Now comes the “fun” part. On the way home Elizabeth counted how many times she had to explain to her sister why she couldn’t feel her arm. 40 times in 20 miles. 🙂
Afternoon, dear ‘Woo. My followup visit went quite well—doc is very satisfied with my results. As am I. Interestingly, I’m using a pair of 30-40 year old rims that I just happened to find. Turns out they are a good match for both my corrected eye and uncorrected rt eye. I think what’s happened is that these old lenses more closely match my now corrected vision than my later frames/lenses. Anyway, wearing them provides a quite adequate balance, allowing me to see well enough to function more normally than I’d expected.
Basically, what this correction provides is some slight near sightedness coupled with much better long vision. I’ll still need to wear glasses, but that’s ok because I’ve worn glasses my whole life.
Times like this are when you really appreciates your friends. I’m blessed to have such good friends who really stepped in to get me to and from appointments and surgery. Bless them and bless my good friends here in the Treehouse. Anybody who says virtual friendships don;t count is seriously wrong. Their loss.
Oh, and loyal Little ‘Tink has been sticking by my side for days now. It is clear that she senses something and so is doing “her” duty—bless her little kitty heart!!

Well, these *are* G. Armani from a long time ago. They fitted my intellectual aspirations (LOL) to a tee at the time. I visited my original optical shop and the owner remembered selling tons of these very frames. These are a bit shabby so I may see if I can find a similar style. We are home from the concert. We were surrounded by a high school youth group from a Nazarene church about an hour away. These sweet kids “adopted” us. Very polite and it was wonderful to watch them praise God in unity.
They were kind, considerate, and engaged in conversation easily. The 17 yo young lady next to me was a dear girl, but had something heavy on her mind. I got to pray for her. What a privilege that was.
Tens of thousands of people… praying together.
Savannah took her own money and is now sponsoring a 10 year old boy from Uganda through World Vision. She said she inherited a little brother.
I felt great HOPE there for our country. The Holy Spirit was there. 🙏 ✝️ ❤️

He is also proficient on the banjo and probably strums a bit on the guitar, an instrument so close to your heart.
But this was so surprisingly lovely that, in knowing what a devil may care fellow he has always been, took my breath away and brought a tear or two. I have a soft spot in my heart for this man. Yesterday it got a lot softer….😌💕

Thanks for these posts, dear Bet. The surgery wasn’t anything close to what I’d imagined. My surgeon just smiled at a comment he’d heard many times before . . . It went so far beyond my anxious expectations. It seemed that I was simply quite relaxed, conscious, and then—zip—it was over. As I mentioned to dear ‘Woo I’m now seeing so much better, even with these old, old frames. I have a couple of followups scheduled and then we’ll do the right eye.

Been missing you, Sis. Thanks for the sweet message and music post. Sadly I missed it yesterday. I simply couldn’t swing to get back on here to check in. I’m only awake now because our idiot neighbor gets drunk and leaves his cats unattended outside into the wee hours. We had a coyote right outside my door last week, so it’s no laughing matter to have me running around and banging on their door to get them to let their cat back in.

