American Heart Association Retracts Opposition To Barring Soda, Candy From Food Stamps

A lobbyist for the American Heart Association turned heads last week when he asked Texas Republicans not to exclude soda, ultra-processed deserts, and candy from the list of items that can be bought with food stamps, despite the fact that the medical group has for years warned that such foods cause heart disease.
But now, AHA has retracted the testimony, with spokesman Steve Weiss telling The Daily Wire that “The Association’s position on Texas Senate Bill 379 was miscommunicated during the TX Senate Health and Human Services Committee hearing last week. The Association is not opposed to the bill, which would restrict purchases of sugary drinks and certain other unhealthy foods within the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).”
“The miscommunication at the hearing from our representative, who is based in Texas, was unfortunate. We have corrected the record and worked to ensure this will not happen again,” Weiss said via email. “The Association remains committed to increasing the consumption of healthy food and decreasing the consumption of sugary drinks across our mission-critical work in scientific research, public policy and public awareness.”
He would not explain how the organization’s lobbyist managed to inadvertently register in advance specifically to testify against the bill, travel to the state capitol, and provide written and oral testimony that was the exact opposite of the organization’s mission. According to the Texas committee’s list of registered witnesses, Puente was joined by Walmart in opposing the law, while representatives from the Texas Radiological Society, Texas Medical Association, Make Texans Healthy Again, and End Chronic Disease showed up to support it.
So their position on Seed Oils is bunk as well?

GMO wheat is modified to be resistent to Glyphosate, an herbicide (weed killer). Hence, copious amounts of glyphosate is used on US grown GMO wheat. I suspect that a lot of “gluten allergies” are actually reactions to the glyphosate rather than gluten.
Glyphosate is banned in Italy, and I believe all of Europe.
I’ve had several people tell me that they can eat wheat products in Europe, but not in the US.

It would be good for anyone with an interest in their own health. Caution though about “organic” labels – they are allowed to use various toxic substances up to a relatively short period of time before planting. Many of said substances stay in the soil throughout the growing season, including glyphosate – which I know from personal experience related to contaminated hay lingers for years.
ps. Bean plants are especially susceptible to glyphosate – it’s a good “canary in a coal mine” plant to use to test an area. It cause medium to severe mutation in the leaves of plants (tomato plants are also very susceptible).

Exactly, and I’m frustrated he is nor doing this yet. He should just make a clear public statement that in the absence of any action by the Congress or the SCOTUS to reel these criminal judges in, he will ignore their rulings as they clearly violate the Constitution.

What they are saying here, that is the elephant in the room, is that there are 5 territories within Ukraine that are filled with Russian speaking people, that have declared over and over again that they wish to be controlled by Russia.
Russia has formerly welcomed them into the Russian Federation.

We CANNOT allow the UN to draw us into conflict with Russia by proxy of Ukraine. The elephant in the room is the UN beast directing the provocations of their previously installed dictator Z in Ukraine.
Also while Putin is doing what he can to have good relations with the U.S. he gave a speech yesterday or the previous day to a Russian business/industry group. Some key points of the speech:
In Putin’s opinion, the U.S. and Europe have no intention of ever lifting the sanctions. In fact he believes they will try to enforce more sanctions in perpetuity.
Putin said that is OK because no matter what they do with sanctions, even if they lift them entirely, we are moving on with our reforms and divesting ourselves from the West.
If the U.S. eventually decides that they want to invest in business in Russia they are welcome to do so but it will be on Russia’s terms. If any of the businesses that left Russia after the start of the conflict wish to return they should understand that those businesses have now been replaced with Russian counterparts and those businesses will be protected.
The West has proven over and over that they are agreement incapable and we will not again make the mistake of allowing their influence to affect our policies.
The way forward for countries who desire non interference from the West is BRICS.
The SMO will continue until our goals are met and all of the West’s antics will not stop that.
So the current administration can talk about peace while supplying intel and war material to Ukraine all they want. Putin has made Russia’s position clear time after time. It is too bad that the U.S. does not make their positions clear and prefers smoke and mirrors.
I’m not surprised that Putin takes that position in order to preserve Russian sovereignty. After all, President Trump, however fair and pragmatic he may be, represents an anomaly or blip, if you will, in the USA’s long march toward UN’s New/One World reset.

