What I was referencing was the type of murder posted above. A young man in my extended family was murdered by someone like that. Out of nowhere, not premeditated. Drugs could have been a factor, but the killer had a long history of being out of control.
Deviant behavior can be attributed to abnormal psychology, societal influences, drugs, and genetics – so many things to consider.

Then there are the illegal immigrants from nations such as Afghanistan, Yemen, and other MENA — (“Middle Eastern and North African”) — Muslim countries. The immigration-friendly Migration Policy Institute estimates that there are between 50,000 and 200,000 illegal immigrants to the United States from MENA nations alone! While these are not failed states, they are nations that are often theocracies with values very different from our own. Today in Afghanistan, women have been virtually erased from public life by the Taliban, and are forbidden even from singing. In Yemen, according to the advocacy organization Human Rights Watch, though women have legal rights on paper, “[t]he authorities across Yemen are increasingly restricting women’s freedom of movement […] The restrictions have harmed women’s ability to access work, education, and health care, and are a form of discrimination.” In Algeria, 14% of women participate in the labor force, versus 67 per cent of men, and they are subject to Sharia law, which treats them unequally to men: “Algerian women are subject to the family code (Sharia law), a retrograde and patriarchal interpretation of Islamic law passed in 1984 by the Popular National Assembly, under the pressure of religious and conservative representatives. On the whole, laws under the family code serve to reinforce the domination of men over women, contradicting Article 29 of the Algerian constitution […]”
I could go on and on. The bottom line is that it is not racist or even ethnocentric, to object passionately to the “invasion” of the United States, or any Western country (or any country), by illegal immigrants. When you import people in large groups, you also import their cultures. We need to face the fact that the freedom, rule of law, relative peaceableness, and high level of civil society functioning, of Western nations, is an incredible achievement and an incredible gift. When you import millions of people who are not acculturated to these norms and rules, you also will import the reflexes and expectations of those who live in failed states, or under corrupt rulers, tyrannical or unequal laws, and oppressive theocracies. You simply cannot sustain the high level of functioning civil society, the peaceableness, rule of law, legal equality, etc, that characterize the West, under these conditions. And we need to stop being shy about saying so aloud.
You saw this in New York and Brooklyn by the end of 2024. Central American women and even small children, as I have described elsewhere, were being freely trafficked in the city’s subway system; women who spoke no English were forced, it appeared, to sell candy and beg for money all day long in subways, with unconscious or drugged babies strapped to their backs. Teenagers, working during school hours, had to man carts selling fruit and ices —- carts that appeared illegally in the bowels of subway stations, in a city that used to guard every legal pushcart permit, jealously and with abundant documentation.
In city parks, couples who were recent arrivals, laughed as their children did things that are considered impolite or inappropriate here, such as engaging in overt sexualized play. A lot of weird public sexuality took hold of the city, as there were no longer shared cultural mores. I witnessed at least one single man masturbating while stretched out on a park bench, looking at porn on his phone, quite oblivious to passers-by, including children. I had the misfortune of taking a cab with a recently arrived driver who was watching porn on his phone as he drove. Someone else posted a video of an immigrant couple apparently having intercourse while zipped up into a sleeping bag, in full daylight in Prospect Park. Foreign adult men stood creepily outside the skating rink in the same park, where kids skated, eyeing the young girls hungrily. People urinated on traffic medians, and defecated down alleyways, and spat in gutters.
It was just an avalanche of gross habits, which are not considered socially acceptable here, but that no social barriers now prevented; imagine them scaled by the tens of thousands.
Taking the subways had become terrifying. People shouted on subway cars, or fought with one another. A lot of men with Central American gang tattoos appeared. Aggression and violence seemed just below the surface. That wry New York City chit chat, that pleasant or whimsical interaction with the stranger, was gone, seemingly for good. We all sat, on our journeys, in tense apprehension, closed in on ourselves. No one gestured to anyone to go first; opening doors for one another was a memory of the past.
Then there was the noise. It became deafening. I have mentioned in “What is a Culture?”, the horror of being stuck on a subway car or on a train, surrounded by the deluge of people listening aloud to telenovelas or comedy shows on their phones, while using no headphones. There was no silence to be had in any public space any longer. This devolved into a genuine torment.

It’s #1 and #2. 3 is just an initial negotiation gambit. (His opponents always get upset by his opening offers. As Bongino has pointed out they still don’t understand his negotiation style a decade later.) The president would like there to be no tariffs at all. I heard him say that a year or so ago. So, he means #1. But there is a caveat. He wants targeted tariffs or the threat of them to cause #2. (He wants companies to come home and think twice about moving abroad again, due to the threat of tariffs.)
He wants factories in the US with no tariffs abroad. Think a moment about what that would do for the US economy.