“forget”pass out from drunkenness and the cat(s) sit next to Savannah’s bedroom window and cry and cry. She wakes up, gets upset, gets me up and I have to dress and start raising cain to alert them, so they’ll bring their kitties inside. They do not easily wake from their drunken stuper and it’s 33 degrees outside and I’m still sick with a cold.My patience is gone with them. The lady is nice enough, but the guy is an a-hole.
Tonight (Friday) is the big Christian concert (Toby Mac Hits Deep tour) for Savannah’s Christmas present and I… am… not… ready. Especially now, without good sleep. I’ll cut out of work right on time today at 3:30 PM and try to sneak in a nap before we have to leave downtown. It’s going to be a looooong night with usually a bouncing good time, but Mom’s too pooped to pop.
We will see this group tonight, too… and Ryan Stephenson. Usually, Savannah just has this way about her… these events end up pretty magical and we somehow find ourselves backstage with the performers. Like Billy Joel and Sting in St. Louis where we ended up in the front row. It’s wild and it’s happened a few times.
Who am I that our Lord Is So Mindful of me? That I could be so very blessed with a teenager who openly and effusively loves The Lord and Christian music. She fills her mind with these songs and these performers and it brings her peace and she weathers storms. I couldn’t be more pleased that she wants to go to these and wants to be there with me… her old dowdy Mom.
March 1st is her Spiritual birthday. Ten years ago – as a 9 year old – she gave her life to Jesus and was baptized in His Name. I got to do the honors and I can’t convey enough how lifting it felt to know that she belongs to Christ. I knew my stewardship was far from over… but the security knowing that your child belongs to The Lord… it was the single best moment of my life. It had snowed about 8 inches and she woke that Sunday absolutely bent to go get baptized now. I asked her…
“Your birthday is the 29th, are you sure you want to do this today? We could wait and do it closer to your birthday and have your friends join you to watch and hold a small party for you. Are you sure?”
“Mom, The Holy Spirit is telling me that I need to be baptized today.”
“Go get your stuff, let’s go!!!” (Who am I to argue with The Holy Spirit?)
The baptismal water was cold. The heater wasn’t turned on at the church. We didn’t bring spare underwear with us, so we put on the robes given to us with our undergarments underneath, and we waded into the water in front of the congregation, and I baptized my daughter. We got out, dried off, got our street clothes back on… and the soaking underwear leached through our street clothes. (I guess we could have took them off, but things were a bit of a whirlwind.) We went to Steak N Shake after service (we were soooo poor) and I kept asking everyone “Ask my WHY my clothes are all wet!!! My daughter was baptized today!!!!”
So much JOY. She has carried The Lord with her since she was born. A little bitty baby saved from death during her delivery from a high risk pregnancy. Her umbilical cord wrapped not once… but twice… around her neck… and knotted. They knew the cord was around her neck since 12 weeks in utero, but didn’t know the severity of it until she was delivered. Three times a week for nonstress tests to force her to move and be monitored. She was supposed to deliver normally, but stalled for reasons ONLY GOD KNEW… and she would have died if they hadn’t had done an emergency caesarean after 24 1/2 hours of hard labor after my water broke.
She was a little miracle and the three rounds of nursing staff, two rounds of anesthesiologists, and one brave surgeon who refused to go home from his 24 hour shift without her safely delivered into my arms… kept filing into the room to look and coo at the “double nuchal with a knot”. She was born with a full head of bright red hair and she was the most peaceful gentle baby and she stayed that way all through her littleness.
Now, she’s a flaming red haired maiden who is quiet in a deliberate way… but on fire for The Lord. To God be all the Glory and Praise and Honor. He IS So Good to us.

Knowing Christ as my friend, my love, my Savior, my all-in-all. We have laughed together and cried together. We have suffered together for The Cross.
God Has been the only constant companion in all of my 51 years through unspeakable tragedies. One human can survive literally anything with God as his or her companion. I would not be alive without His Great Mercy on my life – I would have killed myself long ago. We are living testimony to God’s Greatness and I can speak of His Divine Miracles with firsthand knowledge. To know so much… I could never depart from His Presence… not ever.

It is great entertainment, great script, great acting, with depth… and reveals the nature of a fully loving, fully approachable, fully accepting, and merciful Savior. Read in His Word, the Holy Bible and start with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and hear how their stories collude with one another to introduce you to the man, the Son of God, the Christ Who Saves us… and do not be afraid to bring Him your cares and concerns.
He Loves you with an undying love. We love you and we are praying for you. If you feel led to share your concerns, bring us your prayer requests, on the Prayer Thread or wherever. Biography: Cuauhtémoc was the last Aztec Emperor who reigned during the final years of the Aztec Empire. He is remembered for his resistance against the Spanish Conquistadors and his determination to uphold the traditions and independence of his people, even in the face of overwhelming odds.

Funny, my husband and I were talking about the Monkeys this morning, who knows how they popped-up in conversation, and now here is Davy, a somewhat crush of mine long before I celebrated my 3rd birthday.

My objectives for the day:
Fix the hinge on my mailbox. Those postal people are really hard on it. This will be the 3rd time I’ve fixed it. This time it will be done in a way they have will have to tear off the door to screw it up.
Feed the birds and the critters. Consumption is down considerably compared to when there were 0 deg temps and snow cover. Those blue jays and red breasted woodpeckers eat far more peanuts in the shell than the squirrels do.
Walk the dogs. Nice long walk in the back field. They Love it since with all the bad weather we haven’t been walking them much. Gotta let dogs be dogs. Yesterday morning Steve was walking his big ole Beagle, Cooper. Coming back towards his house Cooper caught sight of Rocky the squirrel feeding on the critter feed I put at the base of my big Chinese Elm.
Now Cooper doesn’t charge right away. He stalks almost like a cat. He takes a step or two and freezes the slowly takes another step. he’ll even freeze mid step.
I know Rocky saw him and was just teasing him. He waited until Cooper was almost in striking distance and then bolted. Cooper didn’t have a chance.
Release the Grillbot in the grill to clean it up and wipe down the outside. It’s amazing how dirty it can get even though I have a heavy duty cover with no holes on it.
Grill steaks that will be served with Au Gratin potatoes and a toss salad.
And post shit between all the above. Not sure I’ll be in shape to post after I pig out on dinner.