I am pretty sure that Trump understands Russia’s position very well. I think it is possible that what Trump actually wants is assurances from Putin that Russia will not come to the defense of Iran when, not if, the U.S. attacks Iran. I don’t know if he will get such assurances or not.
Witkoff talks about the Carrot and Stick approach. With his latest speech Putin just destroyed the stick and let the West know what they can do with their carrot.
Putin, for all his faults, is rational to talk to and doesn’t change his mind every five minutes, doesn’t give false promises, is willing to listen and doesn’t run around ranting like a two year old at just about everything. Can you trust him? No and he’s done awful things, but he does seem to base his decisions on a love and protection of his country. Give him some credit for that at least.

Look closely. The “concern” is based on the truth that the concession is necessary, and inevitable. Yes, it is an accurate read… I lived and worked in the Ukraine for 8 months back in 1999…
Most of the Ukrainian people speak the Russian language and consider themselves Russians. The Ukraine was part of Russia for several hundred years until the break-up of the USSR, and the Ukrainian people simply want to rejoin “Mother Russia”…
Putin is not the bad guy here… He simply was trying to help the Ukrainians do what they wanted to do…

In the United States, our findings indicate, the majority does not rule—at least not in the causal sense of actually determining policy outcomes.
When a majority of citizens disagrees with economic elites or with organized interests, they generally lose. Ya know, it’s easy to see what they’ve done as Modern Warfare.
These WEFers, Deep Staters, the billionaires, the oligarchs, what they are doing here is not recognizing a nation’s sovereignty at all.
This is the bottom line- in a nutshell.
Every nation has the right to run their own country as they wish, we’re all, as a whole, trying to get along and create good working relationships. THIS is the plan..
BUT there is this band of war fighters, no different than the Taliban only they are wildly rich and wear business suits, they are out there working every bit as hard to destroy and take over what sovereign nations are trying to do in their own country.
Whether it is feral men from the Middle East with weapons, or feral men sharped dressed in business suits with billions to use as weapons, the end game is every bit the same as far as destruction of a sovereign nation.
Yet the masses are not seeing it this way because it’s not a bloody and ugly ‘war’.
The problem here really at the roots is the complete lack of respect, disregard for the rule of law and sovereignty of nations- an attack upon your nation is an attack upon your nation- whether it’s dropped from the sky and explodes OR it comes in the form of a Soros funded Color Revolution, OR organized attacks upon Tesla, or with a funded LGTBQ AGENDA to steal our kids and sterilize them— it’s ALL attacks, it’s ALL modern warfare.

I don’t understand why each departing (voted out!! ) Administration is not stripped of these security clearances as they all walk out the door before the Inauguration of the new incoming President.
This seems like common sense to me.
The former administration has been voted out, retired from their roles, so it’s seems obvious to me that anything that would enable them to ‘remain active’ in their former role- they should be stripped of that as a matter of routine policy.
I don’t understand why all these people that we know are criminals still had these security clearances at this late date.

First of all, seniors and the disabled are getting next to nothing in SNAP. At least in my community.
SNAP. absolutely should not be used for junk food/soda. No question full stop.
I work in an emergency food pantry and we are swamped. People can come to us for meat, produce and canned food. We don’tt have a lot but if you are actually hungry we have and give away plenty.
If our clients were able to use the SNAP benefits only for staples and diapers, they would absolutely be able to get most of their diets for free. Seniors and the disabled need a little more than 30 bucks per month. That is ridiculous.
If the taxpayers are paying for almost all your food it seems the least you could do is buy your own booze and junk food.
It’s pretty disgusting that folks can use their SNAP card to buy things like Margarita Mix in the grocery.