If a country charges USA products coming into their country a tax/tariff, we will match it to gain parity
as their products come to the USA. It is a reciprocal tax to equalize costs and make it fair and equitable for both countries.
In addition, if a country does not allow USA products into their markets, we will tax/tariff their products
coming into the USA at very high rates until they allow our products to be sold into their country.
This is my basic understanding.
A little perspective on the stock market.
The Dow has roughly doubled in the past 5 years which is about a 14% annual return. Over the past 100 years the average annual return is about 8%.
Stocks were due for a correction and were recently trading at way above historic valuations. This sell off might have happened with or without tariffs anyways and, quite frankly, is healthy in the long run. Complacent investors can’t always assume they trade in one direction (up!).

Per the article in the SLO Tribune, it appeared to be a heartfelt, grassroots response coalescing across the state. Per the Craigslist ad, if you apply, you are hired!

Just as I mentioned the other day, it appears that China has banned (or threatened to ban) certain rare earth exports to the United States. That’s practically their only card, but it’s likely not as strong as they think it is. A few points that come to mind:
Rare earth minerals are not actually rare (despite their name). We have nearly all of them within the United States. At one time, we were the largest exporter, but of course, our wonderful legislators knocked that industry out of business. We need to ramp up production immediately. We also need to have processing capability. It should be a national emergency, and I don’t even care if they need to use federal funding to do it. This is one time where government investment will pay huge dividends.How incompetent do you need to be to think it’s a good idea to have near reliance on China for rare earth minerals? It’s beyond incompetent, it’s pure evil.I repeat my first point…rare earth minerals are not rare! Amazing how many times I hear people insisting that they’re rare, and China is the only source. There are a few that are more difficult to extract but likely present in Alaska. We also have rich deposits in Texas, Wyoming, California, etc.What China is really doing is trying to get the communist MSM and crooked politicians on their side, so they can start screeching.

Almost 11-weeks into the new Trump administration, the complete list of Epstein Island pedophiles, sex traffickers and blackmail targets has not been released to the public. The limited information released so far was public information years ago, for anyone paying attention back then.
We don’t need the names of everyone who ever attended a DC or business party where Epstein showed up to rub elbows with the rich and famous.
But the list of everyone who was ever on Pedo Island (or his ranch and other properties) should have already been released and those individuals should have already been arrested and facing criminal prosecution.
Personally, I don’t care whether people on that list are democrats, republicans or independents, or what high-society position they may hold. If they were party to the pedo-blackmail operations of Epstein and his sick friends, they should face the consequences immediately.
I can only think of one reason why this list hasn’t been released yet. I bet you can come up with the same reason.

Actually there is a client list because Wikileaks dumped it back in 2015-2016 along with many other documents , I’ve seen that list and many others who were paying attention back then are also aware of it .

To answer my own question I went back and found different sources that claimed Citizen Trump was on Epstein Island and they have all been debunked by various fact checking sites. Sort of an odd situation since I have found almost all these “fact checking” sites to be dubious.
BUT … since these “fact checking” sites are usually chomping at the bit to find anything bad, at all, about President Trump, I’ll guess he was never on Epstein Island.

In my previous comment this morning about the “Hands Off” protests scheduled in California for today at various county courthouses, I also had info from an ad in Craiglist from their employment ads – gigs – events – for people to be paid to attend these events because they will be selling various things – I also had part of an article from the San Luis Obispo “Tribune” about the thousands of SLO citizens that will be joining to hold hands around the courthouse.

In fact, I have frequently criticized some of this administration’s proposals as terrible, horrible, no good, very bad ideas, when I believe that they are.
However, when it comes to the tariff issue, which the above tweet is based on, I do not know that Trump is wrong. A good many very knowledgeable and thoughtful people think he is wrong; a good many very knowledgeable and thoughtful people think he is right. For a large variety of reasons.
The fact is, nobody knows exactly what will happen, not even President Trump.

Observations from the Saturday morning grocery stores: First, parking lot traffic was unusually light as was the in-store traffic.
Normally visits 2-3 stores and spend roughly a total of $400. This week I spent a total of $140, an all time low.
I simply refused to buy any product that was made or grown in Canada or the EU or any other country that seemed to have excessive tariffs and to be taking advantage of the USA. I noticed raised prices on Walmart’s produce from Mexico (.25 or so each item.)
I didn’t even realize it but I have been buying potatoes and oatmeal grown in Canada. Grrrrr. Going back to California or Idaho potatoes. One package I couldn’t tell and went to the manager but the store couldn’t tell either. You have to distinguish between distribution and growing. Since I want to help USA farmers, I will buy grown in USA only.
I said to the manager, if we’re going to have a trade war, let’s do it right!
I’m particularly down on Canada because Sirius satellite put a few talk shows on my car media and one is “Canada Talks.” Listening to these smug people with their snarky attitude toward President Trump and Howard Lutnick is very eye-opening. I heard them call President Trump a “monkey with a machine gun.” That’s it for me.
I posted the other day about not realizing that I had been purchasing tomatoes and potatoes from Canada! Won’t be making that mistake again. Why on earth do we need their potatoes when we have great ones from Idaho.