Every one of the weather guys I follow think that the cuts at NOAA are far too deep. Most say, take out the climate loons and change the leadership and leave the rest and I agree with that. Just because an employee is probationary does not mean they’re not good. The probationary period is 2 years and they hacked off all of them.
Sometimes large companies will fire the staff of an entire unit to avoid personal-type (race, sex, age) lawsuits and then telling the entire unit as they receive their final pay to submit a new resume for when the company will be hiring again – and then quietly rehire those the company wants to keep and put them in a newly formed unit.
Wondering if this an angle of what is going on, but now with the ability to ask the good ones if they would consider reapplying.

Proverbs 21:23
Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
Verse 23. – We have had similar maxims before (Proverbs 13:8 and Proverbs 18:21, where see notes). He keepeth his mouth, who knows when to speak and when to be silent; and he keepeth his tongue, who says only what is to the purpose. We have all heard the proverb, “Speech is silver, silence is gold.” One who thus takes heed of his words, keepeth his soul from troubles. The troubles (angores, Vulgate) are such as these – remorse for the evil occasioned, distress of conscience, vexation and strife with offended neighbours, danger of liberty and life, and, above all, the anger of God, and retribution in the judgment.

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue,…. Guards the one and bridles the other; is careful of what he says, that it is truth, and without dissimulation and guile; and is not injurious to the characters of men, and is not offensive and provoking; who abstains from ill and wrathful language, and which tends to stir up wrath and contention. Aben Ezra distinguishes between the mouth and tongue, and interprets it, that keeps his mouth from eating, that is, immoderately and intemperately; and his tongue from speaking evil: but it is best to understand both of the same thing, of speech or language, which when a man is careful of, he keepeth his soul from troubles; his conscience clear of guilt and distress, and his person from being concerned in quarrels, contentions, and lawsuits, which such who give their tongues too much liberty are involved in.

WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Listened to an explanation/interpretation of “as the waters cover the sea” – (there are probably others.) Anyway this one goes as follows. During the final redemption, ALL people who remain/chosen will enjoy access to knowledge “of the Glory of the Lord”. However one should “see” the sea, not as one continuous flat surface (as large as it is), but rather in profile, following the contours of the sea bed. Close to shore it is “shallow”, still contains much, is wonderful – but it goes deeper and deeper to things mysterious and “hidden” So using this metaphor, people who have invested time and energy into seeking out and understanding the deeper mysteries of God will enjoy a much, much, much greater understanding, while those with limited knowledge, but still worthy will enjoy a lesser, yet still exhilarating experience. (who doesn’t love splashing around in the shallows). Each will receive what they are capable of understanding, and over time, venturing further and further into the depths. Eventually everybody will come to “know” God completely.
Always like to bring a musical aspect to things so here is DMB “Lie in our graves” – pretty long so might want to skip the rather long violin part from around 2’30 to around 10′ 30. Unless of course you’re DMB fan.

I need ideas from fellow treepers. We are caught in the government quagmire. DOE and student loans. The loan servicer took a question and changed the note. Just a question, not a request to change the loan. Nothing was ever signed or authorized on our end. They have not produced the paperwork. No one is forcing them to comply. Lawyer(s) have said too much time and effort so will not take case. Even the attorneys who sued the loan servicer in federal court this past year. We don’t have the luxury of time to wait to see how everything falls into place. And the loan servicer is demanding 40% more of our income and added a substantial balance to the loan. We are going up against a giant organizer with only a stone. Senior citizens trying to make plans to retire. Both in bad health. Did not want to spend the final years of my life losing everything. Anyone out there with a clear vision for us?

Student loan through a federal agency – since the lawyers familiar with the situation aren’t stepping in to help only thought I have is for your to contact your district’s Congressman, in person when they are back in the district, with a nice one page summary of the situation attached to a binder (apparently our federal govt likes binders) containing copies of all documents (always keep your originals, simply put “copy” stamp on each page in the binder) –
as the members of Congress must get re-elected every 2 years so their ability to help their constituents has a shorter time frame, for both action and campaign good vibe stories, than a Senator does.
My experience with any federal agency – if something from them is not in writing, it never really happened. This is why in person, or if not possible, by certified return receipt mail, after you have called their local district office and chit-chatted with one of their staff members what and why you will be getting this info to their boss, the congressman, or woman.
Even have index tab identifying or naming each section (such as “application”, “atty correspondence”, “health”, stuff like that, which your one-page summary covers, as it will be the staff member who will preview it and be the person to know what will catch their boss’ attention.
Will add that I do believe DanDeplorale’s prayer is a wonderful way to put your mind in the best framework to putting everything together and before contacting the congressional member’s office.

If you have clear skies, take a gander about 30 minutes after sunset. If your not used to identifying planets here’s a few tips. Planets don’t twinkle like starlight does. Look to the part of the horizon where the sun sets since planets orbits follow the path of the sun across the sky. To see Mercury and Saturn you will need a clear horizon without obstructions because they’ll be so low. You won’t see Neptune or Uranus without a good telescope and even then they’ll just be points of light.
