Then there are the ‘private’ equity retailers, many who go under and take your money with them…the average person does not stand a chance….

Looming tariffs have many questioning if they will spread to precious metals and smart money has selected the USA as its safe haven. Moreover, gold is selling at a premium in the US leading to an uptick in arbitrage. Gold has been on the rise since the outbreak of the Ukrainian war and we’ve seen a 10% rise in the past year alone. Now, the Bank of England is working quickly to move a large portion of its gold reserves from London to New York.
Gold prices have been about $20 lower per troy oz in London compared to New York. J.P. Morgan, for example, moved $4 billion in gold reserves from London to NYC this February. The central bank is especially eager to send its reserves off to America. London’s largest gold reserve currently holds 310 tonnes of gold or 420,000 gold bars. England only owns 5.4% of its gold holdings with major banking institutions and foreign central banks accounting for the bulk.
The London Bullion Market Associated stated that 150 tonnes of gold were shipped out to the Big Apple in January alone, with 100 tonnes of that coming directly from the Bank of England’s massive vaults. Transporting tangible assets is no easy feat, even for a central bank. The Bank of England stockpiles massive gold bars weighing 400 troy oz each. New York’s gold exchange only accepts smaller ingots of 100 oz, so the bullion must be sent to Swiss refiners to be melted and recast…”

I wish people would learn how endowments actually work. Harvard cannot simply sell off its endowments portfolio. Endowments are not funds Harvard can spend at will. Endowments have restrictions. The beneficiary gets the interest and even there restrictions apply. For example, The $10M John and Katherine Greentree professorship for Korean studies (fictional) – that means the interest from that $10M endowment can only be used for the stated purpose. Unless the terms of the endowment allows Harvard to sell it off because their tax exempt status is revoked they cannot touch it.
Unless Harvard’s wealthy donors gave them these funds without strings – which would be extremely surprising – Harvard does not have the choice to sell them.
I would imagine the interest is quite high on $53 Billion dollars. I’m sure that money isn’t allocated for one purpose within Harvard.

The irony is that if you happen to work for one of the endowed departments and your salary is fully covered, you still can’t make more than your peers – union rules!!! Endowment or not. So the staff vote for the unions then the same union keeps their salaries artificially low. Karma, I’m told is a %^&*(

Among the work funded by USAID was a 2015 study jointly conducted by Shi Zhengli, the infamous “bat lady” of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and the University of North Carolina researcher Ralph Baric, which used reverse genetics to insert a spike protein from a wild coronavirus capable of binding to a human receptor into the SARS-1 virus. The new lab-made virus was shown to bind to the human receptors and replicate “efficiently”, according to a House Foreign Affairs committee report.
The 2015 study — which the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists characterised as a “prototype” for making SARS-CoV-2 in a lab — was considered so dangerous that its authors did not upload the resulting sequence to GenBank, the NIH’s genetic research repository, for fear it might “fall into the wrong hands”, as Baric, its lead author, would later attest. But the study also omitted one other critical piece of information: USAID had provided funding for the study. Nature Medicine, the journal that published the paper, was forced to add a “Corrigendum” clarifying that the aid agency had in fact funded it.
Funding this kind of research in China added a whole other dimension of risk. One very important thing to realize about “judicial activism” is that the final solution to this problem will not come from “The Supreme Court.” Judges, in the end, will never rule to limit their own self-assumed but Unconstitutional(!) powers.
Instead, the final solution must come from Congress. Which, according to Article 3, is the sole architect of the entire system of “inferior Courts” that are to exist between the one and only(!) Court that the Constitution created.
And this, yes, is yet-another “separation of powers.” While the Supreme Court may exercise supreme Judiciary power over the inferior courts, the actual powers of them are limited to exactly two things: “cases,” and “controversies.” The SCOTUS was not given the power to define the architecture of the inferior Courts, nor to determine their membership nor anything else.
And also, the entire Court system was never granted any power of “consent and review.” Instead, the Courts simply assumed those powers to itself, in the tail end of the Marbury v. Madison decision, and no one at the time was prepared to oppose them. However, the Constitutional structure remains. Even the SCOTUS is limited to “cases and controversies,” and it was given no enforcement power. It Constitutionally has neither consent power nor review power nor enforcement power. It is not “the ruler of the other two Branches.” It is not “a Privy Council.”
Ultimately, the only final solution to this problem will be an Act or Acts of Congress. One such bill has been passed by the House and is sitting at the Senate. We need many more to come.

On Tuesday, a panel of independent experts that advises the CDC on its vaccine recommendations, called the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, weighed the pros and cons of moving the US away from a blanket recommendation that most people get an updated Covid-19 shot every year and toward a more nuanced, risk-based recommendation.
Under a risk-based recommendation, the CDC would continue to recommend two doses of Covid-19 vaccines each year for older adults — those over 65 — and to anyone with weakened immune function.
It may also consider recommending annual vaccination for adults and children who are at high risk of Covid-19 disease because they have a higher risk of being exposed to it. Those groups could include people like health-care workers or children in day care.

NEW: Homeland Securit whistleblowers say the border agency’s failure to fully comply with a federal DNA collection law for illegal entries “may have been a contributing factor” in Rachel Morin’s murder.
The suspect might have been identified months earlier, if the DNA law had been followed, the whistleblowers said.

Watched 60 minutes tonight (ugh). The first segment was regarding bird flu.
An ‘American scientist in Canada’, Angela Rasmussen, panned the biden administration response so, 60 Minutes has to ask what the Trump administration is doing. Her answer was basically, “I don’t know”, Trump has fired so many people at CDC and now I have to have conversations using encrypted apps rather than just using email.
Well, a quick search showed that CDC had around 11,000 employees when PDJT arrived and ,to date, about 750 PROBATIONARY employees have been RIFd. I highly doubt that American doctor in Canada is relying on new CDC employees.
These aholes know no bottom with their deceit and propaganda.
Please Rasmussen, stay in Canada.
