The U.S. hopes the designation, something usually reserved for terrorist groups with political rather than economic objectives, will increase pressure on the groups.

I used to take frequent trips to the Big Bend area, right down there on the Rio Grande. One of my favorite, if not the top favorite places in Texas. No fences, no wall, no people, just desert mountain wilderness as far as you can see, and the river maybe 2 ft deep that you can just walk across and be in Mexico. And vice versa. Last time I was down there was about 5 years ago. I was going along this highway that followed the Rio Grande over to Presidio, and I was half expecting to see armed gunmen appear in the road in front of me and wave me to a halt.
I haven’t been back since and don’t plan to anytime soon. I just have this feeling that it’s not safe around there anymore, and even more so now.

Don’t believe the hype. China can’t win a war vs The West. They do not have the weapons, man power, or experience… let’s not forget 80% of a war effort is logistics and support… on that front they will fail, miserably. China is a phantom boogie man. Russia too.

I cannot agree with you. Russia today has the strongest military in the world bar none. According to top US military sources the US has depleted over 90% of it’s weapons by giving them to Ukraine. It is estimated that it will take at least nine years for the weapons to be replaced. Russia and China also have hypersonic missiles while the US has none. We are NOT in a good position.

Long time ago, I read that China did or does want the United States but not at the cost of destroying the country. They just want to kill all of us and leave the country intact. This was way before covid but the discussion was about germ warfare. It was an opinion stated by someone here at CTH. I thought it made enough sense that I’ve remembered it all these years, about 13 of them or more.
