The new media is the new press and for the most part they don’t claim to be neutral, they wear their bias on their sleeve and we as consumers of news get to shop around for what matches our bias. Which is why I’m here at The Treehouse and not at some commie site.
By having this open dichotomy, there seems to be more actual truth and facts laid open to the public. Also having the abundance of the new media sites vying for your eye, for now, they tread careful not to betray their demographics.
We may not agree with the other side’s truths, but they can’t deny the facts, which is why they scream at the sky.
I think she’s referring to a spate of crying FBI agents who insist on staying anonymous who talk about how traumatic the changes have been in the bureaucracy.
The main stream media is now using many anonymous sources and anonymous quotes-disparaging Trump, Musk, and attributing anonymous quotes to Maga people that are racist etc.
During the Biden era, whistleblowers coming forward we’re giving interviews, rarely if ever insisting on being anonymous.

It looks like President Trump is directing which areas to examine when. I imagine there is logic to his choice that includes many factors and plans of which we are not aware.

In Santa Cruz County aka Little Bezerkeley, they proposed taxing people with vacant homes. They are trying to say it’s unfair to have vacant spaces when there are not enough available housing options. They are also forcing high density housing into rural/ag areas and removing the Ag to bring in the section 8.

There are already laws and ordinances that require a certain percentage of low income housing in all new construction projects there.

Not Low Income. Low and Moderate Income. There is a difference.
By building under Low to Moderate Income programs the owner avoids housing people who absolutely do not work.
Not sure what the income limits are, but regular working class people can qualify.
The change came about because owners were reluctant to build multi-family structures when all that was allowed to go into them were zero-income tenants.

The area was filled predominately with single family homes prior to the fire. Which ones have to give up their land and home to meet the ratio requirements?
Along the Pacific Coast Highway (shore side) there will most likely be luxury residential and some nice commercial structures like high end hotels, restaurants, spas, yacht clubs-that sort of thing.
Behind that (but not too close) will probably be the ‘Section 8’ housing for the ‘working poor’ temporarily.
People working at the shoreside and beachside businesses and households have to live somewhere.
Section 8 housing isn’t what most people think it is.
HUD has various programs under the Section 8 Division.
One convoluted program is where an investor borrows money from a bank and builds multi-family structures.
The debt service (loan) is considered when formulating the amount of subsidy that the owner receives to supplement the rent payment that the tenant pays toward the ‘fair market’ rent.
After some period of time, usually after the loan is paid off, say 5 or 10 years for instance, the owner no longer collects the subsidy and can charge whatever amount to the tenants.
Calculating the fair market rent is another convoluted process.
So, basically the subsidy pays for the construction and then the property owner can rent to whomever he wants to at whatever price he decides after the subsidy contract expires.
There’s more to it, but I doubt many people are interested in the gory details.
If Elon and DOGE will dive into HUD maybe this type of housing scheme will not come to fruition.
