I just read this, and there is no way that can be right. The study supposedly based this on interviews with 10,000 people. That would mean 667 of them had been at the scene of a mass shooting. It also said 2% of Americans have been injured in a mass shooting. So 200 out of 10,000 were both at and injured in a mass shooting. No way. They must have used crazily inappropriate techniques to gather and massage the data.
I’m assuming they asked a question that clued in people who *had* been near a shooting that “here’s a survey I need to take”.
Cuz there is No. Way. that that # of Americans have been anywhere near a “mass shooting”.

Or maybe they purposely went only to College Campuses or other places where there had been a recent mass shooting.
Whatever it is, it’s definitely phony.

What many people don’t understand about AI assistant systems is that the answers they provide are often highly biased because AI itself is just a data base that presents as fact the opinions and biases of whoever designed it.
As an example, I just typed into my DuckDuckGo search engine, “Are autopen signatures legal?” I specifically avoided asking anything about former president Biden or the controversy about the legality of his presidential pardons that were all autosigned. Neither did I ask this question specifically to the AI assistant on my answer page.
Nevertheless, that AI assistant gave me this unsolicited answer to my question:
“Yes, autopen signatures are legal and can be used for official documents, including presidential pardons, as there is no law that invalidates them. Legal experts agree that the Constitution does not require a handwritten signature for pardons to be effective.”
My AI assistant then cites the BBC and PBS as their “listed sources”
BBC and PBS are the sources? and I should believe they aren’t biased in any way?
Of course, legal experts do not agree on the legality of an autopen signature, (unless it has the contextual material to support its validity, for instance a cover letter from my lawyer or real estate broker saying that the document sent to me is provided with an autopen option for my convenience), and the slick wording of my AI assistant ‘informing’ me that” the Constitution does not require a handwritten signature for pardons to be effective,” when handwritten signatures were the only kind of signature that existed when the Constitution was written…and the rich irony that seems to be lost on my AI assistant is that the U.S. Constitution required the handwritten signatures of the 39 delegates to the constitutional convention in order for it to be ratified!

The arguement should be that AI can never be trusted, and that at every step a Human must make the final dicision, even when AI approached Sci Fi levels.
The expression is: “GIGO = Garbage In, Garbage Out.”
These are a very intriguing class of computer algorithms, albeit too resource-intensive now. (The Chinese published an important optimization recently, as open source!)
However, they are not “intelligent.” Instead, they are very much “programmed,” albeit in an indirect way. (They refer to the process, somewhat misleadingly, as “training.”)
Misleading is an understatement. Programmer biases imprinted on an AI info system are called training the same way liberal professor biases are imprinted on students at Ivy League schools is called higher education.

Thinking about this California judge who said that the Trump administration could not lift the TPS status of a cuoe hundred thousand Venezuelan and wondering about a bond.
The federal government has huge costs every day that these people stay here. Shouldn’t they post a bond to cover that?
Alternatively, the named parties could post a bond and the TRO would apply to them. This would address the issue of nationwide injunctions.

Mike Johnson has been known to pass legislation, omnibus spending legislation, with help from the Dems. So, when Anna Paulina Luna wanted a vote-from-home rule for mothers with newborns, she saw nothing wrong with asking the Dems to help her as well. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
Is it necessary for the House to now do nothing for the rest of the week? No. The SAVE Act can be voted on without a special rule. And when Sen. Charles Grassley’s bill to lasso rogue judges is sent over from the Senate, as soon as Thursday if he holds a hearing tomorrow, then Friday the House could simply vote to pass that bill as written. Then everyone could go home for the weekend happy, and President Trump could have a big signing ceremony presser.
