Damage assessed includes the exterior wall of two storage rooms and a maintenance space. External to the ship, damage assessed includes a line handling space, the fantail, and the platform above one of the storage spaces. Aircraft elevator number three sustained no damage and is fully operational. Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC) will lead the pier side ERAV, including an assessment and follow-on repairs to damages sustained.
“While the ship is fully mission capable and the ship conducted flight operations following the collision, pulling into port for emergent repairs will enable the ship to continue deployment as scheduled,” said Capt. Dave Snowden, Harry S. Truman’s commanding officer.
An assessment team will conduct a full survey of damaged areas and develop a repair plan to be executed immediately following completion of the assessment. The assessment team includes structural engineers, naval architects, and other personnel from FDRMC and Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY). They will be supported by ship’s force personnel and local industry partners for the repair effort.

“USS Connecticut (SSN 22) is currently in Dry Dock 5 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF) in Bremerton, Washington, and is undergoing a previously scheduled Extended Dry-Docking Selected Restricted Availability (EDSRA). An EDSRA is a major maintenance availability that all submarines undergo during their maintenance life cycle.
The damage USS Connecticut sustained in October 2021 is being repaired during this EDSRA.
An assessment conducted last year at PSNS & IMF confirmed USS Connecticut (SSN 22) can be fully restored for unrestricted operations. The damage to the ship is located at the bow and the lower portion of the rudder. The propulsion plant was unaffected by the impact and continues to operate as designed.

He’s First Officer on the 777s, has a long aviation history, loves what he’s doing, and is thoroughly concerned about the crap that has intruded on what used to be aviation excellence–he speaks about that plainly without being a jerk, and sometimes communicates a great deal between the lines.
I watched that video and then watched this one from that same link. This expert is claiming there a “99.9%” chance that this crash was pilot error. Come to think of it? Have we heard anything about the person who “landed” the plane?
Good video. Winds and snow on the runway were definitely NOT the problem.
Any professional pilot out there should have been able to make a safe landing under those conditions with a little planning and attention. These conditions are a bit more challenging, but not overly so. Call it a difficulty level of 5 outof 10.
The runway point of intercept is VERY short. As he explained, they should have touched down MUCH farther down the runway. If they had touched down a half second earlier, they would have missed the runway entirely and landed in the overrun.
If the runway was icy it might be easier to understand why they landed so short, but with 20 knots of headwind and mostly dry runway, they were going to have a very short ground roll anyway. There is no reason they should have been aiming so short.
Barring some sudden, inexplicable engine or flight control malfunction in the final few seconds before touchdown, this is looking more and more like pilot error.
My old company had a pilot who crashed a 747 under similar conditions. That pilot had documented training deficiencies, but was passed along anyway. Care to guess why?

I have a crazy idea: it seems to me that the old media is doing all they can to hide or distort or distract the public from the revelations coming out of DOGE. The new press secretary is good, but very little of her presentation gets past the media filter. What if President Trump and VP Vance brought back the ‘FiresideChat” in a YouTube channel. Vance would shine and should carry the bulk of it- he is an excellent spokesperson and ambassador for the President and for common sense! He could explain and give a weekly update laying out that week’s discoveries and remedies. What do you think?
