I, for one, would like to see where the quote about tipping Guam over originated and whether it’s true? On the 1st page of this thread today someone posted a quote from Casey DeSantis where she, in turn, quoted a “Yogi-ism” about taking the fork in the road. Some people took her seriously so, right there, is the beginning of myth about how stupid Casey DeSantis supposedly is.
A little time spent searching will reveal the source and details of the origin, I dont discredit many site links here but we are in a time where there is alot of clickbait that generates revenue or trying to gain to your private information.

The quote about tipping Guam over is exactly the kind of thing I would have said to make my point. I don’t know Hank Johnson but I would have assumed he was wildly exaggerating to make his point. Someone who actually believes an island will tip over would have to be of such low IQ that they would probably belong in an assisted living facility.

I saw the follow up interviews/questions over the next few days. Rep. Johnson actually thought Guam would capsize. He was relived to learn that it could not happen.
Apparently he thinks islands float instead of being actual land that water has surrounded? How can someone so ignorant even be left alone in a house without burning it down? How is he able to even walk down a street without doing something so stupid it would kill him or others around him? That is scary.

Johnson was being literal, there was no hint of sarcasm or hyperbole. He tried to mitigate the damage later, by claiming he made a joke, after being widely lambasted and ridiculed.

However, the prohibition is contained in the Law “On the Legal Regime of Martial Law.” This also applied to parliamentary elections, which were supposed to take place on October 29 of the same year. Presidential elections were planned for the end of March 2024.

Bottom line is Canada has far more rare-earth deposits than all of Russia, Ukraine and Poland combined.
There is no shortage of ‘rare’ earths – there is a shortage of refineries to process the metals. Also, regarding these items now called ‘rare’ it would be more honest to simply acknowledge that though they are present all over the earth, in sizeable deposits not so much.
Also, items now called ‘rare’ are simply rare because of lack of profitability to mine and process these minerals. For example – there were very nice, and profitable tungsten mines in the United States which eventually they all shut down because China flooded the market of tungsten to the point it was no longer profitable for the US mines to operate. It’s how China corners the market, and why President Trump realized the importance of keeping the US steel mills open and operating.

There are not enough CNC machines to produce what is needed. Skilled lathe and mill operators will be needed for critical machine parts production. Such things as set up and operation of gear hobbing machines are an art unto themselves. Systems engineering people just to set up a factory among other skills will be needed.
It is not a pledge … it is the offer of a LOAN … you know as in the UK has to be paid back.

Have it about girls and women across all grades/educational levels supporting each other and calling out the NCAA for not standing up for them. Young women in college standing up for middle school and high school female athletes not having to compete with boys! The younger girls getting more aware and active about what colleges are standing up for female athletes, so as they prepare themselves to apply for college at some point, those will be the places hopefully getting the interest of top athletes. There used to be a college guide from one of the weekly newsmagazines, I think it was Business Week – they should have a section on where the NCAA is failing students.
A-Holes like Barack Obama getting all giddy over their brackets, blah blah blah – for March Madness basketball – but think about it, when Obama was President, he was the one who put in that bathroom law and punished North Carolina’s refusal to comply with that by withholding “federal tax money” from the University of North Carolina.

We are, after all, “the melting-pot nation,” in which many different languages – Spanish, French, Italian, German – are very routinely spoken. I think that we still know how to make reasonable accommodation . . . on a case-wise basis. We can employ translators, to make things easier.
City council meetings and all business in some south Texas cities are conducted in Spanish.
Carry your translator when you go.
Why should we spend the money to do that?
It is incredibly useful to facilitate all learning English. India having doen this for decades, has helped them immensely. I do not think it means other languages are not welcome, just that English as a second language is universally taught.
Biggest mistake this country made was press 2 for Spanish. Prove me wrong please. I will just ask you to look at the downfall of American public schools and if you don’t think this is one of the major issues why kids can’t read on an eighth grade level. Because they can’t read, write or speak the language.
