaganda

I haven’t watched 60 Minutes for 25-30 years, and was normally doing something else when it came on. The episode that permanently turned me off was when they said that since the person they were reporting (Cars for Kids) would not talk to them, they were guilty of all charges.

My lovely wife begged me not to do it but, I watched the first segment of 60 Minutes this past Sunday regarding avian flu.
At one point, the black male moderator asked the ‘American doctor working in Canada’, Angela Rasmussen, how the Biden administration had handled this existential threat. She basically said that Biden wrongly hoped it wouldn’t be a problem.
The black moderator asked if the Trump administration was doing better. She replied, “The short answer is, No”. She then said something about the longer answer is we don’t know because of CDC firings and a CDC required media blackout. She complained she now has to use ‘encrypted’ methods to interact with CDC colleagues rather than just sending an email as in the past.
I immediately searched and found that the CDC had about 11,000 employees of which PDJT fired up to 750. Further, the fired employees were PROBATIONARY! These are likely the grunts hired in the last year+ of Biden’s installment. It is likely, these probationary employees were not strategists or thought leaders, just coffee fetchers and low level scientists.
The 60 minutes segment let this stand and sent an impression that PDJT fired critical CDC personnel to allow avian flu to run wild.
These people have no shame. Good bye 60 Minutes editor. Maybe, USAID personnel will come to the office and treat you with a ‘clap-out’. You deserve each other.

When my wife grew up in Cuba, she said they had two channels to watch. One was Fidel 24/7 propaganda and the other was Russian cartoons and movies. It’s not much different here.
In Britain, if you own a television (who doesn’t?) you are required by law to pay for a “television license”. A yearly fee of £174.50 ($231.50).
The government has ” detector vans”, lots of them, which wander hither and yon from John O’Groats in the North to Landsend in the South spying on the public to see who has a television but not the license.
Lawbreakers are then hauled up before the courts and fined or imprisoned, depending…possibly both.

It isn’t just Sixty Minutes. I have 2 talk radio (well, Ad radio shows) which I listen to in the car. Both give news at the top of the hour. One uses Fox, the other CBS. Last week I heard the CBS top of the hour report and it was dripping bias like iccicles in Alaska. I couldn’t believe the way of reporting, the use of adjectives and the innuendo. No wonder the country is full if useful idiots. I make sure to change stations at the too of the hour now. By the way, the same thing happened during content today.
