Heat on here, too. Another chilly night expected tonight but tomorrow will be back at 75. My Bradford pears, real pear, agarithas are all blooming and getting there leaves. tonight is going to get in the thirties but I don’t think that it will freeze. Anyway, up high on the hill is always a few degrees warmer than down by the gate.
we have started discussing the solar eclipse. There are 1M people expected to visit, some say the whole Hill country, some say Gillespie county. Either way, that’s a lot of people. Hope our two lane county road doesn’t get jammed because then you get people starting to climb over fences, peeing and pooping everywhere. I have to do a little preparation like a lock and chain the electric gate, post a few No trespassing signs, etc.

This eclipse will be the second stroke of an ‘X’ across America.
Another interesting fact about Nineveh’s way of dealing with eclipses which they considered a message of doom, tells of their requiring a temporary, substitute, usually unqualified, ‘king’.
So if the king were to be in danger, he would have a substitute person ready to be killed in his place

After the Eclipse, the substitute King would be killed (surplus to requirements) Then the real king is restored to his throne.. Isn’t that interesting?

I have a special interest in Salem, Massachusetts as my ancestor, Rebecca Nurse, was hanged there during the witch hunt frenzy in the 1600s. My mother’s maiden name was Nourse with an “o” inserted. Many of Rebecca Nurse’s relatives returned to England in shame and kept the original spelling. Those who remained in America added the “o.”
When I met my first husband, his best friend’s last name was Nurse. His mother was into genealogy and confirmed that their ancestors had gone back to England before returning to America when the hysteria subsided.

I had heard about the trials in Salem but did not know much about the details. So amazing that you met someone, via your first husband with that rather unusual name.
How interesting and then with the mother’s interest in genealogy even better, so you were able to add to your knowledge of the family. It’s almost as if it were meant to be, you were supposed to know.
I am also interested on genealogy and use Ancestry to work on my family trees. Most of my searches are in the U.K. For some branches I have actually got back to the early 1700’s and even a few glimpses into the 1600s.
I wonder if that family name was actually originally ‘Norse’ indicating perhaps, a Viking background. There are many place names and family names with Viking roots in the British Isles. especially in the Northern areas naturally . Were they from a Northern county? York for instance, had a Roman presence, then a Viking population
I am glad they were able to go back to their American homeland. That must have been comforting for them. Did they return to Massachusetts? Often people moved on it seems when they arrived in America. Ancestors of my (deceased) husband arrived in New York from Germany about 1880, got married moved in a covered wagon across the country and settled in Iowa where they farmed for some years then moved across the country living in different states. Geez, must be something in the air today that is stimulating my allergies. My DIL had the opportunity to swim with dolphins and had difficulty describing the effect it had on her. Almost surreal.
I was camping at a surf break in the Bahamas in 1972 and two dolphins showed up and surfed the waves for a half hour
I grabbed swim fins and a mask and swam out to them
They’d swim by me giving that side-eye that they do
They whistled and clicked and I made noises into my snorkle, but they didn’t seem to pay much mind to that
They’d swim out to the peak, catch a wave, and ride it across the whole break, just like surfers do
They ride at the base of the wave, just in front of it – that’s apparently the power point for underwater surfing
Crystal clear Caribbean water, it was a real treat
I am picturing this in my mind’s eye. How fantastic!

What is the thing that not only disturbs you but makes you a disturbance? It is always something you cannot deal with yourself. “They rebuked him that he should hold his peace…but he cried so much the more.” Persist in the disturbance until you get face to face with the Lord Himself; do not deify common sense. When Jesus asks us what we want Him to do for us in regard to the incredible thing with which we are faced, remember that He does not work in common-sense ways, but in supernatural ways.
Watch how we limit the Lord by remembering what we have allowed Him to do for us in the past: I always failed there, and I always shall; consequently we do not ask for what we want. “It is ridiculous to ask God to do this.” If it is an impossibility, it is the thing we have to ask. If it is not an impossible thing, it is not a real disturbance. God will do the absolutely impossible.
This man received his sight. The most impossible thing to you is that you should be so identified with the Lord that there is nothing of the old life left. He will do it if you ask Him. But you have to come to the place where you believe Him to be Almighty. Faith is not in what Jesus says but in Himself; if we only look at what He says we shall never believe. When once we see Jesus, He does the impossible thing as naturally as breathing. Our agony comes through the willful stupidity of our own heart. We WON’T believe, we WON’T cut the shore line, we prefer to worry on.

Years ago, we were on the 99 highway in California when the driver had a grand mal seizure.
People were horrible and honking, getting mad, flying around us, but a French man who barely spoke English saw me trying to move the driver and he stopped and helped me scoot him over to the passenger seat so I could take him to the hospital.
Thank God for people who seek to understand without rushing to judgement. Thank God, too, the driver didn’t hit the gas and kill us both.