He took off from JFK, after take off, he felt something was not right, he kept checking the systems, nothing blinking red but still something not right. He puts the plane down at the half way point as an emergency landing, all the way he was on the radio telling HQ that something is off, the conversation gets very heated, very very tough words etc.
Another plane is sent to pick up the passengers and he stays with the plane until next day when a freighter crew comes in, the engines are removed and loaded into the freighter Long story short, the engines are taken apart and examined, a fracture is detected in one of the engines. No need to explain the potential consequences of that !

it’s not a novel idea I am submitting. Many people are looking at this solution. It does not prevent fraud (obviously, FTX managed to defraud the largest heist in the history of heists), but what it does do: you can inspect the Blockchain quite efficiently and there is proof of tracibility. Everything from who made the vote, the time of the vote and for whom the vote is cast and where the vote was made. Applying Blockchain to ever single vote “card” to give it a term, means once the “card” is created, it forever remains on an immutable ledger. Again this does not prevent fraud, but what it does is allows the ledger to be inspected easily and apply well known law enforcement and accounting method to detect fraud.
right now, our voting “system” is much like USAID. There is no easy way and in some cases, it is quite impossible to audit the status of the money…or the vote. Each state, would of course have to agree to a common block chain and also agree to the rules about how each vote “card” is managed, and tracked. I do not think this would violate the federalism relationship between the central state and sovereign states. Nor do I believe it would cause problems with electoral college rules, as unfair as they are now.
I’ve not taken a LOT of time to think about this, so don’t receive this as my full unconditional support. It will take a bit of time to get all of the concerns and issues sorted out. yes, many people were of that understanding …that one could hide crypto. by design it is very hard to do this, but not impossible. simple axiom applies: any technology created by humans can be hacked by humans.
there are all sorts of ways to conceal and obfuscate crypto. third party transactions. “mixer/blenders”, and some other ways to do it. this is the domain of drug traffickers, money launderers and USAID type orgs…yes, that too. (in fact USAID did use crypto to transfer …I’ll have to wait for DOGE analysis and the new FBI to make a judgement on exactly that that was and why.)
most legitimate exchanges require KYC “know your customer” regulations. This means in order to transfer (in or out from or into fiat) you MUST submit verifiable identification, your bank information. The exhanges that are most trusted that mitigate against fraud and obuscation are registered and regulated in the US. However, there are dozens of other exchanges in other nation states that have very loose rules, some non existent. (it not a good idea to temp fate and “invest” with these exchanges as history has proven with MT GOT, FTX to name the top big two fraud exchanges, but also recently there was a exchange that was hacked because it lacked even basic security perimiter defense and detection (words still out if this was intentional!). And this has had a great impact on crypto….it has refined the rules and the big winners have created very hardened rules. It’s virtually impossible to conceal you identity with Coinbase, Gemini, binance.us (emphasis on the .us part!), and some others that I don’t mention simply because they are not well capitalized. And of course, CME, but that is mostly aimed at professionally options (futures) traders. Basically, these exchanges have transformed quite a bit and made it safer and also more transparent about who own anything, how they transact and where funds are deposited, withdrawn. Yes, the IRS and homeland security and the FBI have direct access to these exchanges, just as they do to classic traditional exchanges and banks.
what was once a wild wild west and a fairly easy way to hide what you own and how you do it is very hard to do anymore. But not impossible. There are estimates that of the total crypto held, approximately 25 percent of it has unknown ownership. Some of this is due to “escrow” accounts that were charted when a particular crypto was first orginated. Some of it is seized assets, or funds under investigation. But most of it circulates in a very complex mixer that is basically churning transactions, across the entire block chain from one asset to another, all the time, endlessly. This makes transparency difficult, but not impossible. It is only a matter of time before law enforcement determines a means to target these mixer accounts and force exchanges to either divulge ownership or simply force them to deny the transaction from specific block chain addresses. these are things that we can expect to happen. It will however, have a significant impact on the value and price volatility of crypto as a whole, as we have seen with ftc, mt got and other fraud. Once you take a chunk of crypto out of “the market”, the sentiment (this is a sentiment/speculative market), people race to get out and sell, or stop buying…in both cases, prices drop rapidly. We have seen this many times. It will happen again. And I look forward to it. The block chain itself is not the problem…it is the rules that exchanges are not willing to agree upon for transparency. Some nation states have a very open policy, and you can probably guess who those countries might be…and some that might surprise. The simple Know your customer rules, also means these rogue exchanges face certain investigations from a growing pressure by wall Street that has at the moment entered the embryonic phase to start trading ETF’s and other trading vehicles based on crypto..They will demand market security and risk measures to ensure some degree of confidence that some lawless rogue exchange cannot for instance exploit the 51 percent vulnerability. ?
Yes, I am slowly starting to understand the BC and crypto eco system. It’s very dynamic. I’m not convinced this is a good place to invest. it’s above my risk appetite, but it is interesting.
for example..there is a serious efforts to replace the swift cross border transaction system with XRPL. (also called ripple). it’s more efficient, cost effective (very low fees), and it has a block chain basis, so it makes the transactions easy to audit and verify. Swift is quite ancient by comparison and is open to vulnerabilties that are hard to patch up. A miracle we have no seen swift attacked and exploited. (perhaps it does happen, and the US doesn’t comment about it….similar to how the banking industry does not like to talk about hacked banking accounts, or credit card fraud…same thing…leaves you wondering, why they don’t publish). Anyway, there is still much more to learn about BC and crypto. I’m not persuaded that the US gov’t can be trusted to hold Bitcoin. For one, the USG has proven incapable of promises (lock box, gore and others wrt to social security being a perfect example…cannot balance a budget and has not event tried)…Also bitcoin is highly volatile. In the last 10 years, there have been at least 5 major price correction when Bitcoin dropped on average 31 percent. I’m not convinced we should be using a highly volatile crypto coin as a means of value to “proper” up the dollar. A better way would be to index crypto, diversify it, and then stake it to the dollar. That makes it far less volatile. but I think the major trading banks and financial trading institutions would not want that. the main feature of ETF’s is to exploit the liquidity of these highly volatile alt coins.
I am looking at a very ETF potentials as part of my portfolio. a minor consideration…less than 5 percent.

