The portion that Russia “keeps” has already voted in referendums (with international observers) to be forever a part of Russia. Crimea in 2014. Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, and Zaporozhye in 2023.
Vladimir Putin and Sergey Lavrov have already stated more than once that those territories are not negotiable.
Yes, they want all the land down to Odessa. Ukraine will then be landlocked, suckers.
If they want to take something to the sea for export (or pick something up for import), they’ll have to ask for permission, they’ll have to pay a fee, and they’ll be subject to complete inspection and surveillance.

I think this is the issue: The Little Man has been so accustomed to being feted, lauded, cooed over by the EU potentates. He’s been on magazine covers, he’s been hugged and kissed, can afford luxury homes and goods. So he believes he’s really someone special. He’s been led to believe he’ll be propped up by these fawning EU types and the Libby media indefinitely.
It reminds me of the wooden board that Mussolini used to prop up his arm as he rode through the town in Italy in those innumerable parades – so amazing how he kept his arm up all that time but it was actually a fake arm on a board (one of our GI’s came across it).
This is the oddest (maybe not the first, but it is most odd) situation in which the leader of an invaded country carries on as a spectator to his own country’s destruction and massive loss of life. And, the etiquette dynamic is otherwordly.
Vance was out of his element in sparring this way; clearly, he doesn’t have the gift. Trump, though was forced to jump in, and while Z deserved his rebuke, the fact remains that many people are going to be lost as the weeks roll on.
Vance would have been better off simply stating in plain English that Ukraine is beholden to the US for its survival, like it or leave it, and conditioning a cease fire on anything is a plain non-starter. Sparring over “thank you” is junior high. Yet, here the world stands with a US president at odds with a maverick national leader who is at war with a nuclear power.
Makes for great TV, indeed. However, a cease fire could have been brokered had a spat not ensued. Congrats VP.
Can it be worked out? Yes. Trump will bring this in. But, what could have been near pro forma will take longer, and time equals loss of life. Not a celebration event.
Absolutely shorter. Now PJT calls Putin and works out a ceasefire and then TELLS Zman when it will start and lets him know that if he so much as fires a single bullet he is on his own. 1 week later Zman is summoned to Saudi and told what the peace terms will be. End of war. End of Z

Plus if Zelensky would actually win such conditions, as Russia surrendering all that territory and paying reparations (to go down the toilet also) and rebuilding Ukraine, who is to say that there would not be a continuing “underground” war against the Russians, ceaseless guerilla warfare, erupting at some point into all-out war again – kind of like a lithium battery plant fire that keeps flaring up and never quite goes away.
All American Patriots relished and applauded the meeting. We also knew that our fearless leader was displaying the real Z dictator. AND, we finally have a true Patriot for a President who truly loves America. I thought I might not see this in my lifetime.

So the war in Ukraine has to run for 1 or 2 or 3 more years, until even the Nazi Ukrainians are dead or sick of war.

Exactly. President Putin has shown great restraint by allowing “red line” after red line to be crossed (NATO expansion), but a hostile Ukraine joining NATO will not be tolerated. We all knew that. We’ve known it since Obama was in the WH and perhaps even before that.
Not saying Putin is a good person; just that he’s been provoked to the point he won’t allow any more incursions. He did not retaliate when they blew up Nordstream (he knows the US did it; we all know it), and many other times when Ukraine/CIA destroyed something and blamed Russia.

What I hope doesn’t happen:
Europe goes to war with Russia, we stay out of it, then down the line (after Trump is out) Russia suddenly attacks us and whoever is in charge by then gets us into WWIII.
The United States has, as POTUS so eloquently put it, all the cards (the support and $$). Otherwise, we would be calling “Kammy” Madame President. That didn’t happen. Zelensky should have seen the writing on the wall AFTER 11/5/24.

It was hard for me to understand Zelensky, but when I read the transcript, I immediate understood:

Time for Elon and his DOGE team to start looking at the books of the funding of the whole Ukrainian operation. Plenty of Democrats and Republicans plus their bureaucratic buddies have a lot to hide.

President Trump was triggered by Zelensky when Zelensky suggested that America was protected by a large ocean that someday might not be enough to insulate it from a Russian attack.
You don’t know that, the President shot back.
The intransigence of that moment should have been the signal fir the President to shut all discussions down snd send Zelensky on his way.

The United States put a target on Ukraine’s back—not President Trump, of course, but the United States of America, the country. Now, Trump is trying to extort Ukraine again for something that was the United States’ fault to begin with… I understand where he is coming from; he looks after the United States’ interests first. It’s his job.
But the irony of this is that Zelensky never tried this defense because the truth is—he was installed and enabled by the previous U.S. administrations, and his handlers have tried to create another “phone call with Ukraine” scenario. Zelensky was not at the White House to advance the interests of Ukraine. It’s that simple.

I was thinking about all the mess with Zelensky Why is it he thinks that wearing a t-shirt and cargo pants make his effort look better To me it actually makes it look like he has no respect for those around him or those he is meeting with.. Everyone already knows he has a wardrobe of nice suits and ties. so why not at least done a tie and white shirt.
His main residence is the magnificent Mariinskyi Palace which is probably very expensive to keep up.
Not sure what type of show he is trying to put on, but he is not and has not been impressing me and I do believe many others with his demeanor.
Do believe that most people if invited to the WH would probably be wearing as they they say “their best bid and tucker”, especially if it was a personal invite from the President himself.

Its a statement, in my opinion, that what he is he is and no one is going to change that. President Trump wears suit and in the past has been criticized for doing so on occasion. Musk doesn’t wear suits. In fact, he was criticized by the press for not dressing up for the cabinet meeting. Look at that democrat who wears snorts and only put on a suit for the pope. Statements of individuality and strength. President Trump even defended him when the reporter asked. His outfit wasn’t the problem.
Elon sure does wear a suit when the time calls for it.
Elon is also seen in a suit or sport jacket which is much better then the outfits Zelenskyy wears. Actually i was really confused by your statement when around 50% of the time the pictures of Elon, he in at least a sports jacket or suit jacket. Yea I know Zelenskyy is trying give the appearance of being part of the war and military But how many times has Zelenskyy actually been where the action when it is happening.