For those interested in Bonsai, the best book to start with IMO is “The Complete Book of Bonsai” by Harry Tomlinson. I have found that most of the other books lack this or that explanation, but this book is most complete and easy to learn from. Beyond that, if you are interested in learning from videos, I have found this guy (Peter Chan) to give the best explanations in short videos.

2/29/2024 – That which is gone out of your lips you shall keep and perform
Deuteronomy 23:21-23 “When you shall vow a vow unto the LORD your God, you shall not slack to pay it: for the LORD your God will surely require it of you; and it would be sin in you. But if you shall forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in you. That which is gone out of your lips you shall keep and perform; even a freewill offering, according as you have vowed unto the LORD your God, which you have promised with your mouth.”
All I can say about this, is that I am ashamed and repent: because that this is something I learned from a child; to say the right thing to get out of trouble, or at least to not be in so much trouble; but then later, after the fear of punishment has passed, to go back and do it again.
Now while this may not seem to some, to be of too much significance; especially if the rest of the life is somewhat orderly; the fact that this hedge has been broken, already makes the person too easy to let this kind of behavior become a habit, and eventually a character trait of being “not to trust.” And this is not merely a problem for others, having to rely on such a one; but in the case of that person becoming a sincere Christian, and having cut off all the old sins, and is now a new man in Christ: the part where he now wants to promise the Lord certain things; but then some time later goes back and dabbles in them again: that is bad!
Matthew 5:33-37 “Again, you have heard that it has been said by them of old time, You shall not perjure yourself, but shall perform unto the LORD your *oaths (solemn promises, vows): but I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne: nor by the earth; for it is His footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yes, yes; No, no: for whatsoever is more than these comes of evil.”
Has the Lord been convicting about some old worldliness that you have given a place again in your heart? Maybe the old music from when you were a teenager, and unsaved? There is a very simple, and right to the point Scripture, that covers all those things from the old life; “Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” And, “Love not the world, neither the things in the world: if anyone love the world, the love of the Father IS NOT IN HIM!”
Of all the evil things that come from within, out of the heart of man; and defile him; the things that only work to harden our heart, and defile our conscience, under the false excuse of enjoying some “harmless entertainment,” are among the most subtle and poisonous to our holy walk with God.
What we learn from the fifth Psalm, is that when we want the LORD to give ear to our words, and consider our meditation; when we want our King and our God to hearken unto the voice of our cry; how we come to stand before Him in the morning, to set our account in order before Him; must be our proclamation for the whole day’s walking with God. For He is not a God that has pleasure in wickedness; and evil shall not dwell with Him: the foolish shall not stand in His sight: He hates all workers of lawlessness, and shall destroy them that speak falsehood. The LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. (Psalm 5:1-6)
The first thing we are told about the devil, is that he is more subtle than every beast of the field; and the first thing recorded, that came out of his mouth to man, was to cause us to question and to defy God’s commandment, on the lie that it would make us gods. And so it is the same all the time; that he only seeks to get us to sin, so he can accuse us to God, and be able to put forth his hand to destroy us for sinning. Yet for all these many, many centuries ever since; he still finds us simple and stupid and easy to deceive, with the most foolish and worthless things, to compromise our virtue and integrity, and our sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s influence.
So what is it that the Lord is teaching us here? Is it that we should not promise anything, so we don’t get in trouble when we can’t keep the promise? Well how would we not be able to keep what we say? Especially when it has to do with the sincerity of our love, and our holy consecration to the Lord? I think it has to do with, Doing first, and being careful not to boast, even unintentionally. Our hearts are sincere, and our prayers for Him to make us the kind of man or woman He wants us to be: but if we really knew what is in us, we would be very careful about being in too big a hurry to commit ourselves to trusting that individual. Better to do, and not say much at all; and let the Lord recognize the sincerity of your love; rather than to promise things, not knowing what kind of trial awaits us; like what happened to Peter.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

So funny, we drove over to Wisconsin to get some CBD oil (2 drops under your tongue before bedtime as part of cancer cure/prevention), and were given 4 free samples of THC Hemp gummies.
Two young guys knew we’d never used any of that stuff before and told us not to take more than 1/4 piece of “candy” and wait an hour to make sure we’d be “ok” with using the stuff.

NYC SUBWAY CONDUCTOR SLASHED IN NECK
A 59-year-old New York City subway conductor was slashed in the neck early Thursday as violent incidents plague residents in the Democrat-run city.
ABC 7 reported the incident happened in Brooklyn at the Rockaway Avenue and Fulton Street station on a southbound A train at approximately 3:40 a.m., authorities explained.
The victim, identified as Alton Scott, was on the train as it was pulling into the station. The moment he stuck his head out of the train’s window he was slashed in the neck.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and listed in stable condition. He received 34 stitches and was eventually cleared to go home.
So far, authorities have made no arrests in the case but said a man wearing a blue vest fled the scene after the slashing occurred.