Tucker Carlson has just released a wide-ranging new interview with Trump’s Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, who has also been deeply involved in efforts for the peaceful settlement of the Ukraine war.
Witkoff has been active in the Saudi hosted talks between the US and Russia, as well as between the US and Ukraine, with more rounds of talks set for Monday. Perhaps the most interesting part of the interview came when Witkoff addressed the key, central issue to achieving the end of the war.
The US top envoy described the question of the fate of the annexed territories in Ukraine’s east as “an elephant in the room” that “no one wants to talk about.
“They’re Russian-speaking. There have been referendums where the overwhelming majority of the people have indicated that they want to be under Russian rule,” Witkoff told Carlson.
Witkoff admitted that militarily and politically, Moscow now exercises full control over the bulk of these territories, as Ukraine forces continue to be steadily retreating from their remaining holdouts in Donetsk.
Putin had first described in February 2022 that the people of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions are “our citizens forever” – and soon after a series of referendums resulted in their absorption into the Russian Federation.
Witkoff in the interview actually struggled to identify or say the names of the territories, which he numbered at five – noting that Crimea remains hotly disputed as well.
“When that gets settled… this has always been the issue” – Witkoff continued, describing that this is the question likely to finally resolve the war. He asked, “Will the world acknowledge that those are Russian territories?”
Trump officials, behind closed doors at least, have probably fully admitted that Ukraine is never getting these territories back. There have been reports that the White House is recently pressuring Kiev to be open to territorial concessions.
Zelensky has of course remained resistant to this, but how long can he hold out?

Without the SCOTUS which, due to the STUPIDLY nominated Roberts and Barrett NON-conservatives who recently sided with the left in a decision on a district court obstruction of Trump that the dissenters called “stunning” because they didn’t simply point out to the DISTRICT court created by the LEGISLATIVE branch, CONgress, that it was out of its realm of control with a NATIONAL ruling affecting the head of the EXECUTIVE branch and that only the SCOTUS has national control, you can’t go to the SCOTUS.
And House impeachments of obstructionist judges in the leftist-packed district courts are as ineffective as strongly worded letters without their removal which won’t happen because that requires a 2/3 vote in the Senate.
